It was kinda unusual to see those trains still in use. Btw there are very few trains of this series left in Russia, many have already been replaced by newer ED trains.
Its the same in Bulgaria as well. All major lines that used to be servised by those ware replaced by New Simens Trains (about 10-15 years ago). Those still in sevice ware renigated to small less important regional routes. Btw the fun part is that those are quite strong and can take bad weather. I remember about 7 or 8 years ago (the last big winter in the Balkans), one the Simens trains got boged down in the snow (had to be pulled out by old deasel locomotive), while I do remember strong winters while I was kid in the 90ties and traveling with those old ones -they had no problem plowing thrue everything.
@@mowtow90 that's why Siemens actually worked hard on redesigning the Velaro (Sapsan) and Desiro (Lastochka) projects, you know. Still some of the trains had electrical issues during winter time.
