Disappointed. I had hoped they wouldn't follow Dexcom's path of mandatory signup, no DOA warranty, and intrusive data collection. To top it off - NO ANDROOID. I can only assume it's a Play Store issue. Maybe Google is insisting on even more data collection .
Excited! Please start making test videos like that other guy, but start with different cooking methods, air fryer etc. Espiecially can you try french fries that are first soaked in cold bath, then air fryed, compared to normal ones.
I am disappointed that Lingo won't send any info to Apple Health, but I am equally disappointed with stelo as it is constantly 15-30 mg/dl off from my glucose meter
This is great data sir. My current insurance will no longer cover CGMs unless you are insulin dependent, which I'm not. Abbot does get the costs down, but this is a great option as well. Your channel has been a wealth of data and has helped me so much. Thank you!
Great review - I have used Lingo for 10 weeks and I think your review is spot on. Would love a Stelo vs. Lingo comparison video. I am happy with Lingo though, and would re-purchase it.
Pre-diabetic here. Yes I vote for comparing Stelo & Lingo. I just subscribed to Stelo to take advantage of their discount. However, i like the affordability of the Lingo.
I'm Type 2. I used Stello for a month and found it to be wildly inaccurate. It was always 30 to 40 mg/dl higher than my finger sticks. I'm in my second month with Lingo and it's been pretty much right on the money. It even matched up exactly with lab work I had last week. The sensor is much thinner than Stello. The Stello requires an over patch and that got nasty looking over time. With Lingo, no over patch is necessary. My only issues are with the app. Cutting off the measurements at 200 mg/dl is puzzling and annoying. My other complaint is the inability to download the data to a computer. I can't imagine that they won't release an Android version in the future, though that doesn't affect me as an iPhone user. Overall, I'm very happy using the Lingo. The insight that you get from using a CGM is eye opening. My breakfast of two chaffles (low carb waffles) with two poached eggs, smoked salmon, and sour cream barely raise my glucose. One slice of pizza will raise it by over 100 points.
Glad to hear that this system is both accurate and keeps data over time. I’ve tried the Stelo and didn’t find it very accurate and one could not view long term data. After the holidays, I will likely give Lingo a try.
I get your concerns about the data collection. May be using it for correlation research, but agree that you would be giving away a lot of valuable marketing data with no guarantees about how it gets used. And companies can be bought out. Like the DNA data. Have learned so much from your information. I am the target consumer as a type 2 who is losing insurance coverage for my CGM because I no longer need insulin. And that is due to the life style changes made possible by the information from the sensors and youtubers like you and Diabetes Strong. The healthcare system really does not give diabetics the hand holding you need, especially at the beginning. Nerdiness is an asset. Thanks for your good work.
Thanks for the review. It was really helpful for me. I am type 2 that controls my blood sugar with my diet and life style. I use a cgm off and on to see how my diet is working out. When I heard about the lingo I was hoping that it would be simple and not as expensive as the prescription based cgm's. And while I like the price I am not thrilled at all with the app. What I want is the simple data to see what different foods and activities do to my bg. I really do not need a nanny, or want a digital coach. My first cgm was a libra 14 day which did exactly what I wanted. If I could still get it at a reasonable cost i would stick to that but I was told by the pharmacist that they thought it was being discontinued and it was no longer available in this area. I tried the libra 2 which I did not like as well but was still workable for me. But the cost was twice what the new over the counter units are reported to be.
The reason for higher uk price is 20% VAT. If it were a medical device being used for medical purposes (ie you are diabetic), it would be vat exempt. I don't pay vat on my freestyles Libre 2's
What an interesting review! I knew nothing about lingo at all. I think the short range of glucose measure, like highest is 200, is a significant shortcoming. The size is a hindrance to me, but I understand the reason you gave. I am not thinking this new device would benefit. I had an issue a few nights ago by taking a huge overdose of Lyumjev. Using the libre 3 app was fundamental to gaining control of fast dropping glucose. Good to hear your thorough review. Hope you are well! Regards, John
I have been using Stelo and I have inserted my 5 sensor. I really like this sensor. It would be very helpful to see a comparison of Lingo and Stelo. Thanks for your review.
This is a very helpful video. I have Postprandial Hypoglycemia and many people with Postprandial , Post Weight Loss Surgery & other Per GI Surgeries or Fasting Hypoglycemia who cannot got approved for CGMs because they are not T1D are now considering these new OTC CGMs for themselves. The fact that this does not read below 55/3.08 is very dangerous for any Hypoglycemic person. I do like some of the updated capabilities of the app that you did too. They would be very helpful with your Libre 3 Plus. I just really want people who are Non Diabetic Hypoglycemics to understand the dangers of these OTC CGMS and their limitations. They could lead to very serious Hypos, especially for those of us who are Hypoglycemic Unaware and insurance still won’t cover CGMs for them. Thank you so much for this video. And YES! I’m extremely interested in a Side By Side Comparison of the Lingo & Stelo!
I think it's a good alternative for those that don't have insurance or their insurance won't cover a cgm. Anything is better than nothing, right? They do need to make it so those with Android phones can use it. Thanks for the review.
Would like a review between this and Stelo. I had two Stelo sensors which were great. The third was always reading high. I got a free replacement from the web site.. price is about the same.
Libra 14 day I had given up having blood test and compared to my Libra 14 I've had readings past 100 deferent and that's dangerous and after several problems with reading give it up. Dextrin seems more accurate and the reading has advantages keeping information and it reads as often as desired. I'm expecting much improvement when I go back to my Dr. Really was having big trouble just a few months ago back when I was getting the bad reading and it told me to eat when I definitely didn't need to eat cause of the extra high sugars reading.
These as well as all other cgm's are waterproof. Water does not hurt them. Can swim all that you want. The only thing is, you may lose connection with your phone if you are too far from it but it will reconnect when you are done swimming and back in range of your phone which is about 20 feet depending on which cgm you use.
Regarding the 60 Lingo that you referred to. Iis that a range of 60 mg/dl for your high to low spikes? OR is 60 your target mg/dl count??? Sorry, I was a little confused.
No. The lingo count of 60 does not equal 60 mg/dl. I tried to explain that in the video but probably didn't do a good job. The lingo count increses as your glucose spikes and/or stays elevated but it is not clear how exactly the lingo count is determined.
I get Libre2 free on the NHS, I'm Diabetic and was overweight so got prescribed it, this new app and sensor look the same, just different app skin and i think as its made by the same company, it wont be long before libre gets this too.
Is this the same as Freestyle Libre 3? This app is way better than Freestyle though! I’m paying a little over $50 USD per sensor after insurance, so I think Lingo would be too expensive for me. I’d love to have that app for Libre 3!
Please do a Stelo/Lingo comparison. I prefer the Stelo sensor but I think its software is poor - a quick mod of diabetes software that does not allow a good view of the smaller range of glucose levels nondiabetics and people with prediabetes have
i use the freestyle 3 and i hate the app. its clunky and it doesnt alert me when my blood sugar is low, and it doesnt alert anyone in my system in case im dying in the middle of the night. hopefully they fix some things
As a diabetci type-1 for 40+ years, using the FS3 now, but going to the FS2-plus (yeah because of the combi with the Omnipod5), I watvhed this video and had the question: for whom is this sensor? Het in The Netherlands it's not for sale (I would not even consifer it), but the question is 'why?'. Why is Abbott making this? Better that they put their effort in better ap for the FS2 and 3 than making a fancy app for the Lingo sensor. I'm dissapointed, because this is not helping any diabetic person, it's designed for making profit. (That is not bad, but not like this). But, on the other hand, maybe, well a little maybe... this will find it;'s way to the FS range of sensors. I mean: a better app, better information etc.
I'm using Stelo because my insurance won't pay for a CGM. It drives me crazy because the readings are off by 20-30 points from my blood sugar. I'd love to buy Lingo because it seems more accurate, and the app looks much slicker. But I'd have to buy an iPhone, and I refuse to do that. I'm hoping that Abbott will hear us Android users screaming loudly.
While i do like your videos, the readers are usually skipped over or ignored and you just focus on the app. This is problematic because i mostly use the reader, and im probably not the only one.
Let me know what you think about Lingo. Are you excited or disappointed?
Looks and seems great. Have you thought about reviewing the Libre Rio Sensor?
Disappointed. I had hoped they wouldn't follow Dexcom's path of mandatory signup, no DOA warranty, and intrusive data collection. To top it off - NO ANDROOID. I can only assume it's a Play Store issue. Maybe Google is insisting on even more data collection .
Non-diabetic here. Have been using Lingo for 3 months and love it.
Excited! Please start making test videos like that other guy, but start with different cooking methods, air fryer etc. Espiecially can you try french fries that are first soaked in cold bath, then air fryed, compared to normal ones.

You’re most welcome!

I would love to see a Stelo vs Lingo comparison!
This is great information Tom. My insurance dropped CGM coverage without insulin dependance, this could be decent. Thanks again.
You’re welcome! Good luck!

Thank you so much for your kind words my friend! Wishing you all the best!
Great information as usual please make a head to head comparison between the Lingo and the Stelo
Excellent work as always ! Stay safe.

Velmi pěkné a zajímavé video synku :)
Yes. I would love to see stelo vs lingo comparison for fitness users
Hopefully this arrives in Australia soon. Both options here are very expensive for Type 2 diabetics.
I appreciate and trust your equipment reviews
Thank you
Does lingo have a scanning unit, or do you just use a smart phone for readings? Oh, and if you do use your phone, does it work with all smart phones?
No scanning unit. Only phone. Currently only iPhone is supported.
Wow, that`s huge! I prefer Libre 3 i think
The Lingo count is the area under the curve (AUC). It has a curvature detection that starts and stops the Lingo count.
excellent Tom !!! ... has there been or ever will be a sensor that computes A1C ??
What’s the point of that? A1c is a chronic marker, why would a real time sensor measure a long term outcome?
The Dexcom G7 has a GMI percentage that gives and "estimated" A1C starting at 14 days. The 90 day GMI reading was the same as my last 90 lab result.
Libre 3 also has gmi

I switched from Abbott to Dexcom and it has been the best choice. Now more sensor stress.
I think it's a good alternative for those that don't have insurance or their insurance won't cover a cgm. Anything is better than nothing, right? They do need to make it so those with Android phones can use it. Thanks for the review.
Agreed! Thanks for watching!

Hi Tom. Thanks for awesome channel. In that the Lingo sensor is so similar to Libre, does the Lingo App work on Libre??
Great vid thank you. Not available on Android? 😮 Please do head to head with Stelo. Thank you!
Is it possible to get it from outside US.
Have you had a demo of Stelo?
Yes compare the two. Also how can we let Abbott know they need to make usable by Android. What are the top 3 features vs libre 3 other than price?
I would like to see sensor witch have led light to indicate what glucose level is at moment, like red -too low, green - ok, yellow - too high :D
So if you are a type one, is this better than a freestyle Libre do the presentation of more information on top of being cheaper???
I still don’t understand how I can swim regularly with one of these. Do you have any suggestions? I swim 1 hour 3x a week
These as well as all other cgm's are waterproof. Water does not hurt them. Can swim all that you want. The only thing is, you may lose connection with your phone if you are too far from it but it will reconnect when you are done swimming and back in range of your phone which is about 20 feet depending on which cgm you use.
What exactly is your concern? Is it peeling off? Have you tried using an overpatch?
One simple question, the lingo app will share information with Apple Health? so we can have all our info on a single application?
Yes you can connect those two
@ finally!

How does Lingo compare with KetoMojo?
Is lingo covered by Health/Medical Insurances ??
I get Libre2 free on the NHS, I'm Diabetic and was overweight so got prescribed it, this new app and sensor look the same, just different app skin and i think as its made by the same company, it wont be long before libre gets this too.
What type of connection does it have? Bluetooth or NFC?
Have you tried the carnivore diet? It would be cool to see a flat glucose graph and no spikes
Is this the same as Freestyle Libre 3? This app is way better than Freestyle though!
I’m paying a little over $50 USD per sensor after insurance, so I think Lingo would be too expensive for me. I’d love to have that app for Libre 3!

libre 3 can be bought ro $31 with ralphs pharmacy membership lingo is more expensive.
sadly, it is not available in my country yet....
Sorry about that!
Is there a connection to apple health app like in the G7 app? Looks like the one from supersapiens
Yes. You can integrate with Apple health.

Can I get it in India?
What is price in Indian rupee?
Jes
Yes!
👍🏿
They all just fall.off, sit on the sofa, suddenly they stick in the back and so on..
It would have been more honest for you to "start by saying" this product. I am about to review only works on Apple phones
🍓🍓🍓
Say no to Stelo . In case you come across one...
While i do like your videos, the readers are usually skipped over or ignored and you just focus on the app. This is problematic because i mostly use the reader, and im probably not the only one.
Anything is better than Freestyle Libre.
Why? The libre 2 can monitor 24/7 now after the update. Gamechanger imo.
