Been waiting for a good comparison video! I am choosing between Dwarf 3 and Seestar and because I do birdwatching I think Dwarf 3 is the better choice. I hope they implement the bird species detection feature!
Good choice! Dwarf3 has also the autocapture feature from dwarflab app, that autodetects birds in live view and start tracking and 4k video capturing of the birds
There is good reason to have both, the dwarf 3 will make an excellent companion to all the other bots on the market, it’s cheap enough to add to everyone’s arsenal
Clearly the dwarf II has it's place in our hearts and will stay useful for the wider field of view. It is slightly smaller, has larger SD capacity, so may be the "travel" scope for hiking. But, the Dwarf III is going to really help with getting some sleep at night with the the longer exposure time! It it obviously, from what you are showing, a better scope for astrophotography with the higher quality sensor and longer focal length. It still has a wide field of view, but only the largest DSO objects won't fit. Most will benefit from the longer focal length. With an EQ orientation, the Dwarf III will be really nice! I do wish the camera sensor could be rotated, but I think the price point and tech prevents that.
Hello, thanks for the feedback, having the option of rotating the sensor would be nice though, but as you mention so many features at affordable price, there are astronomy filters that cost as much as d3 like 400-500$ Have clear sky with d2 let me know if you decide to upgrade and if so how you feel about d3 experience
Maybe they will make an option in the app to control d2 and d3 at once for those who have both, set them side by side, take photos with both, use d2 to the get the wider view, and d3 to capture the details in the center.
To control both from one phone? Sounds like a good ideea. I suspect dearf 3 will be capable in the future to use the widefield lens in the same time with telephoto and capture also milky way but we need to wait and see
Thank you so much! Dwarf 2 suffers from star bloat when using ir pass. Can be corected in blur xterminator but you need pixinsight for that and blur xterminator together costs 400$ or so
What may be interesting is if you take these sets of images and process them both using your talents and any softwares you deem fit and see if you can get the end product to look the same. We would be interested in how much time it takes processing each stack to draw out the best quality. I am going to guess that working with the Dwarf2 images will take significantly longer because you would have to try and extract the stars, lessen their bloat a lot, then work on the nebulosity for best color rendition. After all this, restack the whole set of processed images and see what you come up with. Can the DWARF2 images look like the DWARF3 images and how much time does it take to work with each set to make them look as similar (best) as possible?
Hello. I captured now my own set of images but i do not think is posible to get the dwarf2 inages at same level as dwarf3 taken same integration time and good calibration on both dwarf 3 image quality will be always auperior and you can t change the raw inage quality with post peocessing, only make the inage look better but you are limites by snr, aperture l, resolution, and imaging sensor. I observed this better last few nights when testing dwarf 3 and dwarf 2 side by side uaing on both the astro filter (ir pass) also on post processing when i reprocessed images that i dis pricessed in the past with dwarf 2, the difference was noticeble in livestacking and when processing will be even bigger difference since you are more limited on dwarf 2 data
Do you know if the D2 data was taken on IR-cut or IR-pass? The D3 cuts IR no matter what. If the D2 data includes IR, it is obvious that stars would be brighter and also larger. I use an 800nm band pass filter with my D2 for pure IR photography. Those lens systems cannot be designed for full-VIS and IR, something will be out of focus over the full spectral range of D2's sensor.
Hello,.i asked it seems was ir pass. Unfortunatly d2 does not focus good the stars with ir pass but still usefull for the extra signal if you have blir xterminator stars can be corected to an amont if using a liniar not stretch stack
Hi. I like the seestar also, but with the new capabilities of the d3 so many feaurtes larger fov, and improvements compared with d2 i would go for dwarf3 if i had to chose
@@nyraiderfan423 Well if you decide to go with the dwarf 3 you can use my aff links ind escription if you want to support the channel, next few weeks will test the dwarf 3 and upload data for channel members from nebula plan and up, you can also join if you want to download the new data or my other astro data that you can also use.
Nice review, thanks for that.. is there any details as to when they might start shipping? I’m looking forward to when you might be able to test it yourself.
Thank you. Maybe becaus eis sharper.or it had more.rotarion. one of the two, but regarding tracking capabilities d3 will do better since it can do up to 60 sec exposures
Is all in the video, Only applyed gradient corection tool and blurXtermiantor, and in the photo with m8 from end of the video made also a Noise reductio wiuth NoiseXtermiantor, and a curve stretch
I forgot to ask about filters i suspected they used uhc for d2 and dualband internal for d3. In september i will do my own tests and show everything that will be used. I will ask about what filters they used
This comparison makes no sense. I shot the lagoon with D2 with much better results with just an ir-cut filter. Very likely they used the dual-band filter on D3 and nothing on D2. Maybe the pictures were not even shot at the same time. Terrible review

Besides field rotation, I also saw curved colored streaks at the top left and bottom right.
The stack images in Siril did not have calibration frames
calibration frames needed

Looking forward to your own images. Particularly as regards getting a good focus and if the issues with IR Cut cause a problem.

Hi I noticed that you used a osc preprocessing without flats script in Siril. Is that freely available? Thanks for the video.
Yes, it is Free. Glad you enjoyed watching
not even in the same space dwarf 3 way better allround but 800plus euro in portugal
