The music in background is low. You should have increased it as there is some disturbance of voice 😉
What is the effect of draining the caustic soda water down the kitchen sink- pipes are generally plastic/PVC.
Well we have been using this method for quite sometime and our drainage pipe is PVC too.
However, haven't seen any problems yet... Hope this helps!
The effect of draining down the pipes is to clean them, caustic Soda is a very popular and common drain cleaner, it is corrosive and reacts with Aluminium
Please use gloves for heavens sake while handling chemicals! Absolutely no need to use hot water. The reaction of water and caustic soda creates heat. BTW where did you buy the caustic soda? Very difficult to source in Bangalore.

Amazon used to sell it, however, seems like out of stock. you can check at any local hardware stores for the same. hope this helps.

Why no rubber gloves, and good chance of getting this in your eyes..Should always add flakes to water..not the other way round ! I would add the flakes to a decent sized bucket of warm water, slowly add the flakes will generate heat and bubble a bit, mix it in till clear, simply pour the the dissolved Soda onto the filters till covered let in soak for 10 minutes and rinse off.. Certainly works well. Just to add, don't try this with Aluminium filters, the filters would probably melt due the concentration Chemical reaction..
