I am having the same problem! it worked when I made sure my nails R entirely cut. Make sure all your knuckles are bent especially the pink finger that you don't use.
I know it might sound selfish but so good to know others are struggling w G. Thought it was just me. Feels like my fingers are too big and uncoordinated. Back to practicing.
Elorabora it helps a lot to practice the changes without a strum pattern. For example play a G and F over and over again without a strum pattern so when you start the strum pattern it’ll be much easier. Good luck!!!
the problem here is that the ring finger ALWAYS gets in the way of the 1st string and so what happens is that it completely mutes the sound. i found that if you switch the middle finger and index finger position, it helps to prevent that. it might not be the proper "form" but if it works, then who really cares lol.
Hey! I just got my ukulele yesterday, actually bought two. I have a tenor and soprano. I was having trouble with the G chord, but I figured it out. When I was playing, the strings almost muted, and I was so confused and wasn't sure if I was pressing too hard, or too light. Basically, what I was doing was not pressing hard enough and touching my other fingers on the other string(s). What I did was practiced curving my fingers more when I layed them on the strings, and then I pressed very hard on the strings. This way when you press hard it makes the string shorter, which makes the sound different. Because I'm new to playing, I already have some blisters and sore fingers from playing, but after a while of practice you will get used to it and your fingers will be more calloused, so that will help you play. Hope this helps! :)
So glad I found your channel. No matter the string, G chords are the bane of my existence! This method makes me more willing to practice! Thanks so much. I've subscribed for more tutorials! The explanation here was thorough and useful. A beginner should benefit from this finger-by-finger demonstration,. I wish that I had focused on getting that proper technique when learning new chords. Here, although I already was familiar with the G chord, I was able to improve my hand position and technique for changing between chords. Playing will improve now.
I was having so much trouble with this. I am a flutist and am used to playing with the pads of my fingers to cover the holes completely. I want to be able to add some harmony with my recorder classes this year! Thanks.

The answer is both yes and no. You. Can play the G7 if the song is in the key if C (if you don’t know the key a simple Google search will give you that information) otherwise no, it has to be G. You should really really take the time to learn G, master it, but don’t worry, you will see the G7 and it wasn’t a wasted effort.
