I’ve been a musician for many years……trust me when I say this guy is fantastic, a true talent. Don’t stop any time soon….we need you & YOUR MUSIC! THANK YOU !!! GRC
Why haven't more people found Dave and Phil??? It's all good and a huge catalog of great tunes. I love finding more of their music. Yet another treat. Thanks.
I loved the stuff you did with Springfield, MO, Lou Whitney and the Skeletons. They all are gone now. I really enjoy your music. Donnie Clinton was really able to play anything. I am glad that you have you on this earth. I live south of St Louis and to hear real roots music, I miss Springfield, Payne Steward, John Prime. You. I was even David Gilmour, he his wife and kids play Roots music. David is a multi instrument player and goes from banjo to guitar, piano, and he broadcasts the family jams. Music is from the soul. And you are the essence of music. You have inspired me. Made it to 63.
What a pleasure. Thanks for posting. Who is doing interview?, he's good. I'm astonished that Alvin's never come to my attention before; but better late than never. Surprised no one has commented on this, and only 7 others have given it a thumbs up, as he and Phil Alvin and the Guilty Ones are on tour, and will be at Live Oak Music Festival in Santa Ynez Mountains, behind Santa Barbara, this weekend (put on by our public radio station in San Luis Obispo, KCBX.. Look at his bio on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Alvin. As you can see in this interview, he's intelligent, articulate, genuine, warm, not the least bit pretentious. I love what he says about it not mattering how he does his own songs, but owes it to the excellent songwriters whose songs he covers to do his absolute best, to treat them with respect,
Have been a fan of the Dave Alvin and the Blasters since I first heard their song Common Man back in the early 80s as a kid. And have been a fan of Dave's solo stuff since his Black Jack album as well. Under-rated and not well known by most folks but if you like great singer songwriters and impeccable blues guitar playing Dave has all of that in spades. And I'm glad to see him and Phil playing together again and enjoying themselves in the process.
Where do these boys get their axes? I just watched Phil go though three different ultra rare Gibsons in as many videos and I click on this to see this Martin.

Dave is one of those rare talents that can play and also WRITE GREAT MUSIC, think about it, how many great players can actually write great tunes too?
