    Good demo. From what I understand, the clean channel is set up as a pedal platform, the crunch is from the Peavey Classic and the ultra/lead channel is from the XXX crunch. The JSX is supposedly compressed a little more. I use the Amptweaker TightMetal Pro with the clean channel and it definitely gets the XXX sound plus some. It is a good amp that sounds really good with effects. Thanks for the demo!

      If i'm not mistaken, it's the Clean channel that's from the Classic 50. The Crunch and Ultra are from the XXX, with basically more gain, active EQ, and fuller mids.

      @@Totone56 I tried to find the video with Joe Satriani in a sit down interview with a Peavey engineer but it has been removed. There are a few promotional papers that also talk about a few details. In the video they state that the clean channel was something that Peavey did not have what he really wanted. So they took one of his other amps and started with that and then they tweaked it to take pedals. That is why some people call it sterile but it was made that way for a purpose. The amp is really hard to break up when using the clean channel unless you turn the channel volume up very high. He said that he really liked the crunch of the Classic series and Peavey nailed that well. That is when he talked about James Brown talking about an active and passive circuits. He also said the lead channel on the XXX was a little too compressed and he preferred the crunch channel. I found that odd having two crunch channels on an amp. They did a great job because the channels sound very different. What is really cool about those channels is that you can get very close to "bedroom volume" and still have a good distortion sound when you play around with the channel volumes and gain.

      @@Totone56 . Joe says the JSX clean is a totally new from the ground up (which it's rumored Ben Fargen did), the crunch allegedly from the Classic 50, and lead channel the XXX Ultra.

      @@Totone56 correct. There’s a lot of misinformation out there concerning the channels. The JSX is essentially a XXX with a little less gain that is titled a bit more toward high mids as opposed to low mids.

    Awesome amp! Got one myself. According to the pdf sheet, low gain input is for active pickups, hi gain is for passive pickups.

    Great Review the Jsx looks amazing .. Does the jsx reach the timbres for cover's of Metallica from the album Load Re-load and the live performances they did until 1999!?. I already have a traditional 4x12 with v30 70w MeSA boogie ..

      In my opinion, the sound of the Load-era is very specific, due to the Mesa triaxis/2:90 in the Lead2 orange mode. This combination sounds very different from all other amps I know (except maybe the Mark IV). I don't now if you can get close to this with the JSX. If not, I'd recommend to use an additional EQ in the loop, then boost the lower mids a little bit, cut some presence and maybe cut a little around the 1k...maybe tha can bring you close...sort of.

    Hi , I have asked a few people but I'll also ask you...do you hear a little noise like a slight buzz or hum when you engage the effects loop and turn up the master ?
    I can hear noise kind of similar to amp hum or buzz but it mostly kicks in on a master volume of 4 or higher. My channel volumes are usually at 4 or higher. Again the noise is when the effects loop is engaged and even if nothing is plugged into the loop I hear it. It's easy to hear on the clean channel when no hiss is masking the noise.
    Let me know if you get a chance to check it. Thank you.

    • @rokinrandy
      @rokinrandy 3 года назад

      I dont have that problem. Did you check the ground switch on the back yet. And the noise gate on this amp is made for the noise this amp can produce when cranking the volume and gain.. It's not a noise gate like this guy was expecting where it kills the hiss from pedals. just some stuff from the amp..If not then you have a tube or something causing it..It has to be isolated to figure it out.

    • @theloveofsin
      @theloveofsin 3 года назад

      @@rokinrandy yes some ground point or something with the jacks. Possibly wires need to be moved a little etc.
      I have tried all obvious solutions including tube changes and the ground switch etc etc. Thanks that confirms that it's internal I believe.

    Hello what are your settings exactly please because we do not see well on the screen the buttons on the JSX as well as the values, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.. and I do not understand too well the English, thank you for your answer 😉

      Sorry, but I can't remember these settings. I'm currently working on a new video of this amp. My favourite settings are : crunch channel, bass, mid and gain at max, treble at 7, resonance and presence at 5 and the fat switch up. With the JSX and the XXX I got the best results, wehn cranking the bass and mids...Hope this helps. Cheers!
