Summary of Russia's Economic Situation in 2025 Economic Challenges: Inflation: Russia is facing high inflation at 38%, which is driving up the prices of goods and services. Interest Rates: Interest rates have risen to 21%, making it expensive for businesses and individuals to borrow money. Taxes: The corporate tax has been raised from 20% to 25%, and the personal income tax is now progressive, meaning higher tax rates for higher incomes. Agricultural Problems: Lack of Seeds and Technology: Sanctions have limited Russia's access to Western seeds and technology, negatively affecting agricultural production. Labor Shortage: Many farm workers have been sent to the war, further reducing the production capacity in agriculture. Military Expenditures: Increased Military Spending: Russia has significantly increased its military spending, which now exceeds the budgets of 2022 and 2023 combined. Lack of Economic Return: The large investments in the military do not yield economic returns as equipment is quickly destroyed in the conflict. Sectors Under Pressure: Coal Industry: China has stopped buying Russian coal, leading to mass closures of coal companies. Transport Sector: Many state-funded transport companies are closing, and it is expected that up to 30% will close in 2025. Banking Sector: There has been a 420% increase in private bankruptcies in 2024, and it is expected to rise further in 2025. Long-Term Challenges: Corruption: Corruption hampers economic growth and efficiency and creates mistrust among the population and international partners. Lack of International Support: After the conflict, it will be difficult for Russia to gain international support and investment, especially without significant reforms. Economic Decline: Russia faces a prolonged economic decline that could take generations to reverse. Conclusion Russia's economy faces significant challenges in 2025, including high inflation, high interest rates, increased taxes, declining agricultural production, increased military spending, and a wave of bankruptcies. The country is in a difficult economic situation reminiscent of Germany after World War II, but without the same international support and willingness to reform. It will take generations to rebuild trust and stability in the economy and society. SE thes ruclips.net/video/qK7yi15m_KE/видео.html

Putin can ONLY pay the military at this level by drawing down the liquid assets of his savings fund; when the savings are gone, he's done. The house of cards will collapse.
So why do INDEPENDENT economists point out even with inflation, average Russians can buy more essentials and even many non-essentials with their wage than Westerners?
The official numbers are the real numbers. You can find the Ministry of Finance's inflation reports somewhere or other, they're public, and they publish them regularly. Detailing how they arrived at their figures; by looking at the rise or fall in prices of a huge range of goods and services all around the country.
The real numbers are much worse. Inflation iscaround 25 to 30 percent. Russians have been on a spending spree maxing out their credit which will default. Same with mortgages. The civilian sector is facing a large number of bankruptciescincluding large corporations like Gazprom and Lukoil. Gazprom insists it must triple prices to all domestic users while China will likely insist on price cuts. Ukraine is systematically destroying popelines refineries, storage tanks, and ports that load oil for export. They just shut down Russia's largest port bear Saint Petersburg and blew up each of Russia's two largest oil refineries. You can assume tgat all of Russis published numbers are pure fiction just as China's are.

And American debt at $36 trillion is around $105,000 per every man, woman and child. A family of 4 means $420,000 before even examining their mortgages, personal debts, credit cards, student loans, etc. Sounds like paradise.
That inflation comes from the increase in the industry and and higher wages. The so called oligarchs are no longer spending their money in London, it’s piling up in Moscow
In 2025, it is easy to predict that ru will not be able to even occupy the Donbass before they are economically done for. Not convinced? Here are some stats from between 2023 & now: - More ru soldiers were "de-alived" in 2024 than in the first 2 years of the war. - Artillery: While ru had a massive advantage in 2022 (which was a big factor), today the ru daily use of artillery has more than dropped by half. - Gliding bombs: Since Nov 2024, ru went from 80/day to 40 per day to now 20). WHY/HOW? Due to the West allowing the AFU to (finally) do some deep strikes on ru Command Centers inside ru territory. - The Black Sea: after 3 years, ru is OUT! In fact, there are more UA presence in the Black Sea than ru. - About the drones: By Mid-2024, and because of a much faster product development iteration: a) the AFU uses more drones daily than ru. And b) the AFU now owns the night with their FPV drones. In other words: More drones and better drones. - At the current rate of territorial "gains", ru will need another 3 year JUST to occupy the Donbass. All in all, while the AFU has been "Trading Space for Time", ru has been "trading their country's economic future for a few destroyed and unusable fields". Lastly, the distance between Bakhmut (2023) and Chasiv Yar (2025) is 10km. Think about it.

How much more deterioration is needed for Russia to fail to function as a country? I'm thinking about things like: ● the government defaulting on its debts ● the oligarchs and siloviki panicking about the loss of their wealth ● pensions being decreased even in the face of inflation ● enormous levels of corporate bankruptcies ● a large unemployment rate ● widespread failures of infrastructure (e.g. electricity, heating, water supply, gas supply, shortage of gasoline and diesel, roads, railroads, health care, fire service, demoralized police, emergency services, and etc.) ● strong decrease in the ability to sell oil and gas ● the onset of starvation in the poorest regions Dysfunction on this level should be achievable through the use of well-enforced and additional sanctions, rather than with more bloodshed, with the goal and result of ending the Russian capacity to wage war, both now and for the foreseeable future. However, it seems like there is still a long way to go. Historically, there have been countries that have managed to carry on in much worse conditions than currently exist in Russia, examples being Germany in 1923, Zimbabwe in 2008, and Venezuela in 2019.
I wouldn't believe a thing coming out of your ass. I look at and study only facts, not BS media like this channel who make the same untrue claims for views
First of all study history before you write bullshit. First of all Russia went into Ukraine to protect the ethnic ukranian russian people living in the eastern part of Ukraine. These people because of their russian background have been under attack by the Ukranian army since 2014. Something which wihich I know something about since I come from Moldova a former soviet country and i have friends both in Russia and in Ukraine and neither Ukraine or Russia is the enemy. The enemy is NATO. Secondly Russia sees Nato expantion into Ukraine as a threat to its security. Because during the Bucharest summit Nato actually promised not to expand an inch more to the east. But Nato did the opposite thing until it was on a doorstep to Russia. So of course Russia has to defend its security and protect its people. Of course you have inflation in Russia but the inflation in Europe is much higher. Russia will survive and will grow from the economical point of view because Russia is a very rich in resources and is able to produce many things by itself without the help of the west. The same can not be said for the west. The sanctions are having a much bigger and negative effect on the west and not on Russia. And by the way. The war started in 2014 by the Ukrainian military killing the ethnic ukranian russian people in eastern Ukraine, something which was shown on the news in Moldova. Also if you look at Ukraine from a historical point of view a big part of Ukraine is russian and was a part of Russia, especially in the East. Odessa is a russian city. Many people who live in Ukraine speak Russian. Ukranian is a dialect of the russian language. Therefore from a historical, and ethnical and traditional point of view Russia and Ukraine are connected and it is understandable that Russia sees Nato expantion into Ukraine as a threat to its security. Because Nato is not anymore about peace. Why do you think that Nato has over 700 or 800 military bases around the world. It is not for peace, Russia has only 9 or 10 if I am not mistaken. If you are about peace you do not need that many military bases in countries which you have no business there. Had Nato respected The Bucharest summit, Minsk agreement one and two, this war had never started in the first place. And before the mayor of the Lugansk and Donetsk had ask for help for Russia to enter Ukraine to stop the genoside on the ethnic, Ukranian, Russian population in Eastern Ukraine, Putin tried to resolve this conflict throug peace but sadly the West said now because the West does not want peace. Because you the American Military Complex who makes a lot of money on this war. They do not want peace. From a historical point of view parts of western Ukraine belong to Romania, Poland and Hungary. Therefore you have other ethnic groups living there. A big part of Ukraine is an artificial country which was created from various ethnic groups. The truth will never be told by the media. The truth can only be found if you make your own research and study history. And Russia is and has never been the enemy. Russia is protecting its borders and people from Nato agrression and expansion.
Study history. Zelensky did not try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity. In 2014, there was a coup. Shortly after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture were suppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years, from 2014 the Ukrainian military indiscriminately shelled ethic Ukranian russian civilians living in Donbas, eastern Ukraine. If Zelensky had respected the Minsk Agreement and promised neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8-year civil war would have ended, and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy. Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel, and Hollande admitted that Ukraine did not intend to comply with the Minsk Agreements. Who did not want peace? Who advised against the peace talks in April 2022? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at the time when Russia’s national security was being compromised when NATO began expanding eastward. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine’s joining NATO was a red line (November 2021), because Russia sees this as a threat to its national security and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act to defend our national security. It is unacceptable to strengthen one country’s national security at the expense of another. The Russians have legitimate security concerns. September 20, 2021. Ukraine launched military exercises with the US and NATO. NATO is not a defensive alliance. NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the UN Charter). We must never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. Who blew up the pipeline and caused an environmental disaster? Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest. Zelensky tried to invoke Article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland. Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture were suppressed. Poroshenko said: “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens - theirs will hide in basements”. Russians will never forget the Odessa massacre of 2014. The whole world needs to know about it. Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine’s negotiating team during the peace talks. He wanted to help his country. Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13-year-old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list. Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian author and journalist) are on this list. There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have indiscriminately fired on etnic , ukranian, russian civilians in the Donbas (they used anti-aircraft mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence). The Azov troops trapped in the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol were using civilians as human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite the presence of humanitarian corridors. Russia held a proposed ceasefire to allow civilians to leave, but Azov would not allow civilians to leave. Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) RIP. The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the people in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims). The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and seriously injured their young daughter. I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have presented a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion. I have given a brief overview of events that took place. To explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would have to be written. Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book that states the facts and allows readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.
clown - do you really believe that will happen ? You are one of those doughnuts happy to shed every last drop of Ukraine blood. Russia is gaining ground every day. Ukraine will never be able to win this war. If this carried on there will be no Ukraine left. Is that what you want ? FFS
Whan will happen then with Russian people living on those territories? Ukraine treats them like nazis treated Jews. Do you treat these people the same?
This is why Trump gave them 100 days. That's not time to think and negotiate, that's time for Russia to run out of steam and be in a terrible negotiating position. Ukraine will win, it is only a question of time.
It is hard to know, from an economic point, how much longer Russia can sustain the war. I have been thinking only one more year, but it has also been suggested Russia could survive two more years. I hope the current focus on a ceasefire does not snatch defeat from the jaws of success for Ukraine.
At the start of the war we were hoping that the russia would be done for by this time. But it doesnt. Biden is a pussy and US is soft and weak. At the same time russia got the time to adapt. And as i would always say "the state has endless resources as long as it is sucking the living out of its own citizens". Which appears to be true. The living conditions of the people in russia is going down, which is covered on this channel. But is it the sign of the end? Not even close to.
What Ukrainian successes. Russia has been advancing for 18 straight months, they have a man power shortage and they are considering lowering the conscription age to 18. The US is cutting off aid Europe can’t supplement the shortfall, the Russians have a trade surplus of $114.9 billion. Their industrial capacity is obviously several times beyond the west. But ok
Russia can continue the war almost indefinitely, its is self sufficient and in the last 4 years has annihilated 4 NATO armies, and a new battalion in Kursk so call it 4 .5 armies. Ukraine has never been in a winning position since the start of the SMO. wake up.
It's also worth mentioning that many economists consider the official inflation numbers to be way under the actual inflation, which is likely to be in the mid 30s rather than 9.5%. At this stage the only thing you can rely on regarding Russia is that the officials are lying every time they open their mouth.
Russia has no deficit, it is in budget surplus, despite being at war. It borrows only just over 30 % of GDP. USA, EU and UK are borrowing 100% - 150 % of GDP and are at risk of bankruptcy and currency collapse.
Another one western dude is about to tell me, how my country is collapsing. I wish I had a dollar every time someone says “Russia is breaking” or “Russia is collapsing”
And another Russian bot trying to say everything is okay. If everything is okay, then why are you so triggered by this? Go back to your bald master and stay there.
I'm sorry, but I've been hearing RUclips bloggers telling me the Russian economy is about to collapse for at least six months now. I find the ruble/dollar exchange rate encouraging, as it's been getting progressively worse for Russia since July, but I'm becoming skeptical of the constant promises of Russia's eminent demise. Like crying 'wolf.'
Seriously, they been saying this for literally years. 😅 But i do think it's going to be a very slow process considering Russia has help and brainwashed citizens.
I hear ya. But if your income was down by 60 percent, your car only had two wheels, half was on fire, only a gallon of gas left, going 5 mph, youre coming up on a 30 degree incline hill, and your bank account only had 20 bucks... Would you make it into work? Half Russia's equipment is gone (two wheels), half is on fire (half refinery capacity gone), running out of gas and money (low money reserves), going 5 mph (it took 2 years to go from bahkmut to chasiv yar, 5 miles). No one would say "you arent in trouble" or about to collapse. Collapse is imminent and any of these problems would be catastrophic by themselves. The 30 percent hill is the 35 percent inflation they are facing despite 20 percent interest rates. It isnt even slowing the catastrophe. They are cooked, in so many ways.
@@tomshady3530 I hope you're right, but I've been hearing all this for a while now, and yet the Russians keep nibbling away Ukrainian territory, with no end in sight.
How many countries would end a war when you lost so many good citizens when it started by exodus, then lost almost 1 million other people from the same war.
9.5 is the "official" rate of inflation but you know well that it's much higher than that. Reference interest rate if 21% and if inflation was just 9.5% it would mean Russian people could make 11.5% net gain just by leaving money at the bank. That's obviously not realistic. So the real inflation rate in Russia should be closer to 20%

@@katiehettinger7857 This is also the essence of war. Ukraïne wins when the Russians left. Russia however first wins after the profits of the occupations are higher then the costs of the occupation and the war before that occupation and when the Russian people's wealth improve or at least not get less.
Russia has been financing the war through oil and gas exports and by depleting its cash reserves. However, energy revenues are declining, and liquid reserves are running low, forcing the government to raise taxes significantly. Yet, given the state of the economy, it is difficult to see how this will close the gap. Corporate bankruptcies surged by around 50% in 2024, while the share of businesses spending more than two-thirds of their earnings on interest payments has risen by 20%. Meanwhile, 37% of companies are facing non-payments from clients-almost double the level of the previous year. In such an environment, higher taxes are unlikely to generate substantial revenue and could instead push struggling firms over the edge, deepening the economic crisis.
This is the best post on this video and inline with what we know factually. The only thing I would add is that we know China refuses to pay in rubles and instead pays for Russian imports, like energy, in Yuan. We also know that India also refuses to pay in rubles and instead pays Russia in Rupees. Both of the currencies are not beneficial to Russia in terms of the Ruble. It means the only thing they can do with those currencies is buy Chinese or Indian exports. In the case of India this particularly challenging since Russia traditionally buys very little from India...so much of those Rupees that Russia earns are essentially worthless at least in the short term.

Besides that deficits have nothing to do with anything, the only countries that can run a surplus are dirt poor countries where their labor is exploited, not every country can run a surplus (do the math). The real question is does Russia have resources especially labor and capital goods and the answer is no, they are in deep trouble.

Russia is breaking? Joe , I am breaking down with laughter 😂😂😂. You are going to destroy every bit of credibility that you don’t currently have. Ukraine is defeated.
A Russian would be insane to park his money in the bank. The Bank of Russia denies it but a Russian lawmaker proposed a law requiring the Bank of Russia to get legislative permission before seizing bank balances above a certain limit and exchanging the money for government bonds. Obviously, the legislator wanted a heads up before the government raided the banks for cash so he could save his. A better idea is to stock up on necessities of life that are not perishable. They will retain value and will always have a market.
From Terence Wise in UK……Joe Bloggs description of Russia is a small example when compared to the West and the examples of inflation are not comparable

Summary of Russia's Economic Situation in 2025
Economic Challenges:
Inflation: Russia is facing high inflation at 38%, which is driving up the prices of goods and services.
Interest Rates: Interest rates have risen to 21%, making it expensive for businesses and individuals to borrow money.
Taxes: The corporate tax has been raised from 20% to 25%, and the personal income tax is now progressive, meaning higher tax rates for higher incomes.
Agricultural Problems:
Lack of Seeds and Technology: Sanctions have limited Russia's access to Western seeds and technology, negatively affecting agricultural production.
Labor Shortage: Many farm workers have been sent to the war, further reducing the production capacity in agriculture.
Military Expenditures:
Increased Military Spending: Russia has significantly increased its military spending, which now exceeds the budgets of 2022 and 2023 combined.
Lack of Economic Return: The large investments in the military do not yield economic returns as equipment is quickly destroyed in the conflict.
Sectors Under Pressure:
Coal Industry: China has stopped buying Russian coal, leading to mass closures of coal companies.
Transport Sector: Many state-funded transport companies are closing, and it is expected that up to 30% will close in 2025.
Banking Sector: There has been a 420% increase in private bankruptcies in 2024, and it is expected to rise further in 2025.
Long-Term Challenges:
Corruption: Corruption hampers economic growth and efficiency and creates mistrust among the population and international partners.

In 2025, it is easy to predict that ru will not be able to even occupy the Donbass before they are economically done for. Not convinced? Here are some stats from between 2023 & now:
- More ru soldiers were "de-alived" in 2024 than in the first 2 years of the war.

Go back to your bald dictator and keep enjoying being alone.
How much more deterioration is needed for Russia to fail to function as a country? I'm thinking about things like:
● the government defaulting on its debts
● the oligarchs and siloviki panicking about the loss of their wealth
● pensions being decreased even in the face of inflation
● enormous levels of corporate bankruptcies
● a large unemployment rate
● widespread failures of infrastructure (e.g. electricity, heating, water supply, gas supply, shortage of gasoline and diesel, roads, railroads, health care, fire service, demoralized police, emergency services, and etc.)
● strong decrease in the ability to sell oil and gas
● the onset of starvation in the poorest regions
Dysfunction on this level should be achievable through the use of well-enforced and additional sanctions, rather than with more bloodshed, with the goal and result of ending the Russian capacity to wage war, both now and for the foreseeable future. However, it seems like there is still a long way to go. Historically, there have been countries that have managed to carry on in much worse conditions than currently exist in Russia, examples being Germany in 1923, Zimbabwe in 2008, and Venezuela in 2019.

No sanctions must be lifted until Russia has left every square meter of Ukraine.
FFS

They are only sanctioning themselves and hurting their own people. 10 times more expensive energy in the UK
Why put interest rates at nearly 30% when inflation is just 10% officially? That makes no sense. The real inflation musst be MUCH higher.
Success for Ukraine? Ukraine is ruined economically.
I doubt Putin is entertaining a realistic ceasefire. He will only come to the table when the Russia army is no more, like the Nazi.

Russia can begin to print 🖨 rubble faster. So, the Russians need a wheelbarrow or a pickup truck when they want to buy bread. 😊
Russia has no deficit, it is in budget surplus, despite being at war. It borrows only just over 30 % of GDP. USA, EU and UK are borrowing 100% - 150 % of GDP and are at risk of bankruptcy and currency collapse.
UK and USA are the kings of money printing and helicopter money
If uk and us print money faster snt it better to convert currencysooner?

So the real inflation rate in Russia should be closer to 20%
Seems like the master strategist has painted himself into a corner.
Putin only thinks he is a master stragist. Given he has got every decision wrong since the start of his ego driven war he is nothing short of a complete narcissist pic basket case 🎉
OR backed his economy up to the edge of a cliff.
"Chessplayer. Always thinks 20 moves ahead."

Who on earth would invest to Russian government's 10-year bonds?? I mean really? I'm all for Ukraine's victory, but I do believe this "Russia is on the brink of collapse" narritive we've been hearing for years now is overexaggerated. And if it isn't exaggerated now, it most certainly was years ago!
even if it never collapses, it's had so much of its power and income removed it will never be the world player it once was, it's basically a junior partner to China now. it's economic development has been put back at least 30 years, and it's demographic is a ticking timebomb for it's economy. I predict Russia will not collapse before an agreement is made, but it will collapse from internal economic shear stress about a decade from now.

@@mw01908nope, Russia prints money like crazy but their books are closed, they just don’t bother with deficit accounting they simply print the money and pay for stuff. Besides that deficits have nothing to do with anything, the only countries that can run a surplus are dirt poor countries where their labor is exploited, not every country can run a surplus (do the math).
