    I've had a ton of Garmin watches over the years - many of them had mushy buttons. I've always gone to Garmin support (using their chat on the website) and gotten it replaced. Mushy or inconsistent buttons are not what they intend - but they do need to fix their quality controls in the manufacture process.

    Some reviewers rush to upload vids just to get there first and make impressions, without really getting acquainted with their object. . This is how reviews should be executed. It's reviews like yours which really give a clear insight to all of us prospective buyers. I'm currently torn between this one and the Huawei GT4. Thanks for all the insights provided. Looking forward to some more on this watch.

    I have this watch for two weeks as well, had to switch from GalaxyActive2 that conviniently died a few days after the release of Venu3. I have 40mm grey version Venu3s, back side plastic panel does look a bit cheap, I regred now not going for darker version. Buttons on my version all feel the same. Still getting used to switch form Samsung watch and I find Garmin connect app a bit cumbersome and not very user friendly. Afer wearing watch for two weeks straight, swimming with it and sleeping, my left wrist developed a rash from the silicon bracelet, that never happened to me before with GalaxyActive2, simply because I had to put it on charger every single night :D Now trying textlie and metalic bracelets from Amazon. Other than that it's a great watch, worth buying even if only because of its battery. Nap tracking works great, only it doesn't disable notification, or maybe I didn't find such function yet.

    First thing I did was check the buttons. Got mine a couple of days ago... no variation that I can detect on the tactile "push" feeling. The watch is more or less exactly what I want... a nice upgrade from the original Venu. Great video!

    Great review, Ryan! I wish this one were 43mm with the strap and had the case back of the Garmin Venu 2 Plus. The display, although bigger, seems to have a larger font size, making it look a bit cramped.

    Great bite size information, thank you!
    How much do you use the speaker?
    I’m torn between the Instinct 2X and this one.
    I really like the training readiness of the 2X but cognisant that I may not use half its features, and love the idea of a more practical watch! Your thoughts please?

    • @RyansTechMedia
      @RyansTechMedia  9 месяцев назад +3

      I used the mic and speaker 99% for phone calls and 1% for using the assistant. I used the Venu 2 Plus the same way and very regularly. There is something convenient about making phone calls on your watch. The Instinct 2X is a rugged and bad-ass looking watch. So it all depends on your lifestyle. For example you can wear the Venu 3 with a suit, but the Instinct 2X would look a little funny and probably a bit uncomfortable under the sleeve of a button down shirt. It's also a good idea to try them on at a local store, when in doubt.
      Thanks for watching!

    I have a Vivoactive 4.... battery is not like it used it be. Looking around, it seems the Venu 3 is a solid replacement, no deductions in features (the Vivoactive 5 loses stair climbing features, that I use on my 4), and I used to have a Pebble Steel watch, that I loved in the day, and that had voice texting, this seems like a step up from that.
    $449 seems steep on the price point but, I'll get over it at some point....

    Re: mushy buttons. I tried both a Venu 3 and 3s. In the 3s, all three buttons felt nice and clicky. But in the Venu 3, all three buttons felt mushy -- I could press them most of the way down without actually registering a click. It did feel like a quality control issue to me.

      Hey Paul! If you mean in terms of comfort, it's one of the most comfortable Garmin watches, or any watches, I've worn during sleep. But in terms of accuracy, it's not as good as Oura. If you are looking for a good alternative to Oura ring, I've been using another smart ring that you can check out. Stainless steel is a very poor choice of watch back case - due to nickle allergies. Would be better in aluminim or titanium which are much more hypoallergenic (especially the titanium) - but again very expensive. Probably reason why not stainless but rather plastic to resolve allergy issues.

    Great review. I’ve had the Venu 3 41mm for about a week. I like it very much as I’m focused on rest and recovery at the moment, making my Forerunner too trainings-focused for now. The buttons on mine are…weird. The top and bottom ones click well, but the middle one barely gives any feedback at all. What is up with that, Garmin?
    The most annoying feature I’ve noticed, which would’ve been so easy to do right, is there’s no way I can see to establish multiple timers. I use a variety of timers for both cooking and for gym work and I’m sad I can only set one at a time. I think you can set 10 on the Forerunner. The other annoyance is that my bank, Wells Fargo, stopped allowing new Garmins to use their cards. I bought the Forerunner several months ago, and the card is on there and works fine. What’s with that, WF? Ugh. This makes the “smart” Watch capabilities much reduced.

      @RyansTechMedia  9 месяцев назад

      WF claims they announced it (I spoke to their phone rep), but I never saw the announcement. They also said they may reinstate the ability to add cards to the new Garmins but, could give me no timeline for that. Very frustrating.

    Great review :) I must admit I am sending mine back. It bugs me that I can get 1000+ steps in a 2 hour car drive when I'm a passenger whilst my Apple Watch added zero for the same journey. I also bought the Forerunner 265 but had the same issue. Although the UX is poor, Garmin Connect is so insightful.

      @youtubeuser1105 9 месяцев назад

      Sounds like a potentially faulty model? (I hope so, because that would be a major issue!). I have the original Venu and it doesn't add steps for car journeys. The Venu 3 is far too pricey to have that kind of flaw 😔.

    • @ChrisSh1984
      @ChrisSh1984 9 месяцев назад

      Thats what some people suggested on Reddit but I spoke to the UK support team and they said it was working "as expected". It equtes to about 200 steps in a 25 minute journey, which doesn't sound a lot but I work at a desk so hitting my 10k steps per day, regardless of any runs, is important to me. Such a shame as I loved the Forerunner 265. I agree about the price of the Venu 3. There's no way they can justify the cost compared to an Apple Watch@@youtubeuser1105

    Yikes. Seeing your HRV in the 70's and mine is 38-42. I'm also jealous of your sleep score. I can sleep 10 hrs and this watch gives me a 49 saying "non-restorative." My respiratory rates have been wild also showing dips as low as 6 while I sleep. I'm trying to figure out if this unit is inaccurate or if I need to worry that I stop breathing at night.

    • @RyansTechMedia
      @RyansTechMedia  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for sharing this! This hasn't been easy for me either and I've been actively working on it. But just as a guess, if you're sleeping 10 hours and things are still not optimal, it's an indication that the quality of your sleep hasn't been great, otherwise you might not have even needed to sleep that long. It's possible to have great stats with just 7 hours of quality sleep. In any case I'd definitely recommend visiting your doctor for a check-up including for sleep apnea.
