The only reason I started buying Matco tools was because of the the blue handle ratchet and all the hype about the fact that Matco listened to its customers. I thought that was 1 of the best things they can do as a company. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS! The very first Matco tool I ever bought was the 18” 3/8” drive blue handled ratchet. I have since purchased a ton of tools from Matco. Because of that BLUE handled ratchet. Everyone at my shop bought every blue handled ratchet our dealer could get. I sure hope they don’t get rid of the blue handles. Who cares if Cornwell has blue handles? I know I don’t. They have square handles and those aren’t comfortable. Snap-on has red and black. Mac has red and black. Gearwrench has red and black. I think saying a “competitor” has the same color is a poor excuse. Sorry Clay. Rant over.
Hey man I am 💯 percent with you! I know guys that HATED Matco but they bought a blue handled ratchet for the same reason…. They listened to the customers and now buy tools from Matco. Why punch everyone of those guys in the face now?

I literally bought 2 3/8 matco ratchets I think the 15 and 18 length just because of the blue handles. They have been my daily use everyday now. That fact that they had a blue soft grip sold me I didn't care for the price once I saw the blue.

I’m in Australia and we don’t even have matco , but those blue matco ratchets are fine!! Let’s face it the big tool truck companies manufacturing in the USA all make great tools . Most the time where and what you buy is purely based on colour preferential . If the people want it , make it . Otherwise people will happily buy at alternate companies

Like at this stage of the game you’re worrying about offending someone at Cornhole for having a blue handle. When pretty much the blue handle got a lot of folks to try Matco. I for one am die hard Snap On ratchet fan. But I bought a blue Matco. Because of my blue Land Cruiser and to try out something different.

What about Snap-On red? Red is really a color that people associate with Snap-On tools, not Matco or even Mac, even though Mac's air tools are red. Matco is going to miss out on a lot of sales if they don't expand the blue tool line. Being disabled I spend a hell of a lot of time in bed watching RUclips because it takes my mind off the pain. A good bit of my working life was spent working on heavy equipment or cars and trucks and just the sound of the air tools and trying to figure out what is wrong with something really makes my mind focus on that and not pain. Back to the blue ratchets, I can't tell you the number of the tool or automotive repair videos I have watched and the guy's on those channels are showing off the new blue ratchet's they got from their Matco dealer.

When it comes to tool handles MAC were the first to go with red 40 years ago. Snap-on started offering orange as an alternative to their standard black about 10 years later. Then as the '90's rolled on the tool trucks started looking like rainbows LOL.

I wasn't considering buying a new ratchet until I saw a black and blue ratchet on the truck, and I already have that ratchet in chrome with no comfort. The black and blue is sick, and I made up my mind the other day that this week when the truck comes around I would buy it. I think I would buy more matco tools if they did more blue, it's my favorite color, and I always wondered why they didn't have many blue and red tools considering its in their logo, although I do like the orange and burgundy as well.
Stop buying Matco colored tools until they have the color you want. If you want blue, don’t settle for any other color. If sales decrease

The ONLY reason I've bought 2 Matco ratchets so far, was because of the blue handles. I don't have a local distributor, so I had to order and pay full price up front without having ever seen or used them in person. Between Clay saying they're a good tool, and the blue handles, that's how you got the sale. I don't necessarily need, but do want a few other ratchets now after using the 2 I bought, but I'm waiting and hoping they'll become available with blue handles. As soon as they do, if they do, I'll pull the trigger right away. Until then I'll just have to keep hoping that someone at Matco corporate gets off their high horse and says let's offer everything in blue. I don't need a new set of screw drivers, or hammers, or picks or anything else like that, but if they were in blue, I might need them all of the sudden. Just saying. "Matco Blue" is a great color and it should replace that terrible crimson or whatever it is. Quit screwing around, let's make it happen, and sell a lot of new tools to a lot of new and existing customers.

I want to see more blue tools. You're right they need to just from brand strategy, use the colors they have on the side of the truck and for the love of Pete drop the maroon color altogether. Matco rebranded themselves years ago and they still want to cling to the old rather than make the changes to be competitive.

Witte makes Blue and black handle maxxpro screwdrivers. Which are Matco Top Torque II. Made in Germany with a lifetime warranty
Mayhew makes the Dominator (3 sided handle not the square handle) pry bars with blue and black handles. Made in USA (Massachusetts) with a lifetime warranty
Trusty Cook makes a variety of sizes ball peen and soft face dead blow hammers in blue (albeit darker then matco blue). Made in the USA.
Customer service/purchasing experience and handling of warranty would be the main differences.
Things holding back other blue Matco tools is the quantity Matco has to manufacture or order to be profitable. Matco has to look at their market as a whole to maximize sales and revenue for all their distributors. How much distributor interest is there in stocking another color. Different shops and users may prefer a brighter green or orange to find at a glance. Also, they have to consider if blue is a fade, a novelty or is here to stay.
Michael did say he was going lean on other distributors for blue ratchets for the meet-up. So blue may not be a bigger on some trucks.
Maybe various blue tools could be released as a limited edition color. Or maybe as a special order. Then Matco could use these sales as a temperature check and market research for different colors.
If I recall many tool trucks make pink tools, which probably are a small percentage overall sales. Are pick tools special order on the trucks?
I bought a 18" long 3/8" drive matco locking flex head orange handle chrome ratchet to replace my snapon ratchet and it became my most used and grabbed for ratchet in my toolbox. I loved it so much I bought a second one in the blue and black chrome and I have a 1/4 drive locking flex head in the blue handle and black chrome on order. I love the blue handle matco came out with! Especially with the black chrome! The blue handle with the black chrome looks awesome and definitely stands out! If matco came out with the blue color on more tools, I would definitely buy more matco tools! Clay thanks for getting me hooked on matco's ratchet! Love your channel!

You’re identifying several valid points. Matco has blue in their logo and as long as they don’t call it “Blue Power” than there’s no infringement. The color isn’t copyrighted. If it’s popular than they should capitalize on the opportunity to generate new customer sales ultimately expanding their brand. Matco is always catching hell for “rebranding” a large majority of their products. So how would a company known for rebranding and/or not manufacturing any of their hardline tools in house, have an integrity issue based on a color? I’d say that the marketing personnel need to relook at what marketing and branding actually consist of. I have an awesome Matco dealer and the products they carry are quality, despite who makes them. Drop the “integrity” argument and just say you’re scared of any legal issues that may come from a full release of blue tools.
I met antron brown at a race, super cool guy and he actually let me sit in his dragster and took pictures with me and my brother inside. I've liked antron and matco ever since.
Perhaps Matco can step it up and color code their size of ratchets!

So definitely blue over red but honestly maybe do a different shade of blue then cornwell then it wouldnt be compared to cornwell do like a high vis blue maybe but honestly just a normal blue i think is better than red plus no one has it so easier to tell that its mine

I bought my a matco 1/2" ratchet just because of blue handle. There is something with blue mayhew has blue handle prybar but it's more expensive than other colors.

No offense to Cornwell but they are not on the same level as the “big 3”. I have never even seen a Cornwell tools truck. So Matcos reasoning sounds like some BS to me. I am not a frequent tool truck buyer, but when there is something I want the MAC and Snap-On guys live a few blocks away while Matco is a town over. The ONLY reason Matco is even on my radar is because of Clay’s videos with Michael and the blue ratchets.

I myself got a blue handle soon as I saw it. Happened to need a new locking flex head, had a blue handle... bam. Sold rite away (along with the review I saw on here of why Matco locking flex heads are better than snap on’s locking mechanism). Anyways I want to get a black chrome/blue 1/4” locking flex head also. And probably even the 1/2” long handle black chrome and blue handle.

It’s already a different shade. It’s just a piss poor excuse not to expand the line of tools and it’s a sad one at that. Guys bought blue to have a different color than everyone else in the shop and hoped to expand it across the like and they pump the brakes on it. That’s wrong to everyone that wanted to grow the like and have something different in a shop full of guys for easy identification

I just bought a blue and black 3/8" locking flex head ratchet this month I was planning on getting a 1/4" and 1/2"
My Matco box is blue, my car is blue, I’d you had blue I would buy it. I like to buy my tool colors to match drive types and screwdriver styles. My flat and Philips are red, my 1/4 ratchets are red, 3/8 green, and 1/2 orange. straight tip pry bars orange curved green. Makes it easier to know what I’m grabbing. Blue would be another option for this.
