That ending theme alone was a reward for making it so far.. and it definitely boosted the player to kick some ass. Legendary theme on a legendary game!
Had to.look this one up again. I literally beat hundreds of games, but this was the first one I ever beat and I will never forget it. I got him with a flying knee on the final hit. We had no idea what was happening as it slowed down, it took us a moment to realise I had beaten the game. That utter sense of disbelief is something I rarely experienced after that. Truly one of the best game memories I have.
I used to sweat so much playing this game. When I finally beat it I went to school and told my friends about the final ending during lunch time. Biggest worry back then was double dragon games and if my mom put shark bites in my lunch lol.
My 9 year old son and I just beat the game !!! Im 38 … I used to play whith my cousin all night long when I was 9 and never made it to the end … we would end up falling asleep playing it and the game frozen 😂😞… but now my mini me and me did it !!! Greatest feeling ever !!
Este fue el primer juego de nintendo que lo pase todo y es un gran juego que me costo llegar lejos y derrotar al último jefe, un juegazo con un final feliz.
I always thought the slow blinking eyes in the Haunted Mansion Level were supposed to be a reference to the still eyes that appear in the illusion part of the final boss fight.
After watching this week's "James & Mike" episode, James beat "Double Dragon 2" on the "Practice" mode, but the ending was different, but in this final boss video, it's on the "Supreme Master" mode which is hard and the enemies are more difficult. Best game for the NES, and Acclaim did a great job with this one. Tradewest also did the first one for the NES, along with this and "Double Dragon 3" are both made by Acclaim and of course "Battletoads & Double Dragon" from Tradewest which was the only game on the NES that featured the pairing from "Battletoads" and "Double Dragon".
The ninjas were a nice addition to the game. And so was the Shadow Master who you fight after the phantom is defeated. It'd be nice if they were added to the arcade version. But then again, there was Double Dragon Extreme, which is a combination of the NES and the arcade versions.
I'm surprised you do the cyclone kick with a simple vertical jump! I always jumped forward and then do a cyclone kick. The chance of hitting bad guys increases much more. Especially at the illusionist end boss. Love your description tho! 'He fights like a fairy' ! LOL !! cracked me up! Haha!
thedesignhighschool along with bee 52 intro theme, megaman 2 intro and willy castle 2 theme, whole kirby adventure soundtrack, batman games soundtracks, toxic crusaders soundtrack, all contra soundtracks (esp. contra force level 2) etc.
Sim , compreendo , a musica é mais impressionante por causa de seu extensa variedade de melodias , ao invés de ocorrer um looping imediato como acontece por limitação do console , ela continua . A melhor parte : 4:50
0:55. It's a good thing these ninjas aren't in the actual arcade game.. They'd be impossible to beat. I thought there were only two of them on this level.
when i played this masterpiece my favourite sequence to finalize the boss was to give him two back kicks and the final tornado kick when he was stunt.....
Two questions that always hounded me since childhood… During the 1st half of the final battle, who is that demon like character in the background watching you in the background? And whose eyes are those?
I hated the ending. No name and no backstory given to the "Mysterious Warrior". It would not surprise me if there was more information on him but it was cut from the final product due to constraints. "The mastermind behind Marian's death. His real name and origins are unknown. He uses the assassination arts of the shadow called Gen-Satsu-Ken, which is the appositive of Billy and Jimmy's martial art, Sou-Setsu-Ken. He is also a master illusionist and has the ability to become invisible at will."
Our favorite part of Double Dragon II for the NES was fighting our clones and the Shadow King. Cool thing is I still have an NES that I bought from my friend J that I worked with at Toys 'R' Us and still have this game! :)
Man I don't know about y'all but it was something about the final Boss music that made me want to beat the living shit outta him and I'll be honest I was a bit disappointed that he was so easy to beat. I used to toy with him and make it look like a good fight. But that ending music as he's dying was something I will never forget.
billy's best move was that flying knee, was hard to pull off tho but doable with practise. used to send this spinning jackass flying across the screen with it. good ol nostalgia.
on 2:05 the shadow thing may look like marian but its actually the final boss known as the mysterious warrior because from the image, billy and marian are at least 100 feet away from each other before billy could reach her because billy thought she was alive and thought it was her.
I mastered this game to the point I could beat it in one sitting every single time. The hurricane kick is NOT the best weapon. The rising Knee is so powerful it kills anyone in less than 4 hits.
I hate how theres no continues. I was able to kick ass as a kid. Now I get stuck on I think its stage 7. The jump should have been one button, it seems so awkward otherwise.
@commodore64fan Then you know about the NES being able to restart the video game industry after it crashed back in the 1980's. And sounds like someone's mad!
@mrzack888 It's not impossible to beat, but it is impossible to get through it without dying. The best I ever did was make it to those damn ninjas at the end of Stage 8.
@ejr23 This boss is awesome Nova. What are you talking about? Maybe he does have fairy ways, but that's because he's the fairy king..Lmao..Bad ass game though.
nice job by beating the game; however. those crazy ninjas that u fight right before the shadow of yourself, just throw hurricane kicks. and the surpreme master, dude just throw knees, when u get to the second form it only takes 4 knees. you definatly did it the hard way.
I had the nes turbo joystick. Very easy to to the super knee if u hold the turbos down. But i still owned this game using only the jumping spin kick. No game genie :-)
That ending theme alone was a reward for making it so far.. and it definitely boosted the player to kick some ass. Legendary theme on a legendary game!

One of the best soundtracks a NES game ever had
Mission 4 under sea base best sound track in the game
This tune I really love so much. That after 15 years I still found it. ❤❤. This was my favourite part .
I loved this game and if you couldn't master the hyper knee, you weren't very good at this.
+fireicephoenix97 Or the uppercut.
Just press punch when you are recovering from a jump to uppercut and kick for the hyper knee.
Facts lol
Fax
That hyper knee was pretty much the de facto move after coming down from the spin kick, or if you get knocked down by an enemy
I always liked the music during the second half of the final boss fight. Gave me that feeling of "Yeah, lets kick his ass!"
U dead ?
Amigo,yo la misma sensacion!!!,la 2da.parte es unica!!!
The rising knee kick is the most powerful attack. Use that a couple times and EVERYONE goes down.
They’re both crying in the last scene. Real feeling in that image
I used to sweat so much playing this game. When I finally beat it I went to school and told my friends about the final ending during lunch time. Biggest worry back then was double dragon games and if my mom put shark bites in my lunch lol.
Lol😂😂 cool memory

That’s awesome. I was able to legitimately beat it as an adult but I needed game genie when I was a kid lol. Game is timeless.
That’s awesome! I’m about to be a dad to a boy in about 3 months. When he gets old enough I hope to be able to share similar memories 🥲
flying knee and helicopter kick combo for the win
That *music* tho!!! The way it just starts off. Lets you know, an ass kicking is about to occur! 🤣 💯
2:13 Lol so you tried to uppercut your girlfriend Marian
i have a 360 and a ps3, and double dragon of nintendo 8 bits rlz
best game ever...
When I was around 10 or so when this came out, I felt like I really accomplished something when solving the game
👍🏾
You finished this game at 10 years old ??
I finished this around 10 too.
Beat it enough times to where I always knew where the final boss was when he was invisible.
Finish the game around 10 too! and that music omg...will always remember it
Thanks for uploading this,
Brings back my childhood!
Miss my childhood & I'm still playing this game until now😍😍
I absolutely love this game. Timeless treasure.
Este fue el primer juego de nintendo que lo pase todo y es un gran juego que me costo llegar lejos y derrotar al último jefe, un juegazo con un final feliz.
Los finales felices existen, solo en Cristo, bendiciones!
I love the description of the video, such a relic from a different (and better) era 🙏
Fucking laughing like fuck at the description a cancellable offence these days!
Oh!!! I forgot about that final music! It gets you so pumped!
6:09 me dan ganas de llorar :'v
I always thought the slow blinking eyes in the Haunted Mansion Level were supposed to be a reference to the still eyes that appear in the illusion part of the final boss fight.
I love that fight against the shadow clone guy. That's my favorite part of the whole game.

Not Technos Japan?
All you guys calling him a bad player....
I don't see YOU uploading any videos.....
Can it okay? This boss is NOT easy.
this whole game is easy. if you want to play a hard beat em up try ninja gaiden or battletoads
+Adam McMahan Those games are sadistic.

So now I guess we know where Ken and Ryu's Haduken and Spining kick came from!

That powered-up and victory theme! Love it!! Downloaded it!
Probably the best theme among the three DD series of Famicom/NES!
0:55. It's a good thing these ninjas aren't in the actual arcade game.. They'd be impossible to beat. I thought there were only two of them on this level.
I like how they made this game to where you had to beat it on the hardest difficulty to actually beat the game. Wish games still did that.
James and Mike missed out on an awesome ending
Yeah! They sould have played supreme master.
who
Best double dragon game hands down. Best replay value
0:38 The spin kick sound effect fits in perfectly with the song
6:00 was fuckin awesome i got his ass with a knee like that and each time that slow mo starts its just a great feeling
Avgn brought me here.

The NES was the shit when I was growing up. Loved Double Dragon, Mike Tyson`s Punchout, Mario Bros etc.

Insightful thank you
Finishing off that final boss in slow motion makes me want to imitate Street Fighter Alpha 3's announcer. "KO!"
Shit sure goes downhill fast if you miss a spinning jump kick on the 2 ninjas.
In Double Dragon Advanced, the Shadow Warrior is the 2nd last boss and Willy is the final boss.
1:12 What a Zelda reference, that purple guy Its like Dark Link, and the main character is normal Link.
Ngl this goes hard.

Siempre me conmueve el final
One of The Top20 Nes Games
@ivbame
THat finishing move followed by the guy's death light made for a better ending than him hooking up with Marian.
Those 2 pirate ninjas were sooo bad ass.
And now Marian is wrecking her own shit in RCG2.
I dare anyone here to use the standing knee uppercut combo on this guy, not the flying knee, but the standing knee. It's quite challenging.
Those ninjas were such a nuisance.
greatest video description ever
I play this in 1 player but as soon as im dont beating my twin, the game finishes why cant i fight the queer boss??
+Martin Castillo Gotta beat it on "Master" level.
Man I don't know about y'all but it was something about the final Boss music that made me want to beat the living shit outta him and I'll be honest I was a bit disappointed that he was so easy to beat. I used to toy with him and make it look like a good fight. But that ending music as he's dying was something I will never forget.
easy? bro started with 3x lives facing the ninjas which probably means he game genied and still almost lost
Those shadow ninjas are as tough as Ranzou.

Is there a soundboard for double dragon two?? Cause a i know i would Pay for these sounds!!! Especially THE POWER KNEE
Did why did this guy and his henchmen torment the Lee brothers in the first place?
Ahh, nice times... when saving the girl wasn't considered sexist, just cool
This is the best game for the history!!!
I mastered this game to the point I could beat it in one sitting every single time.
The hurricane kick is NOT the best weapon.
The rising Knee is so powerful it kills anyone in less than 4 hits.
Why didn't you use the knee attack
Damn I felt every kick and punch
Shadow Master, right! Thanks, MDthorton...I said Shadow King by mistake (I think that's a comic book character).
I love this game. They should have a remake on Wii. That would surely bring the ratings up.
This is the best soundtrack ever ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
My brother and I played Double Dragon all the time on the arcade version. This was before the Lee Bros., it was Spike and Hammer.
Jimmy Lee wears a red outfit and a blue undershirt
Billy Lee wears a blue uniform and a red undershirt
4:06 Roar of the Double Dragon
I always hated those demon eyes at the beginning of the final bout against the shadow master.
I always wanted to know whose eyes they belonged to, & that demon like being above them for a long time. And admittedly, I wish I had eyes like that.
Why did Jak kidnap Marian anyways?
wtf 1:14 I didn't know the lee brothers knew the hadouken!
The devil wears a thong!
I just noticed! 😂
ok correct me if I'm wrong did jimmy just shot a hadoken at billy
