Nathan Ake is being severely overlooked for some reason, he was basically best defender for City all season up until last few weeks when he picked up an injury and Dias took over

The issue is Alisson is clearly better than Pope in literally every single metric. He’s the best in the world and slowly becoming one of the best of all time at this rate. Pope/Newcastle fans see someone putting Alisson over Pope as a way of calling Pope bad but he’s a great keeper however it’s disrespectful to Alisson to hold them to the same standard

Pope has saved 1 more penalty cos he’d faced more. Alisson has more saves and the same amount of clean sheets as “the best defence in the league”. Alisson also saved over 8xg compared to Pope saving about 0.5xg. And alisson actually won a game for Liverpool with his assist against city in a 1-0 win. Meaning he’s stopped us from losing games with his saves and made us win with an assist

Hardest pick was GK it didn't feel right putting Alison for some reason but everytime I watched Liverpool last season (maybe 10 15 games + little bits here and there) he looked unbelievable so it couldn't of been a coincidence.
LB was difficult if not for Ake then Zinchenko was easily next up but Ake had to be in the team he has had a phenomenal season

Not saying that pope isn’t a shout for tots because he obviously is, but just because pope has a few more high claims and punches doesn’t mean he’s had a better season. Look at xg preventer for example. One of the more important stats for a keeper and Alisson clears everyone with it.

As a Newcastle fan over the season is Allison. Pope is top 3. And if you took it in feb he’d be there. But he’s been playing injured and fallen off at the end of the season.

The only aspect in which Pope has been better than Allison this season is claiming crosses. Alisson has had far superior shot-stopping, sweeping and distribution, all of which statistically checks out. This shouldn't even be a debate and that's coming from a Utd fan who would do anything to slander Liverpool players.

by definition shaw can't be there because his primary role has been ambiguous, if he had spent the majority of the season at left back with only a couple of games filling in at CB then maybe, but the fact he spent almost as many games at CB as he did in his normal position means he no longer qualifies.

I think that Allisson is the best keeper in the league, but I actually think David Raya should be the PL goalkeeper of the season. 46 goals conceded with an XGA of almost 52. 12 clean sheets, top half finish - and people can’t really argue that Brentford’s defence is better than Liverpools can they? Raya has made one mistake leading to a goal in 38 games. He’s been excellent.

so just to be clear, you think that Alisson Becker is the better goal keeper because the defenders in front of him have been utterly shite and forced him to play out of his skin for large parts of the season in order to keep Liverpool in with a shout of any sort of European football whereas by contrast Nick Pope has been solid as a rock for Newcastle as part of a well oiled and extremely strong defensive unit, but allison deserves it more despite being in a worse team? Pope will kick the ball out for a throw in when Alisson would find a Liverpool player so it prevents pressure on their respective teams. Alisson is much better at 1v1s, and prevents many more goals as shown by the stats. I can’t think of one characteristic that pope is better at. It’s literally not a debate.

More congestion in that part of the season, higher pressure, and is usually the month where the pretenders drop points and bottlers under perform. Alisson conceded 43 goals with an XGA of 49.96. In essence, he prevented 7 expected goals. The answer to the question of who should be the Tots goalkeeper is David Raya.
@@deangreen2567 XG for goals vs XG for goals prevented is completely different, how hard it is to score a goal comes down to a lot of different factors, same with XG prevention, they don't mirror each other.
