Yes expansion is of same kind in plastics too. But the plastics have a lower expansion coefficient as compared to metals. Which means on heating at same temperature the metals expand more as compared to plastics.

Real me Expansion bahut kam hota hai kyuki rails pieces me lagai jaati hai. Ex: agar koi rail 6 meter ki November ke dino me (temp 20 deg) lagai gayi to may me (temp 50 deg) expansion sirf 4 millimetre ka hoga. Yani ki bahut kam.
