Later on, when Kanjuro was gone, Kinemon updated the number to 4200. Yet, a bit later we see Orochi talking about how his enemy has gathered 4000 men, showing that his information was outdated and he only knew what Kanjuro knew.
A very important hint is given when the SHs climb the elephant (zou) kanjuro drew a pink dragon(ryunosuke) to climb up (a whole episode was dedicated to that lmao) after going further in the story you'd realize no true Vassal of Kozuki Oden would ever draw a dragon that's how much they hate the creature. Kinemon sliced up a dragon in Punk Hazard not only for survival but hatred as well. He also expresses his disappointment when Kanjuro drew a dragon of all things to top it off it was pink in colour as if to mock Momonosuke.

when they went to the bathhouse in wano, kanjuro specifically asked robin what she learned from orochi, and she basically said all she knew (which was a lot.). Kanjuro was very shocked. Also he never said what he learned to the others. Afterwards a few minutes later hawkins shows up to get the straw hats. Hawkins somehow knew the straw hats would be there and its because of kanjuro. He was told the meeting would be in the bathhouse by the straw hats and decided to let hawkins know.
It wouldn’t be weird if they sent regular Oniwabanshu or samurai to check the ankle tattoos, but the fact they sent Hawkins and Drake to do it, so they can easily recognise Nami and Robin is immediately suspicious.
During the “Raizo-dono is safe!!” reveal, Kanjuro is the only one clenching his fist. When you look at all the characters in the scene and their hands arent clenched at all, it was almost like it was deliberate hmmmm
You missed the biggest clue lol, his character design is literally that of a Kabuki ACTOR. He was acting out a character that is part of and supporting the Kozuki family and concealed his real identity, just like an actor's job. Such a big one.

The fact that Kinnemon says Kanjuro's drawn food always gives him stomach aches, and Kanjuro's first move seeing Kinnemon saving him in a tense situation was to offer him said drawn food.
The number of times he sabotaged their team “by accident” He led Dressrosa pursuers to the king’s plateau with a “although unstable” ladder to the top. He blinded Kinemon on the climb on to Zou and caused him to fall all the way down and “almost” knocked off the rest had they not dodged.

Another cool foreshadowing When Oden was traveling across Wano, he was (unknowingly) recruiting the members of the Akazaya Nine. And their actions when they first meet Oden are interesting: -Kin'emon and Denjiro tagged along because they admired Oden -Izo and Kiku joined because they were hungry lol -Kawamatsu, Dogstorm, and Cat Viper joined because Oden had saved them from the humans on Kuri Beach -Raizo joined because he wanted to better himself through Oden and leave his dark past behind him -Ashura joined because he had honorably lost a duel to Oden. Ashura never sought out to fight Oden, he had just waited for Oden to come onto his turf and tried to protect it. The thing is Kanjuro is the ONLY member to have acted out of pure malice the first time meeting Oden, saying that he thought "they were dead bodies" trying to collect their hair by trying to kill them.
A while ago when it was first hinted that there was a traitor on the comments of crunchyroll a "manga reader " spoiled that Raizou was the traitor, i was so pissed and every time they mentioned a traitor i got salty at Raizou and the op of the comment. @@seongthongchuah8356 nobody actually believed it, but in one of the volume updates (like, when Oda has some things fixed for the VOlume released. I knew early on the rat was Kanjuro considering he was the only scabbard without a backstory and the Beast pirates knew Raizo was the only scabbard on Zou.
Kanjuro was also at the right places conveniently at the right time: -He was there to hear Yasuie say that he will join the resistance. (Along with straw hats and shinobu) , moments later Yasuie is found out, captured and sentenced to death. -… not only that but during that scene where Law was arguing with Shinobu, Kanjuro stops the debate , Law says he will release his crew himself. Then when he does , Hawkins is there saying “I knew you’d be here” - ALSO , he was in the hot springs with straw hats and shinobu. Suddenly Hawkins and Drake appear to capture them. They all fly away and escape , except Kanjuro, we kind of forgot he was even there tbh, but he survived somehow I guess. -

Kanjuro already tried killing Oden during their first meeting, before being recruited. Joining Oden is probably Kanjuro's Plan B when his ambush will fail.
During the episode when Oden fought Kiado, kanjuro wasnt shown in any scene until the fight was over, but everyone else was. He was only shown first in that whole episode in the prison cell supposedly "injured" when everyone was captured.

Kanjuro was probably is the most worthless and repulsive character in one peice. Despite all the things Kozuki Oden had done for him, despite all the sacrifices he had made for his retainers and for him he still couldn't rise above his hate. He just couldn't get over the whole "I was persecuted" thing. His selfishness and hate destroyed an entire country and killed thousands of people.

What had those innocent children and families got to do with his persecution? Go watch the show again property. Orochi had mentioned that a specific group in Wano had hunted Koruzumis. But he and his fake stooge felt that an entire country had to rot in hell for decades, normal people had to be turned into slaves, children had to suffer from hunger and disease just for their satisfaction. I don't know why so many people feel that anything and everything is fair as long as there an "I was persecuted " excuse. Blind revenge achieves nothing. Had Kozuki Oden asked Kanjuro's family name when he allowed Kanjuro to follow him? Had Yasuie asked his family name before giving him education, training and money which made him who he was? Him and Orochi are anarchists. They at least had a personal reason for what they did. Kaido didn’t. He just subjugated a country for his own convenience It’s like Arlong. Arlong could’ve been enslaved, and he had every right to hate humans as they treated him like dirt. Just look at all the racist stuff the SHs said to him. Should he have terrorized a few villages in the EB? Probably not. But also, mans was kinda right to inflict that same punishment back. We punish murderers with the death sentence
In the scene where Orochi talks to the spy after killing the murderers of his parents, there is a devil fruit before him, so it has eliminated every akaza but Kin'emon and Kanjuro. Then either Kin'emon got the Oscar for best acting ever since his first meeting with Oden, or it was Kanjuro, met as a "hair-thief" in the middle of nowhere
2:55 About the Bounty segment, IIRC (it has been a while since I last watched the Dressrosa arc), Kanjuro's lack of bounty is more due to him not engaging against Doflamingo's forces throughout the arc, which would tie it more closely with the Productivity aspect (3:25). Doflamingo's reason for the bounties was "against those who have angered me today."
Ok but the thumbnail and title means that innocent one piece fans not up to this bit yet are going to be absolutely blasted, especially if it hits the algorithm.
If you aren't up to date on a anime/manga and start watching videos about it you have to expect to have some stuff spoiled. As long as youtubers keep manga spoilers out of thumbnail/title for anime only watchers they are completely fine imho
@@MonkBreath believe it or not, not every one piece fan is up to date with the anime. In fact, being up to the late 900s may even be the exception. All of those people scrolling through are going to be spoiled for what was meant to be a plot twist reveal.
thank you so much for this video I thought there were no signs of his betrail except for that Jack knew about Zou but that could be anyone of the samurai but you made it very clear that Oda was foreshadowing it since dressrosa
watching this video I just realized that there was a considerable time put into this character. Especially the left hand right hand drawing difference made me realize how much depth this char has.
The very fact we knew about him should have been the first clue. Doflamingo turns his prisoners into toys causing everyone of to forget their existence. He should have done that to Kanjuro and take him out of the picture as well as get labour. If Kanjuro was not the traitor, that would have been his first cause of action.
His very own look is foreshadowing itself xD Like, you guys know the Japanese theater where actors put heavy make ups for the show? That's what he looks like to me now :>
i mean between all the akazaya members Kanjiro was the only one following Oden for a dump reason the others followed because they admired him but he followed because he wanted to make a brush from Oden's hair! really!?
What's most shocking to me watching this video is the fact that this episode was 2 years ago. I remember when I caught up to one piece and this was literally a new episode for me. Time flies so fast.
When i found out he was the traitor, i was just lowkey kinda glad my suspicions were correct. I thought it was a bit sus during the Dressrosa arc when they were on the plateau thingy. Kanjuro kept saying that because he was such a failure or something, he should commit seppuku. my intuition told me it had a weird vibe to it
I always find Kanjuro calm demeanor despite losing contact with his fellow comrades is off back in Dressrosa but I just brush it off and just accept that it is just his personality. But the most telling sign is that he always try to sabotage them getting to Zou
Heh, "brush" it off. Yea, him just sitting there without any willingness to escape on his own with his ability was a flag, especially when he's not wearing seastone cuffs.
i got one, after that time when Luffy and the others depart to WCI, Inuarashi said something like 'you can't go to Zou without a vivre card' or something like that
His drawing of the wall and bars in the coliseum jail was way better that his usually art. no one knew he was there. Which surprised me when kin didn’t say anything about it.
In Dresdarosa, Kanjuro made ladders for the group to climb up the mountain. However, moments later, the citizens trying to catch them started climbing the same ladder. He could have disolved the drawing way before the citizens started to climb, but conveniently forgot too. There was also the moment where Kanjuro blinded Kinemon when the monkey fell from Zou, causing them both to fall off the dragon they were riding. This could have ended very badly for Kinemon who we know is a fruit user. Looking back, it easily could have been an assasination attempt. We don't know exactly what happened after they fell, but both the sunny and Bart's ship were down there, so it could have been that they rescued them as they fell, causing the assasination on Kinemon to fail.
I remember while re watching one Piece when they met up with Ninja (forgot his name) and were discussing how Momo is their Lord Kanjuro looks away sorta like in a “he’s not my lord…” it was really interesting to see that in the animation and there’s some other times he seems shady but that could just be because I know he’s a traitor now
Watching this and reading the comments make my heart sink. I just know how disappointed Oden would be or perhaps he'll actually still forgive Kanjuro because how tender his heart is. I respect Oden and the samurais and seeing them betrayed is really heart wrenching.
A more subtle one: When they were climbing into Zou, and the monkey guardian fell abobe them, he covered Kinemon's eyes so that he was unable to avoid him. There were some others, but can't remember right now. Thanks for the video!
Everyone out here guessing the spy while I completely forgot abt that just until Kanjuro showed himself up… I’m really amazed and traumatized how he betrayed them from the beg, and after all that they’ve been through. He is a pure villain and have to say a perfect spy, with no remorse whatsoever up till his death.
I got chills from those birds. I remember like last year people were as usual drawing assumptions/theories out of Oda’s cover pages and those birds were one of those. I forgot what they were making out of it but I’m very positive no one would’ve thought they were spies Kanjuro was using to leak info with. I’m lost between holding a grudge against Kanjuro and being astonished by Oda. I can’t believe what the minks, Zunesha, Inu, and Neko had to go through just because of this one mdfkng traitor. 😭
From what I remember. Orochimaru kept Kanjuro's identity pretty close to the chest. Even Kaido didn't know about him until close to the raid. I suspect that Doflamingo might have been told by Orochimaru or figured it out himself that Kanjuro was not to be harmed, but I'm not sure if Doflamingo ever knew the extent of Kanjuro's loyalty to Orochimaru
I don't think orochi would tell him but I could believe the opposite (kanjuro telling him + with specific info that he may could not have known otherwise)
even in the opening 22 , it shows all the akazaya looking forward except denjiro and kanjuro looking the opposite side behind , which shows that both were traitors , just one traitor to orochi and the other one traitor to oden and akazaya
dang a foreshadowing that i just realize(and i never saw someone said it) is, when orochi told kaido about the traitor, orochi said that the traitor come from a theater group that was executed, and in japan, theres a theater art called "Kabuki" where all the artist use a white makeup on their whole face while they are acting on stage, from here you can connect the dot right, but oda only show this foreshadow only 1 or 2 chapter before they reveal that Kanjuro is a traitor (1 episode in anime), so that was a big hint especially for people who know about kabuki!!!
I got one! When the crew was trying to climb Zou, Everyone made it up fine, but the only ones who were not able to climb to top right away were Kinemon and Kanjuro.... This could be because Kanjuro didn't want Kin to reunite with the Minks and Raizo.
one of the most important pieces is when he, kin and momo fell from the pink dragon in zou because he wanted to delay kin and momo so the minks at zou could see the SH as enemies and had a chance that they could kill each other
Supposing Oden had figured out that Kanjuro was a Kurozumi, he couldn’t have known Kanjuro’s true purpose. Just being a Kurozumi doesn’t make you a bad person.
That's why it is weird for a person who has "Draw-draw Devil fruit"(idk the correct name) who can't draw. I always thought that devil fruit always fall into right person who can use its power to the fullest but to have someone who eats a devil fruit about "drawing" but cannot draw well is very weird.
When they were named akazaya nine but when the flashback started they were originally 10, also his face and outfit has similarities with artists from kabuki and noh drama having white and heavy makeup while dressing up like someone who they've wanted to imitate. Now, that the outfit is done, Oda finally realizes what weapon kanjuro should bring, a brush. Which we thought as PAINT-BRUSH from the start, but it was really meant to be a MAKEUP-BRUSH to support kanjuro's character as an ancient japanese entertainer.
Thank you for this!! Gotta say at first I wasn't so keen on this plot twist, seemed a lil too forced especially in One Piece where things are commonly foreshadowed hundreds of episodes before. Glad to see once again Oda hinted it all along, I was just too naive to see lol
In the pre skip fight between Kaido v Oden + Akazaya 9, at least in the anime, we see a scene of everyone fighting and defeating Kaido's subordinates except for Kanjuro. As if he wasn't fighting anyone at all
There was one more detail in which oda foreshadowed that he is the traitor by showing his evil smile when all akazaya members were going to onigashima through a small boat. Don't know if anybody noticed that. 🤔
I am on wano right now, and I predicted the traitor in oden’s flashback where the akazaya nine are fighting kaido’s army, kanjiro is the only one who we don’t see cut any of them! We see him fighting but the screen flashes and we don’t really see him harm kaido’s army.
I got spoiled heavy for this by Crunchyroll of all people. I was around Zou at the time so I looked for hints but the only real foreshadowing I caught was the birds being went to Orochi. Kanjuro asking Robin for information should have been an obvious one but I guess I was too distracted by Robin. As we all are.
In one of the anime openings, he can be seen on the left side of the screen facing the right. Typically good guys are on the right and face left. I remember noticing it and thinking it was strange but assumed nothing of it. How does Oda always make me let my guard down.
I had a coworker/friend who watches OP. I don't like to spoil, but one day he asked me who the traitor was at the end of our shift. After asking if he really wanted to know, he sounded uncertain at first but then said yes bro please tell me. I told him it was Okiku then left for the day LMAOOOO, there's nothing better than giving a FALSE spoiler. It made the moment that much more of a shock.
I'm rewatching right now and I've been looking out for these. I also noticed in Dressrosa when he draws the fake Usopp for the bagworm shot, he does it not really understanding why Usopp wants it, then seems calm while Usopp preps his shot because he doesn't think there's any way he can make it, but when Usopp succeeds he looks not just surprised by horrified that he directly contributed to taking out one of Kaido's allies.
Also, he continually delays the SH's arrival at Zou, first drawing a climbing creature instead of flying when we know he can do that. Then he covers Kin's eyes to ensure they fall. Then he draws another climbing creature, and fakes the water susceptibility (we see later that his cranes are fine in the rain). Then he suggests they wait to try again til the morning as it's getting dark (why does this matter when you're climbing a featureless leg?) Finally he makes a third climbing creature and allows them to reach the top, assuming that by this point the SH will have fallen to the gas and Sheepshead's Gifters and perhaps being aware that Jack's arrival is imminent.
2 things that I havent seen pointed out: 1: If I remember correctly, everyone of the vassals cried when meeting again with either Momo or Kinemon (can”t remember which one), expect for Kanjuro. 2: In Dressrosa, when Usopp, Viola, and King Riku were hiding from the people trying to kill them, Kanjuro made a ladder for the enemy to climb, and it was played off as a joke, but was really him trying to stop them.
@@Tehstool Usopp drew the ammunition, he just made it real. My thinking is that he probably just thought that it wouldn't really matter so he didn't think much of it and made it.
I got this twist spoiled to me early because i happened on some random wiki. Needless to say i was shocked because Konjuro and Kinemon were.2.of my favorite characters in the whole series. They 2 clueless, super proper carefree dudes that rarely get rattled by anything. I loved them. What an asshole.
I think Kanjuro covered Kinemon's eyes so that Luffy and Law will go ahead first and since the Minks hates Pirates ( because of what happened between Jack and the gang ) they'll have to kill each other on the top of Zou

Another cool foreshadowing
When Oden was traveling across Wano, he was (unknowingly) recruiting the members of the Akazaya Nine. And their actions when they first meet Oden are interesting:
-Kin'emon and Denjiro tagged along because they admired Oden
-Izo and Kiku joined because they were hungry lol
-Kawamatsu, Dogstorm, and Cat Viper joined because Oden had saved them from the humans on Kuri Beach
-Raizo joined because he wanted to better himself through Oden and leave his dark past behind him
-Ashura joined because he had honorably lost a duel to Oden.
Well it was rumored that there was someone cutting hair from people in the area so it didn't seem like he was going to kill them to Oden

thank you so much for this video I thought there were no signs of his betrail except for that Jack knew about Zou but that could be anyone of the samurai but you made it very clear that Oda was foreshadowing it since dressrosa
watching this video I just realized that there was a considerable time put into this character.
If Kanjuro was not the traitor, that would have been his first cause of action.
one about his character is oden found him stealing from dead corpse's as a child that shoulda been a huge red flag tbh
His very own look is foreshadowing itself xD Like, you guys know the Japanese theater where actors put heavy make ups for the show? That's what he looks like to me now :>
Yeah he was designed to look like a kabuki actor
i mean between all the akazaya members Kanjiro was the only one following Oden for a dump reason the others followed because they admired him but he followed because he wanted to make a brush from Oden's hair! really!?
What's most shocking to me watching this video is the fact that this episode was 2 years ago. I remember when I caught up to one piece and this was literally a new episode for me. Time flies so fast.
When i found out he was the traitor, i was just lowkey kinda glad my suspicions were correct.

One of the best in history
I always find Kanjuro calm demeanor despite losing contact with his fellow comrades is off back in Dressrosa but I just brush it off and just accept that it is just his personality. But the most telling sign is that he always try to sabotage them getting to Zou
Heh, "brush" it off.
Yea, him just sitting there without any willingness to escape on his own with his ability was a flag, especially when he's not wearing seastone cuffs.
i got one, after that time when Luffy and the others depart to WCI, Inuarashi said something like 'you can't go to Zou without a vivre card' or something like that
I never for a second believed he was such a bad artist. I wouldent have pegged any of em as the spy, but i absolutely didnt believe he drew so bad
I remember while re watching one Piece when they met up with Ninja (forgot his name) and were discussing how Momo is their Lord
Kanjuro looks away sorta like in a “he’s not my lord…” it was really interesting to see that in the animation and there’s some other times he seems shady but that could just be because I know he’s a traitor now
Watching this and reading the comments make my heart sink.
Orochimaru?😂😂😂😂
even in the opening 22 , it shows all the akazaya looking forward except denjiro and kanjuro looking the opposite side behind , which shows that both were traitors , just one traitor to orochi and the other one traitor to oden and akazaya
dang a foreshadowing that i just realize(and i never saw someone said it) is, when orochi told kaido about the traitor, orochi said that the traitor come from a theater group that was executed, and in japan, theres a theater art called "Kabuki" where all the artist use a white makeup on their whole face while they are acting on stage, from here you can connect the dot right, but oda only show this foreshadow only 1 or 2 chapter before they reveal that Kanjuro is a traitor (1 episode in anime), so that was a big hint especially for people who know about kabuki!!!

When the crew was trying to climb Zou, Everyone made it up fine, but the only ones who were not able to climb to top right away were Kinemon and Kanjuro.... This could be because Kanjuro didn't want Kin to reunite with the Minks and Raizo.
one of the most important pieces is when he, kin and momo fell from the pink dragon in zou because he wanted to delay kin and momo so the minks at zou could see the SH as enemies and had a chance that they could kill each other
great now i have to deal with RUclips spoilers
Supposing Oden had figured out that Kanjuro was a Kurozumi, he couldn’t have known Kanjuro’s true purpose. Just being a Kurozumi doesn’t make you a bad person.
I think Tama is a Kurozumi, that proves your point.
That's why it is weird for a person who has "Draw-draw Devil fruit"(idk the correct name) who can't draw. I always thought that devil fruit always fall into right person who can use its power to the fullest but to have someone who eats a devil fruit about "drawing" but cannot draw well is very weird.
The one I thought of was in Dressrosa, making a ladder for the former toys to hunt down those with bounties. Definitely suspicious
Fricking crazy that it has been 3 years
In the pre skip fight between Kaido v Oden + Akazaya 9, at least in the anime, we see a scene of everyone fighting and defeating Kaido's subordinates except for Kanjuro. As if he wasn't fighting anyone at all
I knew it was Kanjuro when they said his parents were actors, giving how he dresses like a kabuki character.
The bird giving orochi information. That's where I knew it.
In one of the anime openings, he can be seen on the left side of the screen facing the right. Typically good guys are on the right and face left. I remember noticing it and thinking it was strange but assumed nothing of it. How does Oda always make me let my guard down.
That right and left handed thing is really a nice observation. The detail in one piece really is amazing
Then he suggests they wait to try again til the morning as it's getting dark (why does this matter when you're climbing a featureless leg?) Finally he makes a third climbing creature and allows them to reach the top, assuming that by this point the SH will have fallen to the gas and Sheepshead's Gifters and perhaps being aware that Jack's arrival is imminent.

yeah I saw this thumbnail when I just got to the zou arc and it honestly ruined the twist for me when I finally caught up
it’s MUCH better than the ones that blatantly show it was Kanjuro
in dressrosa he helped the citizens hunt down the straw hats by drawing a net for them to climb on
2 things that I havent seen pointed out:
1: If I remember correctly, everyone of the vassals cried when meeting again with either Momo or Kinemon (can”t remember which one), expect for Kanjuro.
2: In Dressrosa, when Usopp, Viola, and King Riku were hiding from the people trying to kill them, Kanjuro made a ladder for the enemy to climb, and it was played off as a joke, but was really him trying to stop them.
Did he or Usopp draw the Usopp used as ammunition after that moment?
@@Tehstool Usopp drew the ammunition, he just made it real. My thinking is that he probably just thought that it wouldn't really matter so he didn't think much of it and made it.
