Maiden will do that to you. I also like to say that Hallowed Be Thy Name is a good gateway song for metal. It starts off slow so people who aren’t familiar with the genre won’t immediately write it off as “noise” and the pace picks up as it goes and just leads to an epic listening experience.
I wouldn't say their songs are "war bad" like Megadeth being "politics" since Maiden songs are narrated from the POV of a character usually suffering from something, in the Trooper is a soldier in its last breath, Run to the Hills a native narrates how they got slaughtered by colonialists, but then you have stuff like Hallowed Be Thy Name which is about a dude about to get executed, or Powerslave being about a pharaoh who is about to die. So honestly a good chunk of their songs are about death.
