If he needed to go somewhere upon arrival, the elevator was big enough to hold his limousine which traveled in another car on the train. They would put FDR in the car and then drive into the elevator, stop at street level and the car would drive right out onto the street. The track siding is still there along with an old railroad car used by FDR's train but it is no longer used.
These convoys are always great publicity for Chevrolet! The amount of Suburbans is amazing. Real smart too. With the New York ones I also quite like what comes before and after the convoy, the new Chargers and the specialist vehicles.
