Steffan Pila Fantastic Live Version of "The Chequered Flag" (Dead Or Alive). This is a very rare live version of "The Chequered Flag", which they play very rarely after the "Too Old For Rock N' Roll, Too Young To Die" Tour of 1976. Thank you for posting this!!!
Yeah, I would love to see more photos from early 76. I bought a book with a whole photo shoot from the rotterdam show in early May 76 with ian still in his minstrel outfit. The best book I've ever bought!. Nick
Yes TullTapes. Nice shots. See that photo of Ian with the beer at 1:00? That's how he looked when he appeared on that episode of The Midnight Special on June 25, 1976. (Same hair and black t-shirt.) However, he had a cigarette in his hand instead of a beer. lol I was just a youngster, but I stayed up late to watch it. I remember it well. Too bad Burt Sugarman never released that Ian segment on the Midnight Special DVD series. Oh well... maybe in the future.
Yes, I've never seen these 1976 shots before. (The "blue outfit" shots are from the American leg of the TOO OLD tour during the summer of 1976.) It would be nice if someone could uncover more photos from the May 1976 European tour, where Ian was still wearing his Minstrel outfit. Those photos are few and RARE. Too bad they didn't play Cherqued Flag, Taxi Grab, Whizz Kid, Big Dipper, etc. for the American tour. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS GREAT STUFF.
All you have to do is look at the back of the Warchild album if you want to see a clean shaven Ian! (The Ian behind "god" David Palmer, is cut and pasted in!) Find the Ian that was present at the photoshoot!!
Ian got married in January 1976. In fact, that photo at 4:29 is from his wedding day. It was the first time Ian was seen without a beard in many many years.
Yeah, I saw your pics of it in this video. That book is really nice. Thanks for uploading all your rare stuff, gagio! We should do another trade soon. Nick
One of the most underrated prog songs of all time.

yes, of course
nice rare 76 shots
Yes Nick. I've heard you mention that book before. What's the name of it?
Is it available on AMAZON?
He looks so different here. I wonder why he trimmed his beard for this tour. Maybe to look different than Ray Lomas?
