Shane: *only appears normal because your eyes are lying to you to protect you from the realization of just how low to the ground the chair is and the ridiculous extent Shane has to fold his limbs to fit into it*
This whole episode is just our minds protecting us from the trauma of having witnessed the true horror of Shane rising like a demon from behind the chair

sometimes people will meme and say things like that as a joke -- not joking about therapy directly but just the tone? hard to explain -- but even from the beginning when Ryan would say lighthearted things like this, it was clear he was actually in therapy and it keeps being obvious that he's been doing the work to be healthier. it's clear he's not memeing and that he's being genuine, even if he's saying it lightheartedly. and I love it so much, I love that life for him
it was on unsolved at the conjuring house where he said "I'm establishing boundaries with you, demon, and my therapist says it's very important to establish boundaries" and obviously it's a joke bc establishing boundaries with demons lol but it's so sweet and lovely to hear him use that language and to be clearly implementing healthier things in his thinking and life 🥰

Honestly, I commented this like three months ago and completely forgot. So exciting though! Thanks for picking mine! It's a true story that my mom once told me completely casually as though everyone has potentially witnessed someone get murdered in their driveway.
Edit: I have a correction from my mother: that was not something a psychologist told her, it was something a psychology TEACHER told my aunt. Oops. Also, not all the balloons were delightful; apparently some were very scary (but, like, they kept watching so evidently not THAT scary).
This story was so interesting to me!! Super spooky, does your mom really think their brains made it up to shield them from witnessing a murder or does she think they were possibly something real???
@@eggsndlegsbby8304 Thank you! I'm glad you found it interesting! Honestly, she seems really unsure. She and her sister both really felt like they saw the balloons, but she also knows they didn't behave in the way that real balloons would. She definitely thinks it's possible they witnessed the murder (the man was beaten to death with a baseball bat so it would have likely been drawn out and loud enough to wake them), but she can never quite get over the fact that both she and her sister are convinced they saw the same thing.
That being said, false memories (particularly in relation to trauma) are absolutely a documented phenomenon, and I personally have always been curious if she could possibly recover any memories of the murder. Of course, recovered memories are famously unreliable, and also I would never actually want her to potentially recover any of those memories on account of how distressing I'm sure they would be,

It might be my seasonal depression talking, but this was probably the funniest episode of Too Many Spirits so far. I can't wait for the rest of the season
shoutout to seasonal depression, I hope you're able to surround yourself (with appropriate physical distance and rigorous vaccination) with helpful and supportive people and that you're able to take really good care of yourself while riding out the season. it's tough out there. personally, I have a playlist of all the TMS videos and my favorite non-TMS watcher videos that I will watch/have playing in the background when I feel like garbage, which is 99% of the time (it's been a tough year lol). and it doesn't fix the feelings, but hey, you've got the boys in the background which is better than not.
TLDR I hope you're able to take care of yourself and get help from loved ones when you need it 💝💝

11:20 sometimes people meme about going to therapy and just use it as a joke, but it's actually extremely clear that Ryan does go to therapy and has been working on himself and I genuinely, wholeheartedly love it because I'm also in therapy and it's just nice to hear people saying "I don't like that negative self talk" and talking about boundaries, even in light hearted ways as he's done elsewhere. we stan a king who is putting in the work.

I have had the worst week. I am at a Mexican restaurant in Roanoke, VA waiting for a friend to tow me home because my transmission died on the way home from PA to NC.
