I met zack and got a pic with him and an autograph just days before this at that seattle leg of the ozzfest hes the fuckin best man. Get Well Soon Zack brother we need ya shreddin again. BLS SDMF
Some songs on Blessed Hellride were recorded half step step down. Now its full step down, and even the blessed hellride songs are played full step down live
@zbarneyz if you take it from the way that he's actually changed the frequency to which he's tuned his E, then yes, it is an F#. it's just a different way of referring to a frequency, and technically he's right, but you're right too. It just depends whether you consider him to have changed what note his guitar is playing, or whether he has changed what frequency he is playing an E at.
Its called a pinch Harmonic its basically picking at an angle and your thumb hitting it strait after search them up. The ones you hear will probably quite high pitched though.
In this video, he is using a microstack, but he use the JCM 800 on stage and in the studio. The micro stack is just a temporary thing so he doesn't have to lug around his real amp.
@RockForce131 i've always thought that because the black or in this case the camo is at both top and bottom that means the other color is whats printed over top. but whatever opinions vary
he does a hammering lick (with hammer ons and pull offs) with the left hand and then he touches the strings with the right hand( at the same time) and creates a series of artificial harmonics, which sound (because of the pedals for example) pretty damn dirty. metal on :-)
@PV2Rucci No its not because of you look at his regular black ad white bulls eye, the black is at the very top ad the very bottom, and that is black bullseye over cream. So its camo over cream
@pmorei yeah hes a fuckin badass. definatly loves getting to do what he was born to do. and still doesnt think himself higher up then anyone else. i got an autograph from the wylde man hi,self in ozzfest 2002 at the gorge, wa i was 16 yrs old and the fng concert got rained out. but wylde came out to the crowd for 2 hrs. signed autopgtraphs and bullshited. fuckin sweet
dude the last riff at the end bout 6:57 was kick ass he changed the original with just a few harmonics and bends and it sounds awesomer but still sounded good in the first place
It is drop D, he even says it at 1:15, you can hear that it is drop D if you listen to it anyways, and if you play guitar for awhile understand the tunings and can even tune by ear
Actually, he has tuned down 3 half steps for the video. So thats C# standard. You can't play along that video if you've tuned down only 2 half steps to D standard. The song on the actuall recording is in D standard though.
ATTENTION GUITARISTS WATCHING THE VIDEO!!!! I have seen alot of comments about the what tuning this song is in. Zakk clearly shows everyone that this song is in Drop D however there are others saying its in a whole step down. Well I have played the song on both tunings and the song does sound right on both tunings however there were 2 differences I have noticed The Main Riff sounds exactly the way it is supposed to in Drop D when you play it. however the Intro sounds better in whole step down
The whole guitar is tuned down a whole step Low to high DGCFAD He didn't clarify but, he did play F#m Pentatonic and used the correct fretting which would mean the whole guitar is tuned relative to that D that he mentioned. Any beginner can pick up on that, bro. Another lesson from the same day, Zakk said that pretty much the only time he's in standard, is when he's working with the piano
It's magic. No one mere mortal can play that except his highness, the almighty, Zakk Wylde. I've been trying for years. Seriously though, all bullshit aside... It's a series of hammer ons and pulloffs picking and raking his ring across the strings. I asked my guitar teacher to show me that one. I'm still waiting for a reply, that was 10 years ago. ANYONE KNOW OF AN INSTRUCTIONAL ON THAT RIFF?
Haha he should be in his own movie. It could be about Vikings, beer, women, and burning down villages in the name of Metal (not love as U2 would have you believe)
So you can play the song either way in Drop D or in a Whole Step Down ( which is just tuning all strings down a whole step.) I can make private lesson videos for anyone that requests them.......All it takes is just a little patiance and eh........Check for 10 bucks! : ) Sincerely,The Shinedown Dog
Lol he says one of the reasons for full step down are looser strings. He tunes FULL STEP down and uses 10-60 strings. a 60 for the E string, a 52 for the A string and a 36 for the D string. thats not fucking loose in my book, thats nearly a goddamm suspension bridge wire FOR ONLY A FULL STEP DOWN
Its awesome that a rockstar would take you step by step through his songs... Zak Wilde forevever!
"... and we got beer. So were good to go."
Zakk Wylde is awesome!
Man, look at the paint on that guitar.. So much wear and tear.. My dream guitar. No doubt.
Thank you Mr Zakk Wylde, thank you so much for this there's so many songs you can write out the scale it's unbelievable and I got beer.
He super calm and friendly, seems like a really nice guy
SDMF= strength determination merciless forever

The first time I heard this was the first time I watched Spawn, pretty good combo.
Dea Hjako Really? Spawn had this song in the sound track.
Thanks for the video. I haven't seen Zakk use Gumby in a while.
Gotta love Zeeky Wieldy
sounds awesome with the rotovibe
he's the greatest guitar player ever... get better Zakk we're with you ;)
dude zakk is a big fuckin dude he is beast material no wonder why this song is badass
@FallenPrey yeah pinch harmonics are awesome!!
@zbarneyz if you take it from the way that he's actually changed the frequency to which he's tuned his E, then yes, it is an F#. it's just a different way of referring to a frequency, and technically he's right, but you're right too. I learned not to mess with Zakk Wylde fans. Man, they're brutal!
Jesus fucking christ, that tone is fucking KILLER man.
See he's a Marshall MG 15 Microstack...yup an Mg and still makes it sound kickass!
@n1ll3r i think it's camo with the cream bullseye printed ontop of the camo
actually at 1:12 he says "and it's actually tuned a whole step down
@Evilsator In the studio he plays it with the talk box, listen to it.

Zakk doesn't even have to shred to be badass. His tone and bibrato are insane enough!!!!
i did play it and i does sound good in either tuning but he does say a whole step and i prefer that myself
Yes, the one with a black rings is the standard. Also, The standard camo version has a maple neck, not a rosewood neck.
Its a custom Les Paul that's named "Gumby" its a one off that was made by a fan and given to him.
he does a hammering lick (with hammer ons and pull offs) with the left hand and then he touches the strings with the right hand( at the same time) and creates a series of artificial harmonics, which sound (because of the pedals for example) pretty damn dirty.
metal on :-)
We all love you Zakk, stop killing your liver!!!
just like normal zakk wild :)
@predz23 nah bro he uses regular 10s for whole step down and uses the really thick ones for tuning to drop A on some of his ozzy stuff
@PV2Rucci No its not because of you look at his regular black ad white bulls eye, the black is at the very top ad the very bottom, and that is black bullseye over cream. So its camo over cream
@themaninblac I know, my mistake...But when he plays the second string it's not a Fsharp It's an E.
he tells you when he says something along the lines "you can recreate it with the pedals i have here"
what scale is he using in his songs, its incredible
yes like zack wild he just made it more unique Zakk Wylde. P.S. Get well soon zakk
Halo Jimmy Paaage! ashihasiuhaiuashasiuhasi
Amazing video.
dude the last riff at the end bout 6:57 was kick ass he changed the original with just a few harmonics and bends and it sounds awesomer but still sounded good in the first place
@zbarneyz "...it`s actually tuned a whole step down." ....remember?
It is drop D, he even says it at 1:15, you can hear that it is drop D if you listen to it anyways, and if you play guitar for awhile understand the tunings and can even tune by ear

this man is jesus. skill wise and kinda in looks too :P
Cool_)))
Marshall JCM 800. I know man, great tone.
The camo one is dark green?
@99ClickNote its DGCFAD.
The only thing bugging me about that awesome bullseye finish, is that I can't see if it's cream with camo-bullseye, or the other way around ):
no one, no one can make a guitar sing and squeal like Zakk Wylde can.
Actually, he has tuned down 3 half steps for the video. So thats C# standard. You can't play along that video if you've tuned down only 2 half steps to D standard. The song on the actuall recording is in D standard though.
does he always tune his guitars half step down?
I tried tuning it a full step down, but the song still doesn't sound right when I play it
What does SDMF stand for?
Yeah he might not be using 10-60 here, but live he does. Interviews from him and Nick keep saying full step down 10-60
ATTENTION GUITARISTS WATCHING THE VIDEO!!!!
I have seen alot of comments about the what tuning this song is in. Zakk clearly shows everyone that this song is in Drop D however there are others saying its in a whole step down. 1:23 E to D just keep it simple.
@FroZt190261 he doesnt drink anymore since his blood clots
Wow. I feel dumb. There's the Camo version with the black circles inbetween. He's using one with the cream colour in between. Weird.
how does he do the thing at 7:10
It's magic. No one mere mortal can play that except his highness, the almighty, Zakk Wylde.
I've been trying for years.
