As a Great Ife alumnus (86), l am appalled and disappointed by the sense of entitlement of those so-called protesters. Ife is a federal university. One of the things l loved about Ife was the diversity of the students and especially the staff. I had Ghanaians, Americans, Indians, Ivy-league trained lecturers, Ekitis, Bendelites, Ondos, Ibos, Egba, Port Harcourt, Cross River, Oyo Ogbomosho, Ijebus etc as lecturers. As long as you are smart and can contribute to the ideals of the university , you were hiredI! I never felt their ethnicity mattered. They were amazing teachers, librarians, administrators, etc. The protesters should have been arrested. If their so called candidate has anything to do with it, he should be fired. The university has done great things for Ife. UniIfe remains the most beautiful university in the 🌎. I got a superb education cos of the diversity of talents at the university. Please do Not destroy the diversity of ideas and hard work with this sense of entitlement.
Before commenting, I believe it is right for us to have a background knowledge of the protest. What makes Oau great is in its fight for Justice. The best approach is for the university governing body to publicly showcase the criteria for selection of the VC and why other candidates were eliminated. A free and fair system is not too much to ask for.
As a GREAT IFE alumnus, I have witnessed so much issues on campus that people outside the university only make comments based on the light info they have. You cannot know great Ife affairs unless you are great ife. Protest is protest whether Trad, Xtian, Moslem or whatever. While on the campus, we witnessed several of such protests when NASU OR ASUU went on strike within the campus and different traditionalists (OAU ACADEMIC AND NON ACADEMIC STAFF) would protest with all sorts of charms. Don't forget Ile-Ife is the source of the yoruba tradition and culture. Permit me to step aside by saying Justice should be served. Greatest ife, articulate Ife, Aluta Kontinua Vitoria Ascerta.
Fun to see that no one is saying Yorubas don't love themselves or Yorubas aren't United but if it has happened in Igboland we would have being hearing all sorts of rubbish...
Hey! Indigen???or what?. OBAFEMI AWOLOWO WHO INSTITUTED OAU where did he came from??. This is an eye sore for things like this happening in a citadel of knowledge?. Has school turned out to be the affairs of traditionalists??. I can't figure out whats really happening in Nigeria or yoruba land. This is disgusting

It’s their fundamental right to protest
Those people must be out of their mind.

This is preposterous. It shows how sick Nigeria is.

I think this so called protest might not have been successful if the Academic Activities is going on.. #ASUUSTRIKE
