- Cortosis was a metal that had a very high energy absorption rate and transmission coefficients, which allowed even the energy of a blaster bolt to be dissipated upon contact. One of the strongest minerals in the galaxy, cortosis could even withstand the blow of a lightsaber and briefly short out its blade.

Vader wasn't a chump that needed to rely on such tactics. He didn't care about those kinds of things, because he was just *_better_* than others that would have. He was one of the best duelists, he was insanely strong in the Force to a point where very, very few other Jedi at their peaks could even come close. Most Jedi Masters on the Council didn't even have the kind of power he did.

Technically already done in the original what if Darth Vader upgraded his suit.
But what about what if vader upgraded his suit with both Beskar and Cortosis ?

You would want to pick one if you mixed the metals you would lose the benefits they each have more Beskar would increase the defence would lose the high frequency vibration caused by pure cortosis and vise versa

This was amazing. I’ve been a fan of your videos for a while and it’s always fun to see your interesting SW what if’s. It was also fun to see Vader using cortosis to upgrade his suit getting shown some love. This is definitely an interesting scenario and it should definitely get shown some more love. Plus I think we can all agree that this is probably one of the most interesting/unique scenarios in SW…but it’s a welcome one. Also if Vader did use cortosis for his suit…then it would definitely be an interesting opportunity to show another side of his character and make it even more interesting. It was also nice to see Vader upgrade his suit in the most unique way with one of the best SW metals getting shown some love, since he usually never get the chance to do personal stuff like this that much and it was a nice change of pace to see him take the initiative and definitely made us all impressed. Plus it was nice to see Vader get that opportunity to give an advantage and vital edge to prevent him from ever being used as a slave…afterall it was nice to see him have a solid plan, afterall this was probably the smartest course of action they could take, so it was nice to see him come up with this plan to shift the power balance of the galaxy, since he knows that there’s still opportunity and hope in the galaxy. Also it’s always nice to see just how determined Vader truly is…also this was definitely something Vader would do. It was also nice to see Vader keep his love for building things…plus I think him having a suit made of cortosis (or even beskar if he was lucky) just makes him more powerful, dangerous and more of a badass. Afterall, other than beskar, cortosis is one of my favourite SW metals, and I’m glad The Acolyte brought it back to SW cannon and how you’re giving it the love and respect it deserves. Great job as always and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
I do have a few ideas for some possible what if’s:
1) What if Rey was a Mandalorian…essentially what if Din Djarin found Rey and took her in as a Foundling.
2) What if Ezra was a Mandalorian…something like how both his parents were Mandalorians who left Mandalore and went to start their own lives (you could still keep most of Ezra’s backstory) and potentially make Ezra and Sabine a couple (since Disney won’t, we have too…#ezrabine4ever.
3) What if Jango Fett and/or Boba Fett Joined the Republic…I think something interesting could happen with this.
4) What if Rey, Finn and Poe went back in time to the Clone Wars…this would make the World Between Worlds even more of an important focal point and I could also see them get along well with Anakin, Ashoka, Rex and the rest of the 501st (it would be fun to see Rey, Finn and Poe join the 501st)

The fact that it was Thrawn that killed Sideos was pretty good. What if Vader made peace with the Jedi but still remained a true Dark side user.

Realistically speaking, cortosis is a metal that very brittle/malleable. So the fact that it can break easily is not an ideal metal to use as an upgrade material.

What if; Anakin never gave into his feelings for Padme (Pentre Patrol did his version), Aayla Secura was the chosen one and became Darth Talon, Shme Skywalker was adopted by the Tusken Raiders, Boba Fett saved his Tusken family, Count Dooku was a regular count for the CIS, Jabba the Hutt supported the Jedi at the Start of the Clone Wars, and finally, what if Sabine and Ezra fell in love?

it would had been badass if Vader had used everything to redirect the shot from the Death Star in order to save Leia, like when moms lift cars to save their children.

For a moment, i thought that it was Thrawn who manipulated the Rebels into the Death Star to destroy Vader and keep everything for himself.
What if the world between worlds Anakin could bounce between events in time, being able to alter them, for example when young anakin killed the tuskans after shmi died, the new Anakin would go back and bring shmi back to life as young anakin is slaughtering the tuskans. He can change small events to affect the larger ones, and with him being the chosen one, ot would not affect the living galexy too much
What if jocasta nu helped obi wan with anikan training providing texts and knowledge on the force and the original version of the code. Were obi wan can provide training about combat he does not possess knowledge of the higher mysteries which nu does such as force healing which would be useful in attack of clones. Plus it would anakin greater resources for learning and may become a consular or at least a sentinel instead of a guardian. All this could happen because of instead of sending anakin to his room where he just tinkers they send him to work in the library where nu will give him more discipline and may take a maternal interest.

What if Anakin, after the Battle of Naboo and before he knew that he could be a Jedi, was inspired by the Luker Hulks and the fact that they were just giant freighters and decided to make freighters like the YT1300 into weapon platforms?
Maybe he does it just for fun or does the Jedi thing with it and provides them to planets in need of protection from pirates. Would probably be decent against droid fighters.

In the novels, comics&rpg stats for Vader, he always had Cortosis for his soft suit while the hard armor is Beskar/Mandalorian Iron. It's how he survived after being defeated by several Jedi Masters in previous encounters. Those Jedi Masters lost in the last second because in their duels or final blows, their lightsabers got disrupted long enough for Vader to strike back and kill them. Other than Force Choke&levitation, Vader typically loses to other Force powers if you discount the lightsaber combat. There's the Jensaarai cult of grey Jedi that has battlesuits composed entirely of Cortosis and their lightsabers have a secondary focusing crystal that negates the Cortosis' disruption with their practice lightsaber duels.

What if evan piel became a mentor or second master to anakin.
Or anakin became a healer either before or after his mother death could be related to his friendship with offee or alternatively what if he was trained by tra sa who taught windu and actually did not forbid attachment as shown by her relationship with tholme , they could become like a pseudo parents to anakin and train him away from the temple in azati martial arts and from trasa the living force as she is a plant lady so imagine anakin controlling plant life.

fun fact, in this version maul would still be alive as the last sith along with yoda who's the last jedi, provided this took place before the time of return of the jedi.
I was under the impression that cortosis was not a metal but a non-metallic, fibrous mineral, more ahin to asbestos than anything else. In the Old Republic, it was described as a brittle substance that had to be hammered into metal to give it structural support. It could not be shaped with heat because it had a nearly unlimited ability to absorb thermal energy. The idea that it could cause light sabers to shut down was only introduced in The Force Unleashed video game.
I'm not convinced Vader didn't already have some lightsaber resistant materials in his armor. In Episode V, Luke's lightsaber bounced off of Vader's shoulder pauldron, and that hit is why Vader ultimately disarmed Luke.

Not really feasible cortosis is very brittle making it extremely unsuitable for armor.
Of you attempt to mix it it loses its ability to short out sabers.
It would be a very bad idea, as its only useful against a hyper specific weapon.

As we know darth vader was a natural engineer and could use mechaguru or whatever so what if he used skill to create nanobots to repair his lungs and burns while also making limbs that could conduct the force to make lightning. This could relate to inquisitor baris as she used nanobots in the bomb and he may remember nanobots and their uses. He could could also conduct experiments diguised as torture to fool sidious, learning to heal wounds, make force sensitive droids/limbs and using nano bots to manipulate mididclorians to strip or enhance the force in individuals.
What I was thinking was that he used nanobots to remove scar tissue especially around the lungs and he would be dipped in bacta or bacta would be applied this would allow him breath which means he can meditate more deeply. And for the limbs, it is possible to make material force sensitive and I was thinking he make limbs skeletal looking like in attack of the clones but would then cover the we either grafed flesh from his body or flesh made from his blood and other ingredients like perhaps kyber crystal this would make the force flow from him easier and perhaps with the sith alchemy in the limbs making his force lightning more powerful. Basically an uber vader who is perhaps stronger than full potential anakin.
I would think that the cortosis would also make him nigh invulnerable to force lightning too.
In the end, it was all a shallow victory for the Empire. Curse you, Saw Gerrera. 😠

Here's an idea. What if Anakin only pretended to join the sith so he could warn the temple Jedi about order 66?
Light side Anakin could have done a Cotosis upgrade of his one cybernetic arm.
That could have changed Galactic history as it would have enabled him to defeat Dooku without Palpatine present and so capture him alive.
Anakin grabs Dookus lightsaber during their previous duel or baits Dooku into striking at his cyberarm, and Dooku is effectively disarmed.
So Anakin doesn't get that darkside boost from murdering Dooku and Palpatine is hampered by no longer having his inside man at the top of the CIS.
The whole battle of Corescant and Grevious's kidnapping of Palpatine won't happen, in fact Grevious is now a personal threat to Palpatine.
And the CIS while no longer being secretly nerfed, are thrown into dissaray with the loss of Dooku and fear that he might give intel to the GAR. By the time of their last previous duel, the CIS is already on the backfoot.
And what if prisoner Dooku does reveal who Siddiuos is ?
But even if everything else still goes ahead as before [Anakin gets his Cortosis arm just before or after the battle of Corescant], then there's still a big change to Galactic history as Vader would have beaten Obi-Wan on Mustafar and so not been burnt.
So General Anakin Skywalker is Emperor Palpatines' "right-hand man."
What if Thrawn found and raised Anakin Skywalker's son.

Thrawn and Vader vehemently opposed the construction of the Death Star. And considered it a massive waste of resources. With that said the Death Star project would have been moth balled if not scraped completely with these two running the show.
Vader could defeat Sidious but only when all his armor parts would be made from cortosis, even his mechanic legs, arms and even life support parts. Even his material that covers his body, gloves and boots. Everything what he have implanted or what he wears should be made from cortosis to succeed in battle against force lighting users.

How pure does the cortosis have to be to allow for it to handle DIRECT light saber strikes? Would it be beneficial to give Vader a suit with hardened, pure Beskar plating with cortosis underlay for increased flexibility since it's a maleable metal similar-ish to gold? Kinda like the gel layer of a Halo Spartan to allow the efficient dissipating of heat. Cortosis could, theoretically, be used in a similar enough manner with proper execution.
What if Ahsoka, Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger and Luke Skywalker formed the New Jedi Order?
What if Yoda took in Leila at Dagoba.
Yeah... not too crazy about the ending. Was Thrawn not aware of how things were going with the DS and taking out Yavin? Would he not have ensured security was tighter to avoid the Empire's best weapon be destroyed? Also Vader killed Reva, thankfully, but he did not look into what she had been doing or what Obi was up to, leading him to maybe find the twins?
