"First fleet would attack Malta, which would become a meme." Damn straight it did! One of my first gameplay segments was as a gunner on Malta during a First Raid.
Battle results in these vehicle build games could vary hugely depending on pilot skill and construction quality, as well as luck. 10 to 1 victories are often possible if for example 1 side had bad component layouts etc. I once downed a battleship from a fighter when a lucky rocket destroyed the conveyor feeding their engines and they slammed into an asteroid. We were all stunned.
And this right here is why my main cruiser and my destroyer are deisgned so even if you cut it in half you would just have two smaller but much angrier ships and into fourths you now have 4 nearly out of control smaller ships to deal with lol. I may or may not have had a simular thing happen to one of mine. Basically we were in a fight and his buddy tried to buzz me just as i pulled up and he crashed through my hull into my hydrogen storage bay which also took out all my ammo. Much facepalming was had.
If you can pilot with inertial dampeners disabled and keep a high speed and constantly changing your direction just enough to dodge incoming fire while also leading your shots correctly and making hits, you can make your fighter very effective. The trouble is if you get too close and get shot up. I was able to decimate a frigate with my medium fighter and and still fly back for repairs. The handy thing is having active decoys at the end of my “wings”
I'm a real sucker for a good organic PvP clusterfuck spawning a grand in-lore narrative of a gundam-style war where no-one wins and war is hell, and all that's accomplished is that the rulers stay ruling, but weakened in the leadup to the next grand conflict.
I remember joining in at the tail end of this war and helping the Riders to train for that final fight. I was so proud of them for pulling this off! Shame what happened later....
Great summary of the S3 pvp conflict! Everything was so convoluted and twisted during the last few weeks of the war that most players didn't even know what was going on, who was at war with who, or why everyone was fighting to begin with. This really highlights how important logistics and planning are in conflict (even if Outland logistic mechanics are kind of barebones atm) and how little this brutal war actually accomplished. The outcome of the Supremacy war and S3 as a whole does good work setting the stage for S4. Y'all are going to enjoy this next one
I enjoyed watching the 3 seasons of this series, and I love how much has improved over the course of these 3 seasons, it was fun to watch! anyways I'm hoping season 4 will come soon
Funny how the rhyders were currupted by their own power. They could have avoided this war by just chill their demands to just simply cpr changing ship production to 1bt
They were obsessed with maintaining their supremacy (Ironic) and CPRs better BT economy threatened that supremacy. As Brock said the riders were looking for any excuse to go to war with CPR to eliminate the threat.
That's the tricky thing, really. Historically, the CPR and Riders have been powerful rivals at each other's throats since year 1. Sure, the war didn't achieve their goals, but I could understand why they would do so. Historically, it requires strong men to keep peace and bargain. Also, being willing to give up some individuality to make up larger powerhouses is also a key point. So far, these cultures of stiff inners, wild Ryders, and crazy AF Khans make an interesting group. I think the real thing that would ever get these guys working together is a strong enough adversary to threaten all their way of lives. But so far pretty much any alliance has come under strain when the going gets tough. No wonder people were getting so anti-war, they literally didn't know who or why they were fighting, so they responded to the war with further violence.
Yknow, all things considered, I’ll happily accept all the kills my ships got in this war. Oh also, someone tell Romeo to start giveing credit to who ACTUALLY built the lancer, hi it’s StarKnight
*incredibly distant echoes of something both known and unkown are recieved atleast a good 1000light years away* "You're........surrender...." ((cool stuff, though i didnt not watch a single episode this season, maybe i might watch again next season i dont know))
Man. I blinked, and we've come a long way from John Madden memes in this game huh? This looks really interesting and well thought out, I'm legit surprised I never seen this before. Ty RUclips Algorithm, I have a new series to watch!
So basically this war was the three legacy factions (Riders, reformed Khan Enclaves, and CDF's contingency Phoenix Coalition) ganging on the last remaining rowdy new kid on the block from the last season.
It's the old guard vs the new faction + the oldest faction. And then the Khans swapped sides/declared war on the Riders (they never actually linked up with the CPR though) and then in-universe ISIS rolled up and everyone realised that the war was stupid.
Can someone introduce me to the story and how this all works? This is the first SE video of this kind that I am seeing. How many people are playing this, what are the rules, how is it organized etc., it looks super fun and interesting
I do believe there is a discord where all this is organised. The politics are basically discussed on Discord, and build orders and tactics are organised that way, too. I understand that they mainly boot up the maps for roleplay and combat purposes.
Can’t wait for season 4 hopefully we see the remnants of the EFN to help the Eternity and then go liberate earth and the soul system or the start of the rebuilding of the EFN and the Eternity be a part of the command structure and get a new ship to be a part of the new EFN fleet USS Infinity aircraft carrier which the aircraft carrier becomes new high command of the EFN.
I love SE...i have about 4500 hours, and thats playing after many hiatus's. I wish there were a lot more RP/Immersive servers like this. I'm assuming this is private/white listed, but how are the SIMS during these battles? How many players are active during these battles and during the off-time when building/repairing/mining/etc? Love the time and effort put into this... like i said, i wish there was a lot more SE immersion and mods with a sustainable performance
So wait the CPR was made up of the Rider and something factions? I can’t remember the second faction’s name only that they and the Riders were enemies at one point in season one.
So I had an idea, as of the end of season 3 the EFN know the wolf system is rebeling, so what if a jump gun was made to get the Eternity there and try to alliance with the wolf and fight the EDF?
I think it would make more sense if they just moved the gate pointed at the Sol system to the direction of Wolf system using the Eternity to calculate the trajectories/distances.
Small question for the production units; Since ships are so expensive and production lies around 1 to 2 destroyers a week, is that all that gets built? Battleships seems prohibitively expensive (which is realistic). Does this work on IRL time or ingame timecount? I love the series! It's great to see some EVE elements in the Spengineers format!
Yeah, no one is replenishing during war US WW2 style. But, since this series is now going on almost 3 years. We also have a lot more peace then the series might indicate for different factions to replenish reserves.
Anyone know of a SE channel that does faction war stuff without the heavy RP elements? I love the organization and "roles" as far as fighting, but not so much for the actual role-playing.
This is interesting but I have a few questions; 1) Why doesn't this chug like crazy? :P 2) What's the rule in place when it comes to building these battleships? Admittedly I haven't played Space Engineers in sometime but I remember it being.. Not entirely reliable. But it was fun to crash my Nebula on a planet, or catch a ship I had abandoned still orbit the planet.
1: First, really expensive dedicated servers. Second it can depending on the battle or scenario for example two Fleet Battleship squadrons fighting 2: Outlands uses a sort of board game building system shown as BT (Build Turns), Light Battleships for example are 14 BT while a Destroyer is 1 BT so heavier ships are rarer
is this server still open and active and would it be possible for me and a friend to come in as like an underdog faction that only has its mobile mothership with a drone fleet trynna fuck them up and be on the run the whole time lol
Will all this destruction have an effect if/when Earth invades through the gate? It seems to me that all this destruction should have a serious long term consequence. There is a very limited reserve of ships and only so many turns to build things and repopulate the fleets/reserves.
3:30 okay hard time out. PMA basically didn't want to let CPR in and one of their opening actions was to basically declare war and demand CPRs surrender
