As a senior golfer, I recognize that the difference in golf balls declines exponentially with swing speed. My wife, an avid golfer, can’t slice her driver because her swing speed doesn’t generate enough ball speed to create the necessary spin. She commonly flys her driver shot 145 yards, occasionally 175, with a skip to the right when it hits the ground. But, she’s always in the fairway. I’ve bought the lady Precept, Titleist ProV1, Bridgestone E6 soft, and she finally settled on the Calloway Super Soft. I have discovered that at our age that the slower your swing, the more important “feel” becomes. So, the 5-700 difference in spin rpm becomes meaningless if you don’t hit the ball at the optimum speed. The difference you saw in the 2 balls you tested, would be statistically zero if I did the same test. I appreciate your comment about there being so little difference in the performance of balls, as I was about to give in to the hype about that self repairing resin coating and the massive difference that was being claimed in the advertising. They’re great balls, no doubt, competitive with any premium ball in the world, better than some. But, are premium golf balls the right choice for us “old guys and gals”? In my wife’s case, the Calloway SuperSoft is worth every penny. She rarely loses a ball and they come in pink! As for me, the Wilson Elite 50, Duo and Zip sure seems to work well.

Been using Chrome Soft and Truvis, but recently changed to the Supersoft. Great round the greens, love the soft feel. I tend to hit the ball high so the lower spin numbers have made longer/full shots more controllable. Haven't noticed any problems with stopping the ball. Also 2/3rd the price..................I lose them before wearing them out, lol.

Same. I used to play Chrome Softs too, but just switched to the Super Soft. I also hit my shots very high and found it fairly easy to control my draw with the super soft. Distance was spot on too. I’ve also started putting with the ERC Soft ball. Love the feel and look with the 3 lines. Haven’t hit full shots with it yet though.

Thanks Rick. Definately Supersoft is my favorite as putting with a soft ball really feels great and builds confidence. I find the reduced spin also helps reduce slices on Drivers. I hate losing these beauties! The Yellow ball helps my poor eye sight. They also now come in funky matt finish greens and reds to freak out your playing partners!
My other go to soft choices would be Wilson, DuoSoft or 50/50. Thanks again, love your videos!

Took up golf in March of this year & was recommended the SuperSofts featured in this video. I bought mine in bright orange matte finish as they were on offer & from a beginners perspective, I can recommend highly. I get good feel from around the green & consistent flight with them, and the bright orange finish makes them really pop in the rough. Rick is right about the durability & spin, they do scuff up quickly and the balls can roll off a green if your not careful. Even when they're not on offer, they're a good price so I'd recommend the Callaway Supersofts to anyone who is starting out or needs good balls on a budget.
Having said all of that, I'm now considering going to a harder golf ball & I'm really glad you did this video Rick. I may well go for a box of the Chrome Soft balls just to see if I can get a difference. Many thanks, Matt

been quite a few years since I used a Callaway golf ball, but always liked using them when I did. I would very happily try the supersoft ball, as I really love the softer feel balls and will happily put up with a bit of scuffing for that additional feel around the green. I think the supersoft would be great for windy days and playing links golf, where keeping the ball down and making chip n run shots would be the order of the day. As much as like a ball to be able to spin nicely off a wedge, there are times that will forgo that.

Great review Rick! I know most of us believe that the softer the ball feels the more spin we should be getting. Therefore we think we get more back spin on the greens. Chrome soft in my opinion is the best premium ball on the market. When comparing to pro v, the chrome soft feels much better on putts and shots around the greens. The pro v feels much harder and that clicking sound when putting makes me prefer the chrome soft a lot more.

Started playing a bit more this year and bought a sleeve of Chrome Soft's in the clubhouse on one of my rounds. What I love about the Supersoft balls is they come in high vis orange, which I find very easy to see both in flight and on short grass. And they’re cheaper than Volvik Vivid.
As a beginner I can’t tell any difference in golf balls, price is more important when I’m always losing them in bushes or water hazards.

I've been playing the Top Flite Gamer (and later the Urethane cover Gamer Pro) for the past few years and have been very happy with it. Great feel, plenty of spin, durable and very affordable - what's not to like? Last fall I tried the Chrome Soft and fell in love. It's got an even softer cover, loads of spin but not quite as affordable (fortunately I don't lose that many balls anymore). I was getting a *lot* more spin off my irons - the first time I was backing the ball up with an 8 iron - and that sealed the deal. I've been playing the Chrome Soft since last fall and haven't had any regrets.

For years been a Srixon soft feel player, found a Supersoft on the course, used it and lost it straightaway, but loved the feel. I hit the ball low and with little spin anyway so I use Supersoft for comp days and my "store" of soft feels for general play. I'm not a long hitter but definitely gain 10 yards on irons with the supersoft, more with the big dog. Chrome soft "feels" hard to me now. I must try out Srixon's Ultisoft.

Been playing the chrome soft for some time and happy with them. Then given some supersofts a few months ago and they are brilliant (for me) i play off 13 and its mostly about the putter feel for me. They definitely wear out quicker the chrome softs but i cant see any difference in holding the greens. Maybe a lower handicapper who can create more spin will see the benefit. Price isnt the issue for me, i just want to use the ball which helps me better my scores.

Hello Rick. I love the SuperSoft. I find that it fits my slower swing speed. It is very forgiving. I did pickup a box of Kirkland golf balls. I played 9 holes this Monday at a links style course near my home in St George Utah in the US. The Kirkland balls felt very good. Great feel around the greens. This link style course has very large greens with a lot of angulation. I had a shot from the fringe that was about 95 feet. I used my 6 iron and it came off the face very well and rolled within 3 to 4 feet. Only negative was I lost about 10 to 15 yards which is not good because I am not that long off the tee. Typical drive is about 225 yards. Just found your channel a few months ago. Love the Channel. Thanks!

Been a big fan of the Taylormade balls over the last couple years. Penta TP3 has been my favourite so far but I havnt had a chance to try the new TP5 range yet.

You're review matches my sentiment exactly. I love hitting SuperSoft but they will not stay on the green on approach shots.

After watching this, I am going to buy some SuperSofts to try out. I am not a long hitter but am generally very straight and want to see how they perform for me with the short irons. It's winter here in Michigan so I am getting cabin fever waiting for spring.

Enjoyed this review. Could you do a similar one with the Srixon range of balls, including the newest Soft Feel?

I was using the Chrome Soft Truvis. But got a few dozens of Nike Rzn for very low price during their liquidation. Wow those were amazing golf balls! Thinking of picking up a few more on ebay.

Hey Rick great video as always I would like to see you review some of the smaller ball manufactures, like Snell, and Vice. Like to know your opinion on them and see what kind of data you can come up with compared to the big boys.

Great videos. I'd love to see a golf ball match up video pitting snell mtb red vs vice pro vs cut blue golf balls.

Great Vid Rick. I am a callaway fanboy. I have tried them all and pretty much have the same exact opinions. At the end of the day I game the supersoft.
