I ran across a denture brush hanging on a peg. Curved handle, one side quite stiff standard brushhead, other side is a pointed brushhead same stiffness. Kinda handy for cleaning a number of things.
Cheers graham love the Trangia got 3 myself cooked all sorts of dishes on it bit slower than gas but when your in the great outdoors cooking and relaxing camping who wants to rush love the camp fire like quality of the spirit burner pots and pans pack away neatly with burner in the middle and if you shop around you can get cheap meths and price reductions Eco methanol thanks graham for your helpful tips
Excellent tips Graham! Letting it cool down before you put the lid on I learned the hard way. Not all methanol burns the same, some dirtier and cooler than others. Here in the U.S. I found a product made by Gunk which is air brake anti-freeze and rust guard works the best. It contains methanol and benzotriazole, and works better than any I've tried. Love the quiet of the Trangia, and their cook sets are fantastic. When it gets down below 30f I have to go to four season gas, and below 10f a wood fire. Below that, get my butt inside the house!!! Great video as always, thank you! Ossie
Been trying to figure out how to clean my Aladdin Kero Heater/Cooker , it's gunked up with cooked on carbon deposits from kerosine . Couldn't decide how to get it off without damaging the brass burner basket . Thanks Graham !
How come the stove got in that state in the first place?? I can only assume that you leave the meths in the stove, but did you know, the meths is water based and will excelarate the rusting time on these, and I think that is why it is so dirty.
No debes de utilizar un clip metálico, usa un alambre de cobre y afila su punta, el cobre son material blando y no va a abrir las aberturas de los jets, porque si lo haces con un clip realmente vas a modificar la abertura de salida es muy mala idea
Sorry mate, but is that your idea of cleaning up your stove, I dread to think what your pots and pans look like. the nice yellow flame shows you it is NOT clean, sorry for the negative comment, but someone needed to tell you.
I used 75/25 Alcohol and 100% acetone in my old Trangia. Hell of a flame.. I don't know it that was a good idea, didn't leave any sort of residue on my stove or pot or foul odors.
I also use a tootbrush around the top to get the soot off, and finally a nice polish with Duraglit, comes up better than new 😀👍🏻
Good tip

The good thing with Trangia stoves is there is very little to go wrong / break / malfunction

That did the job nicely....you could see it burning much better...nice one Graham.
If you are going to store the burner for a long time then it is recommended you store it empty , which i did not .. oops
*****
I don't usually either....good tip .Cheers.
Another tip I learned is to put a little bit of water in with the Metho, this stops the soot buildup on your pots. No more than 10%
Good tip

Oil tip was a winner thanks
Cheers
Good info for people that use them, thanks for sharing this :-))
I use a small brass brush ;-))
Nice one
When cleaning , I've found a pot scoured works ( soft green ones ) then a good rinse ...he presto ....
A little bit of steel or brass wool will go a long way. Water is not necessary. I use a safety pin to prick the jets & it always works stellar.
Cheers
hey just woundered how the burner would work after the cloth inside of it have sucked up water?
Worked fine when meths was put in , if you add a little water to the meths it prevents the bottom of the pan getting sooty and black

True , i have to admit i do leave meths in the burner while Trangia recommend the burner should be emptied
Interesting comment as brass is non-ferrous and therefore will not rust. Regards Broadlander
thanks for the how to, graham:)
Cheers
Is that an "Endo" file cleaning the jets? ;)
Thanks for the information! :-)
Cheers
put a drop of water in the meths and it doesn't soot anywhere near as bad. lights better in the cold I find too
Good tip

How do you clean it then?
