- I’ve finished an all-around water test for my Huawei P20 Pro.

It is officially announced that Huawei P20 Pro is IP67 waterproof. Is it true?
There are two ports that water is most likely slip inside the phone: charging port and SIM card port. So I made a water test on these 2 ports. And I found that the running water didn’t enter the phone.
In the immersion test, my Huawei P20 Pro stayed in the water for 5 minutes, and I found that the touchscreen was disabled while the phone is under the water. So we can not take pictures or shoot videos underwater.
In the IP67 test, I put the device into the 1-meter deep water and the phone stayed in the water for 30 minutes. And after the IP67 test, I try my Huawei P20 Pro in 1.5-meter water for 15 minutes. The device is still working normally after all these tests.
And I even shot a video underwater. We can shoot video underwater, no worry about water damage. Huawei Mate 10 Pro is awesome!
My suggestion is: Huawei P20 Pro is IP67 water resistant. We can use the Huawei P20 Pro in swimming pool but don’t put the phone in water deeper than 1 meter and pay attention to the SIM card slot where is the weakest against water.

for people who want to take underwater pictures to stop the camera app closing when you put it under water you need to go to the settings and disable the button/finger print reader for home and back settings etc, I found it is this button that makes the camera app close as soon as water touches it as it thinks water are fingers touching it
I realised this after I tried to video my fish in garden pond so I set the controls for home and back and open apps from the button to the onscreen buttons and it works perfect and no cut outs

@@marioamro if you have the fingerprint sensor as ur nav button yes, turn it off when u want to use it under water

Be careful it's water resistant not water proof
Hassan Az iP67 is still solid tho.fir accidental drops in water. Or use in the shower. I'd never purposely being it into a body of water tho

I just got one of these, it's my first waterproof phone. I think it's going to take my brain a while to adjust it being waterproof though. My old Nokia N95 once fell out of my shirt pocket, and straight into my pint of beer. It survived, but I never quite got over the shock of it..

I never have had a problem on the p20 pro.
its not that the screen is disabled under water its that it thinks the water is actually fingers on the screen all at once

Đuro Šibalić actually today I realised it is not the screen going under water that makes the camera app close, it is the home button/finger print reader, if you have it set where you swipe left and right etc for it to close apps or as a home button when you tap it when you try putting it under water as soon as water touches it...it thinks the water is your fingers and so closes the camera app
you go into settings and there is a option to disable the button and you have to choose those settings/buttons/actions to be the onscreen buttons instead
I did this as I wanted to video fish in my pond and it works perfect the camera app stays open/:)
you do need to use the volume button as a shutter button though but this is the same on the s8 and s9

Bito Design yes you disable the fingerprint button and cha get it to put home screen buttons instead and then the screen does not cut off when put under water

i dont think it is a good idea to charge it when it is wet
The phone it self will warning you that the Charger port has moisture and need to Dry before you charge the phone same warning as Samsung A and S series phone
I got this phone few days ago and the battery is insane I don't have to charge the phone for 12 hours and I'm using it a lot so I recommend this phone to anyone

hi! my huawei p20 pro fell into the bathtub for 1 second until i got it out asap and now the speakers are working very quietly and also its not a clean sound and my phone got very hot. i turned it off and an hour later turned it on again. the speaker problem remains the same but now even worse - my touchscreen is not working.what should i do? and how is it possible that my "waterproof" phone is soo damaged after 1 second in water. kind regards

Thanks dude! Watched your video and ruined my phone in the pool. First it lost GSM network, after it started overheating and the touchscreen stopped responding so i couldn't turn it off even with physical buttons. Now its dead!

You should check if you can get a quick camera shot under water by pressing twice the volume - button with the phone locked or at camera app by pressing a volume button if you have set it accordingally at camera's settings.

Took my p20 pro out for a swim in the pool.
When i came up the phone (screen) started to go crazy and later the screen went black.
I got it repaired and they change a new screen and battery.
Im not gonna take it out for a swim again!

What is the difference between holding it in hand or dangling it from a fishing rod? I mean, you can shoot video underwater when dangling it from a rope, but not when holding it in your hand, how does the phone know the difference? And does that mean you can't take photos underwater either (or maybe only with a selfiestick)?
The touch screen does not work under water but, once it's out, it works right? I want to buy this phone for surfing.

I've got an Huawei P20pro since less than one year and there are two days it touched water, it didn't drop in and it didn't stay more than one second in water it only touched it. But It's break, the sreen is not working since. It switch on but it didn't detect my fingers. I've put it in rice and silica gel since two days and nothing changed.
I only want to say that putting a phone under water isn't an good idea even if it is IP67 cause as I said IT CAN DESTROY YOUR PHONE.

No changing when the usb port is wet. The system will notice the port is wet. After the usb port is dried up, the charging is normal.

Got my P20 Pro for 5 months. Went into a pool once, and the speaker stopped working. Thankfully, rice came to the rescue in that one!😁
However, the second time I went into a pool and submerged the phone in a depth of less than 10 cm for under 5 minutes, and the touchscreen stopped working. Sent it back to huawei for repair. Always send it back to them as there is a Diamond VIP service P20 and P20 Pro users are offered for free that they do not notify us about.
I was already sold on the phone just from seeing the pics it can take. Now Im even more glad I bought it! Thanks for this and to marklola12 for the tip about how to take photos underwater as well. Good job!
Apool is no comparison to Huawei. That's why bullying started from the US. Always had Apool which kept crashing whatever the phone or version and cheated by software updates when the phone got a couple of years older. Bought P20 Pro when it came out, which was light years ahead of the US controlled phones - more than 3 yrs not a single crash, beautiful photos, blistering fast and designed well.

Yes, a brand new P20 pro is IP67 waterproof.

The touch screen is not disabled when under water, it's just that water is like a finger for the screen so it thinks that your entire hand is covering the screen so no other touch actions can be registered. Try dropping a drop of water on an app icon and it will launch it ;)

After the you either dry it a bit or blow the water out (as with any phone as water doesn't compress and you'd hear the droplets vibrating) but the speaker stands up wonderfully, I wash my phone once every day to keep it clean

You can put your P20 pro underwater, double click volume down button to take a quick shot. ( you can set this function in camera app)

Hello, and how about if the cellphone goes on the sea? I was on the beach and one wave came and the cellphone droped on the sea water... it could be water prof.. but how about water with salt?!? is necesary to have some special care, cz it was in the water but with salt?!

I washed mine and guess what a blue spot appeared on my screen and it's getting bigger. I'm bit disappointed with it.
Never do like in such stupid videos. I loaded mine into sweet/fresh water in 20 cm deep during about 30 sec.
