Hello I can’t seem to find the right amount of resistance for the input gear so was just wondering if you would be able to tell me

What are the typical signs of LT230 wear. I've recently replaced my UJs but still have a vibration under acceleration at speed.

Can this be done in the vehicle?

Hello, can you tell, are there any diferences between IEH500010 and FTC4850 input gears, because catalogue says, that they are the the same item, but the price deffers more than 2 times. Which one i should use for disco 2.
    Thanks in advance!

had a buggered front diff a while ago . in the mean time though i have taken of the inspection plate on the transfer box and found a brass chip ( very small and just one ) would that be the collapsible spacer ?
also some lift on the front drive shaft flange within the transfer case
thank you for any who can give advice

You will most likely have long figured it out but but those would be thrust washers from within the center diff (x4 washers) that lunched themselves.

Such a useful video series, thanks for taking the time to show us this! I'm just putting a 1.2 ratio LT230 into my 90, do you have any experience of Ashcroft's 4-pin or ATB centre diff? Thanks very much! Club86~Fred

We worship the ground that Ashcroft walks upon. Look for the LT230 rebuild series on my channel and you will see the 4 pin diff pin fitted. The box built is being used daily for towing and went to Norway with the owner.

Thanks so much for replying mate! Do Paddock do other sponsorship, or do you know if they'd be interested in an upcoming channel like ours? We're working on putting some videos out and would be using a lot of their stuff! Fred

If a spinning shell is the case, you can glue it with loctite. Source, onelonleyfarmer while working on a JD tractor.

You can, it is not the recomended way buy you can extend the life of a end of life gearbox.

hum, you choise your gearbox. Not something that i would do.

It is a get home solution, same as leather as main bearing material when the babbit material fails.

If you have no alternative yes. Problem is when a casing wars it could wear oval which means it will perhaps let the shaft . bearings and gears run untrue causing premature wear and component damage.

Land Rover Toolbox Video: Is the bad reputation about Land Rover's not-so-good reliability true, or false? Would you say that newer Land Rovers (2013 and later) are better built than older Land Rovers (2012 and previous).
Even better; If land rover has improved on reliability, What year did that took place?
The reason I am asking is because I have never owned Land Rovers, but I bought a house in the country and I need a good off-road vehicle; I went to our Land Rover dealer and I see that they still have a brand new 2013 land rover sport at a very discounted price, since it its 4 years old practically, but it is a 2013' with only 52 miles on the odometer.....I do not want a car that will give me maintenance problems beyond what it Is considered normal.
I would like to know from you, who have proven to know a lot about LR's with this videos. Would I be buying a reliable car if I bought that 2013 Land Rover Sport......It is reduced about 20 thousand dollars because it is so old, And I would like to take advantage of that offer......Don't know why it did not sell......oh! the only thing I did not like about the car are the rear seat....they are way more stiff than my Volvo's seats... thanks in advance.

I'd advice to get an independent inspection of the vehicle if you are interested in buying it.

WOW! I had not thought about it since it has been in the dealer all the time and it only has 52 miles, but you are right, if it hasn't selled must be for some reason....tips, anything you would be paying particular attention? and one last question: Which one do you think would be a better buy, the 2013 Range Rover Sport for $68,000 or the brand new 2017 Land Rover Discovery for $80,000; assuming the 2013 has no mechanical issues.

You never know the cheaper one may have finance issues attached with it or it was repo'd . I'd go for the one with the most warranty you can get in it unless you can get some sort of mechanical failure insurance for piece of mind.
I 'don't know what your technicians are like in the USA. but here in the UK I'd get a good all round technician who specialises in Pre Delivery Inspections to check over the vehicle including a plug in to check out the On Board ECUs and CAN linked systems. Friends of Friends who know about LRs may not be sufficient enough.
Can't imagine there would be an issue with a 3 year old vehicle mechanically. Remember new cars lose money the minute it drives off the forecourt for the first time.
I'd say if you are unsure then walk away and get something with the best warranties you can get.
