      Italian traditions

    • @joebloggs619
      @joebloggs619 4 года назад +1

      Not in Italian families where respect for elders is ingrained into kids from birth and is non negotiable. But the kids love their old folk and parents, despite the inevitable clashes of will, ideas etc between older and younger generations. Respect always prevails over these and it is a one way process only. The young must respect the older family members, not the reverse, lime in Anglo type societies.However the elders have responsibility to love and care for and advise their kids, though only up to a certain point in life,when they attain adulthood and must go get their own living and then also look after their olds as they grow old and frail. The way they cared for the kids, when they were young and vulnerable. The sorts of situations one commonly sees in Anglo type families in Austral ia would simply not be tolerated. Eg university students living at home after about age 17 or so, supported by parents as they study. Or the gross disrespect, even abuse Australian seniors are subjected to by their own kids. Or single pregnant girls returning home to have their illegitimate kids or do drug addiction detox etc with good old mum and dad taking care of them as mature adults, despite having been abused and discarded previously by such daughters. It's an entirely different family set up, where there are no issues with tge Anglo style patriarchy feminists in Australia go on about ad nauseum, though some may have a point sometimes, concerning Australian male behaviour being very chauvinistic, traditionally. Latin society is matriarchal and the mamma and nonna wield a lot of authority in the family, which, unlike in Anglo families, it actually increases with advancing years, instead of decreasing and it is unwise for younger family members, including males, to fail to carry out expected duties, responsibilties etc to the family unit. You soon know you have trangressed, in no uncertain terms and it is typically labelled "lack of proper respect". This concept of respect for elders in Latin society, like in many other societies eg Japanese, Chinese, even African tribes is very central to their societal order. Some, like very extremely religious Middle Eastern people take it to extremes and will even kill their much loved offspring who disrespect the family name ie honour killings, like Indians also have, for adulterous women or ones whose families provide insufficient dowrie. Which is pretty extreme. Why can't they simply say: Your daughter my son married is a crap wife, not enough dowrie, lousey cook, ugly, adulterous, unwilling to breed, does respect mother in law she hates etc ,so take her back. We want our son back to give to abetter wife, the marriage is unulled. No need to kill the defective bride in the cruel way they do ie ny burning her alive. Oddly enough, it is always the female who is found to be unacceptable, never the male. That is so seriously sexist and unjust. But it is part of their society's order of things. So.e of this kind of rot used to go onin old traditional Southern Italian societies eg if kids brought dishonour to the family name eg daughters or wives being less than pure, upright faithful, honourable virgins if single or faithful wives if married. There have been instances of "honour killings" of beloved misbehaving offspring, like one sees in Middle Eastern cultures, where angry fathers personally kill their own beloved daughters, for indulging in forbidden romantic liaisons. But, thankfully, that is now a thing of the past and most badly behaved kids simply get cut off, ostracised from the family, out on their own, disowned. They broke the rules, so nobody is obliged to own them, protect them, rescue them, bail them out of trouble etc, like Australian families do for such rebellious off spring. They must fend for themselves. Which I think is fair enough.

      @Rahm Minai-Far king David had a ruddy complexion which indicates that he has red or brown hair. Many people think that the descendents of Jacob's son Joseph migrated to western Europe and the British Isles. Many families have children with blond and black hair. Jacob's brother Esau had Red hair. There is no pure race Boaz married Ruth a Moabite. God is not interested in your DNA as much as your kindness and love for your fellow man. Be blessed in the name of Yeshua which means God's salvation.

    I believe she would have lived to be older but her only child my grandfather, had died about 5 years before and without him around who was the light of her life, I think it shortened her life. I believe she could have lived to be as old as this gentleman here.
    But I got to know her some, she was my great-grandmother, and she was such an amazing woman. She did a lot of things for her tribe. she's actually in the history books. She has 10 pages written about her online and her grandfather has 20 Pages written about him he was a Chieftain of the tribe and Medicine Man of the Cholula Indians! Curious if your grandfather is still alive in 2019?
    It's a blessing to have grandparents around as long as possible and to hear their stories. My grandfather lived to 98 when he passed in 2015. He told a doctor that the secret to his longevity was to choose your ancestors very wisely ...
    I think there are a number of things that contribute to longevity, and your precious grandfather mentioned one of them...a simple, mostly plant based diet. My grandfather also grew up eating from gardens, milk cow, and eggs from his mother's chickens. Family was really important to him too, and was drank alcohol in moderation and did not smoke....their you go - simple formula

    • @lileelisamc.4722
      @lileelisamc.4722 5 лет назад +2

      @@mikeb1031 thank you ....One of my friends is from Costa Rica where one of the blue zones is located. She grew up on a diet of beans, rice, and all the vegetables that could eaten from her mother's garden. Meat was consumed by her family in extreme moderation because they were poor. If one looks at the commonalities among blue-zone centenarians, one will see a theme . Ellsworth Wareham, MD was a 7th Day Adventist surgeon, that lived to 104 . He was a vegetarian his entire life.
      Keep in mind that Katie's grandfather and my grandfather grew up during the depression and a time when food was not processed and laden with chemicals and meat was at a premium. So my thoughts are that a moderate lifestyle, among other things, certainly can contribute to a long life...Their longevity is EVIDENCE of that. I am not sure what evidence Derpy is basing his comment on other than it is something that he read somwhere or viewed on a youtube. In spite of all that, my comment really wasn't designed to be a pissing match of plant based vs. meat eaters...silly, silly
      So really, bottom line, bless Katie and her grandfather and Blessed Memory to my own grandfather

      @@cornstar1253There is a clear link between over smoking and lung cancer. One who smokes for 30 to 40 yrs are also at risk of getting TB (tuberculosis). Smoking in moderation is okay but how long one lives depends on his or her karma or cause and effect (based on past lives) which pre-programs an individual's mindset and situations and circumstances. If you are hard wired to self destruct, you eventually die eg heavy drinkers die from cirrhosis. if you are a balanced person, still you could die due to some rare disease (which does not have a direct cause) or accident. It all boils down to an individual's pre-programmed karma or cause and effect based on past lives.
