  • There's an exception to every rule and in the case of "staying the HELL away from people's haggard project cars," this 1995 VR6-swapped VW Cabrio was the exception. After stumbling across a Facebook Marketplace ad, I flew from Columbus, Ohio to Seattle, Washington and bought the car sight-unseen. I completely trusted my intuition on this purchase and bought it because, well, the listing photos were great -- a shocking lack of self-tappers, duct tape, exposed wiring... you get the point. The swap looked FACTORY and to the "untrained" eye, would raise approximately zero red flags. Did my intuition steer me wrong or did I make it home? Stay tuned to find out
