    The dealer quoted me over $2700 to do this job, and I completed it (with the help of your video) successfully! I appreciate your detailed posting of this video, and keep them coming! You never know how you can help someone with these repair videos! Thanks again!

      uniy123 wow yeah the dealer is very expensive sometimes $90 an hour to 125 an hour but I work on cars on the side because mechanic business is very crooked and dishonest and my price would have been around thousand bucks

    Thanks for the help! We had been trying to time it by the small mark on the intake sprocket and knew something wasn't right. Thanks to your video we saw we were meant to use the large grooved mark!

    Your assessment of the timing marks and alignment is exactly correct according to the factory service manual. Your information is spot on.

      Just thought I'd say thanks for the info. Im sure you know the reason why all the info is backwards Steven. 06 and earlier motors where set up in reverse. Intake on earlier models was in back of motor and exhaust in front.

    You are exactly right. Did you have issues removing the Valve timing control solenoid valve ? bolt is removed, alittle spin movement, but I dont want to pull to much. Can the cover be removed in car with solenoid in place ?

  • @1120ff

    Yes that is what he is calling for is the red gasket make sure you unhook two of the motor mounts allowing the motor to lift up easier and drop down formic NuvaRing the timing cover out because that alone is a chore and yes it allows you to move to align back to top dead center and yes the tensioner is oil field and it has a pen do not pull the pain until for sure you have it aligned I bought the timing chain kit but it came with more gaskets that I needed due to universal kit where it can fit more than one vehicle so don't be alarmed when you have more gaskets left over when I got done at head for power that it did from the factory it seems like to me

    My upper chain off Mark but the lower chain ok and tight I did align the bottom perfectly after turning the crank many times
    My question is for the top long chain do I have to take top of valve Cover off to make sure the came lobes are correct or can I just turn them to the correct position with out seeing if came lobes are in correct position

    How did you get the crank pully bolt off. I tried all the tricks. I have a impact gun. Crank pully shattered when i held it in place with and tried to use a breaker bar.

    My '07 is shaking while accelerating in 5th and 6th gear. It shakes to about 3500rpm and then goes away. Definitely not tires. I was showing a misfire and changed the coil pack. Runs much better, but the shaking is still there. Could a stretched timing chain be causing this? The engine is at 240,000 miles.

    • @1120ff
      @1120ff  5 лет назад

      Could have a weak spark plug under a load or a fuel delivery problem or a cam sensor just gonna have to find out more before you start changing parts

    • @bradh6185
      @bradh6185 5 лет назад

      @@1120ff I have already changed plugs. When the shaking goes away at 3500rpms, there is an instant dramatic increase in power. A cam sensor would show a code, wouldn't it?

    • @1120ff
      @1120ff  5 лет назад

      A stretched timing chain could cause it it's hard to tell best thing I would dois check for timing because when the RPMs get up the timing changes but if a cam sensor is still reading it won't throw a code it will just change the injector pulse or spark

    my 2008 nissan sentra timing chain has stretched to the point where it will no longer start. it has not broke but is just not in time enough to fully start and run. do you think the valves are bent? the chain kit is only $69 on ebay, but i do not want to have to do a valve job on the head as well.

    • @1120ff

      @davidwoodyard9604 5 лет назад

      @@1120ff yes a few months before it quit on me, it did have a loud growling noise when i started it in the morning. i assume it was from the chain slack. when it quit on me, i changed all the sensors myself then i took it to a nissan mechanic. they reported to me that it was out of time. it will hit a few times when trying to start it and the cams are turning. i was going to install one of the timing chain kits myself unless there is a possibility the valves are bent. any thoughts? either way, i found your video very informative.

    • @davidwoodyard9604
      @davidwoodyard9604 5 лет назад

      but it does not make any noise when i try to start it, and like i said it will slightly fire on some occasions. so i am sure it is not broke completely.

    • @1120ff
      @1120ff  5 лет назад

      I'm sure you will be ok but if it jumps 2 teeth it's done so it's close if it don't fire check compression in all 4 cylinders and make sure it holds compression

    Ola um Nissan com esse motor e ele esta rangido aos 3mil rpm parecido com um barulho de rolamento estourado ou um carro com direção hidráulica sem óleo, acho que ja imaginou como é o barulho que estou tentando descrever, já foi trocado rolamentos do alternador esticador correia e efetuado testes no compressor do ar condicionado, aparentemente é o motor mesmo, você sabe me informar como é o barulho dessa corrente interna quando esta se danificando

    • @1120ff
      @1120ff  6 лет назад

      Darianne Goodman what kind of problems are you having with a chain,, did it break?? because if it did good chance you bent valves if the chain is making noise you should be good to replace and is it worth it depending on year and Blue Book value it's a tough job skill level is about 6 or so and please take your time to clean surfaces well before installing back together

      steven harter So it was running about a month ago I came home from work parked and when I came back out and tried to start it it wouldn’t it would just turn over and try to start. I just got a battery and a new camshaft so I thought it was the starter. I got a new starter and it still wouldn’t start so they told me it was the timing belt. I have an 2008 Sentra as well and before I put any more money into it I was just looking up some videos and stuff on it

    • @dariannegoodman255

      steven harter I’m not sure if it broke or not

    • @1120ff
      @1120ff  6 лет назад

      Well you can take the valve cover off and quickly bump the starter with a key and see if the cams are moving if they are not it's broke and if they do the noise is probably coming from the lower end I ran across one that the main bearing in the lower end was making noise I replaced the motor

      Make sure all the bolts are off and the variable timing solenoid out and of course the engine mount and don't forget about the bolts going up into the timing cover from inside the oil pan so the oil pan has to come down as well

      Trevor Barnes sorry for being so late but I missed your message but to take the cover off you got to take the idler pulley off the motor mount off all the belts and there are several boats I think it was 16 mm or 17 mm and some 10mm all of them's got to come off including the idler pulley for the serpentine belt
