This video makes me appreciate the defensive back even more...how in the hell are you supposed to cover Thoroughbred athletes who are running forward and KNOW where they are going while you are back pedaling and basically waiting for them to make a move and react??? It's like penalties kicks in soccer, you can't really stop them, you just either "guess" right or hope it's a bad kick. No receiver should be stopped by any defensive back unless it was a bad throw or a bad route run by the receiver. Defensive back has to be the hardest position on field besides quarterback.
Now imagine how godly corners like Charles Woodson, PrimeTime, Champ Bailey, Darryl Green, Revis Island, Rod Woodson was??? 😭😂😭
M B you got to strategize.. but more importantly is you have to train on gaining ground as a DB while in coverage ... work on them hip flexors and foot drills

There are things called scouting reports bud. Most WRs in the league have limited route trees. Maybe 10 WRs in the league that can run any type of route efficiently
Then you got things like which players on the field and how they are lined up, field position, what the score is what down it is how much time is left
There are so many aspects that you can resonably rule out many possibilities before each snap
Facts. It’s a lonely island playing corner. Almost feels like you are playing by yourself. You have no room for error

He played with nobody with the Jets for the most part. The plus on him is the ball comes great out of his hand. The minus was he has a hero complex forcing the ball where it shouldn't. That could be coached out of him. He played well the one with Giants game despite being pressured but Giants fans couldn't help but to throw a fit. Part of it Mike Francesca riling them up. Maybe Mike should just run the Giants.

Shouldn't Geno Smith be focused on being a QB? QB is playing golf. You don't need to do all those AB workouts. Push-ups, chin-ups and some yoga will be good enough.

@@bobbtjam2286 naaa. QB is more mental than it is physical. Of course it helps to work out to take hits and throw further but more important is making the right throws at high percentage and it takes a lot of QB IQ.

Franc Mittelo, this is why Geno is not a top notch QB, he doing pointless drills, when he need to be to be establishing a bond with his wide receivers in seattle...he and his wide receivers need train together and create a bond...yet he doing useless drills with AB... lol

Being in "great shape" is very subjective, and conditional on very wide continuum.
We can all agree that in the modern NFL where defenders are not even allowed to tackle the QB, a QB who spends time trying to get in "elite Wider Receiver" shape is wasting a lot of his time.
Especially a QB who has yet to prove that he can even be competent in his position.
An easy jog 3 times per week, a sprint session 1 time per week, with regular push-ups, chin-ups and yoga is enough athleticism for a QB.
You can throw in dead-lifts and squats once or twice per week.
Basically, regular fit Joe athleticism is good enough for a QB.
Doing what AB is doing is too much for a QB and (1) Wasting time (2) Putting you at greater risk for injuries (3) Putting too much torque strain on the joints.
AB level athleticism is not a QB requirement in 2019.
I hope whoever else is on the Raiders is working as hard as AB is right now.

Why we gotta see every minute of this guys offseason? Who cares? I get working hard in the offseason...but why film and post it? Guys wanna be counted as winners in the off-season when there’s no defense? Like the legendary Bruce Lee said “boards don’t hit back!”
Wide receivers these days benefit from the no chucking rule. The NFL set up the league to become a pass first league because they were suffering from low ratings in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Fans wanted to see more action and scoring from teams during an era where the league was run first and the game was decided by low scoring and running the football, it was a game of inches. Small Receivers these days arent allowed to be touched beyond five yards where as Bigger receivers were fighting in between routes to make plays down field in the earlier era of football. If those same rules applied today receivers would take a dip in numbers statistically. Its not that corner is the hardest position to play, the rules make it hard to play cornerback.

Having played strong safety in high school, a defensive back is one of the hardest positions on the field to play. Some key aspects that I remember:
- Play the pass 1st and the run 2nd.
- Don't ever get "turned around." (Know where the quarterback is and the receiver.)
- Never let the receiver get behind you. Never.
- If the receiver does make a catch, make him pay for it. (Tackle him as hard as you can. He'll remember you.)
