@@IzzytheBricky I think you are getting it right in terms of quality over quantity. I see a few other RUclipsrs taking similar approach- Nick Bundy electrical is doing a good job too. I’ve seen others burn out trying to do too many daily’s.

The proper way to mix sand and lime is to mix it the day before you need it ,just tip out of the mixer and next day remix it remember to cover the mortar over night 😊😊

Those carborundum rakes snap as well the Irwin ones as you say are much better. Spray foam as a sealer on Heritage work is frowned upon as it traps moisture, twisted Oakum is recommended 👍
Props there like Izzy getting the lad a new trowel your giving him such an oppertuniy there and he does'nt want to labour all his life there's not a lot of people around liike you willing to take your time to show him the ropes if was'nt for my brother god knows what id be doing
Good job fellas. Glad you’re using NHL 3.5. Try the ArborTech tool for raking out. It’s recommended for use on historic buildings as less likely to damage bricks. Quicker too. You can hire one from Travis Perkins. It’s a great bit of kit. It’s the allsaw with mortar blades.
Isaac it’s not a mountain Don’t look at it like that Never look at an entire wall as an entire wall Break it into a grid mindset I use the top of a window or a window sill as my marking point to get to and then use the next window as a marker. It’s easier on the brain

If you get a helicopter to the top the mountain hasn’t shaped you, the view is just a view. If you walk up the mountain you will feel it, the highs and the lows, the cold, the heat, the sweat, the pain and when you get to the top the view takes on a new breathtaking meaning and dimension. If cavity-wall insulation is to be used , it can ONLY be installed from the VERY START of construction of the cavity-walls and there SHOULD be a LARGE air space gap in-between the face of the insulation and the OUTER WALL inside the cavity ; this includes an air space gap in between the face of the insulation and the cavity-wall-tie drip point which is in the centre of the cavity. Ask N.V.Q. BRICKWORK teachers for PROOF of this !

at 21.30 i would angle the compo to the back so when you push it in it fills the front, otherwise the back is always empty

Would a house built in the 1930s need a lime mix for repointing or would a 5 to 1 sand cement work ?
