Traveling to The Gorge for the first time , we watched a great pre-Joni concert on June 9 thanks to Brandi Carlile and her invited friends. Experience the first night of “Echoes Through the Canyon” here with full performances from Brandi, Allison Russell and Marcus Mumford. Appearances by some special guests only made the night more special on Joni Jam Eve.
This was one great night, one great concert, and it was just the right kickoff to a magical weekend.
.I live down river in the gorge and had been to the G Amphitheatre once before (Brandi last year) and watching people see it for the first time (some crying) was just one part of a magical weekend! You did a great job of tellin' your "story" and so many others. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks much for the note. I can understand the emotional responses to seeing The Gorge for the first time. I had such high expectations from all that I read about it and so it had a lot to live up to. It did so and more. It’s magnificent, and it made me want to capture the experience. It must be pretty amazing to live in such a beautiful area. It wasn’t so easy for us to get to or to navigate once we were there, but it was worth every challenge. I can’t wait to visit again. Thanks again!

Thank you! The Eye is such a wonderful tear jerker (for me anyway) of a song. So hard, sometimes, to remain steady in the eye of the hurricane, but Brandi and others give us hope that we will survive!

Thank you much for the kind words. The first two nights of “Echoes Of the Canyon” were truly unforgettable concerts and I wanted to try to capture some of what it felt like to be there.
@@isaacsmike you really did capture it so well. I wish I could have gone to that, I hope to see Brandi in the future one day though

Thanks so much for the positive feedback. To film all of this, I actually used an iPhone Pro Max - nothing more. It’s pretty amazing how decent the cameras are on these high end iPhones now. I used the app Filmmaker Pro for editing, which is really where the video took shape. It’s a great app that provides more editing features than iMovie and I try to take advantage of that. I recently bought LumaFusion, an editing app that’s supposed to be even better, and I look forward to learning it and working with the app in the future.
This is a really satisfying hobby for me. When I experience something special - and Echoes Through the Gorge certainly qualified - I really enjoy trying to capture some of the feeling through video. It’s nice to have that forever and to share. Thanks again for the note.
