I watched your tutorial and proceeded to follow through with my fence. I'm pleased with the results. thanks so much for taking the time to post this video.
I've used this on vinyl siding and it worked great. Add a tablespoon or 2 of dish soap, it helps it stick a little better. Let it dwell a bit and rinse.
Geezzz social media can be awful, lol!!! I think you did great explaining what you did!!! THX😉!!! Now, my turn to do my fence🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️. Thanks for your idea!!!😏
I have never cleaned a fence before, but I kind of did the opposite. I cleaned the fence of 15 yrs with just my new power washer, a 15 degree nozzle and plain water, made it look like new again (I took my time). Then I went back and did a 1/3 bleach mixture and that evened out the blotchy spots, and I left it on for 20 min. It looks like new and is even .
Change from bleach to pool coloring both sodium hypochlorite as it’s a bit hotter - around 12% (Walmart’s version is 10%) in what I use vs 6% in concentrated Clorox (less in regular bleach) thus will go further. I’ll mix 8oz per gal if the crud is nasty and 6oz if not too bad. RINSE WELL and be careful of runoff into storm drains......
Chlorinating liquid is higher but less toxic than bleach, but they both seem to work. My HOA has 15 year old fence, so I may try both to see which works better?
Dude. Did ypu say 2 yrs old? It looks like by the fence and the style of the roof line of the house line that you are in Texas and yes the Texas sun and heat can be fence up pretty quick. Great video and great tips. One suggestion afterwards is applying a light coat of stain or a light code of sealant in this will help to protect the fence from graying and weathering so quickly in the future. Both of those techniques combine will make a fence last a lot longer than just having a fence installed and leaving it be without any kind of weather protection for cutting against the Texas Heat. Thanks again for the video keep them coming. I enjoy them!
Man, I spent 2 days pressure washing my deck. My best friend told me that I was an idiot, that I should spray it with bleach just like you did. I am headed to Walmart.
@@DarrenPauli please don’t put bleach on your deck. I own a deck restoration business and this is bad for the wood. Follow manufacturer instructions on your stain/sealer so you don’t ruin the wood fibers.
It would work better if he would do smooth long strokes with sprayer instead of "wiggling" the wand. That's what causing uneven results. This process also works for black streaks on roof. Add a little dish soap to mixture and shoot it up there with a water cannon
I've always just sanded it back down then used Thompson's on it, not sure how the bleach will react with water treatment after it is all dry and ready for weather proofing.
are you saying that instead of this bleach method, that you just sanded your wood fence down, and cleaned off the mold that way? I didn't know that could be done. Thanks in advance.
Hiya i am looking for easy ideas to clean my fence which is red stained. The fence is worn and has some green moss on it (i moved in recently) and i wanted a a idea to to clean it. If i bleach it can i stain it after?? If so how long should i leave it?? Thanks
Generally restraining isnt a problem, but be aware that it may not come out even since the fence is worn. Softer areas of the wood absorb stain differently than more solid areas. Also the areas who have the most stain still on them may look different than the bare worn places that are gonna absorb more new stain. As far as wait time between cleaning and staining, I'd wait a few days to make sure its thoroughly dry. Make sure you rinse well after cleaning.
For me that fence looked okay as it was, just silvered which happens to wood over time. If it was a north facing fence covered in green algae, sure, bleach it but I think the weathered silver finish looks nice and natural. Just my personal preference. Good vid. though.
Good video. I wish you had mentioned the NEXT step! This isn't the end. The smart thing would be to PREVENT the fence from going back to what it looked like before, right?
@@sweetbabysean I actually started a fence restoration and staining business after watching a bunch of videos, this one included. And it doesn’t! I have done over 20 homes and that has never been a problem. I have heard that if you power wash then it goes through and you can see it on the other side
A good power wash at the end. Make sure you let your neighbors know before you start to avoid arguments about someone in the yard or something getting ruined by bleach or cleaning solutions.
@@TucaMotonTV12 So I came up with my own method that seems to work but very very tedious and alot of work. I brushed one coat of paint stripper and scrubbed it off with a brush and hosed it down.
I am no whizz, thanks for the video...edit this and use the fast forward option through the mixing process. Not being a douche, I like this technique and will use. Thanks
He said a 25% bleach mixture, but Wal-Mart has bleach ranging from 5.25% to 8.25%, so no, his mixture is off, but that bleach is crap anyway. 1 part bleach to 3 parts water and skip to 3:45 for the bleach in action.

One of the only videos you actually see the bleach working. 👍🏻
Yeah, I tried bleach too and it did nothing.
Respray the fence with water prior to bleaching. It works a lot better.

Thanks, this worked out nicely for me.
Thx! Love the low cost. Going to try it. : )
Looks awesome 🙌
Dude. I love your solution. Thank you for this video. You saved me a lot of money and time.
This would work on wood decks too, but pressure washing is the most common method. Follow that with Thompson's Water Seal.
Great video! Thanks
Great info, thank you!
I do this to my fence but I add dish washing soap and works faster and cleaner
Thanks. Worked great 👍. Saved me time and money. 😊
Thank you very much !!

Per gallon? Like 6oz of chlorine per gallon of water? Ty in advance off to clean my fence.
Thanks for this video! Very helpful!!👍
Thanks man!
How did you change the spray handle? I have one of those that You have but I can’t seem to change mine.
Thank you
Thank you this will save me some money. I recommend wearing crappy shoes. My luck I’ll bleach my shoes
thanks nice tip, might try bottom to top to wet,and top down to rinse.
Great Idea thanks for the help.
How long does the fence stay clean for?
Thanks brother, worked for me just like your video..Cheers!!!
Super great video! You saved me $150.00 yo clean my fence! Thanks.
Looks great. I've read bleach is not good for wood though. Hows it holding up..
thanks!
Wow thanks.
Big improvement!
Put the water in first to stop it from foaming up.

Great video, but if i could make a recommendation for the future... you could have edited out the long process of filling up the sprayer.
Nice
Cool

Brian Alexander I would be very impressed with your detective work hadn't he worn a Texans cap.
I add Dawn to my bleach and grass was fine. Fence looked new.
Be extremely careful what you mix with bleach. Certain soaps will cause an aggressive chem reaction and crazy heat and even fire.
@@TurboHommy that doesn't sound chemically correct...but dawn is non-reactive.
@@douglasharley2440 ok well you just keep mixing random stuff and see what happens lol
Great work. I'm curious, would it help more if I took a brush or broom or something like that to rub it on the cedar? The bleach works wonders though
I dont know about that might pop back on your face or clothes .
Looks good!
GO TEXANS! I saw the hat.

A very nice polkadot fence
Great job!!
Tip of the day: wear a mask, protection glasses and old clothes when doing this with bleach.
Hello will this work im a fence that started to rot out dry rot?
nice vid good info, i see its a couple years old, did the bleach hurt the wood at all or any side effects you didnt expect, might try this on mine

Anthony E. Idealistic Woodworks and Drone reviews it won't hurt it
Sure this works i did this noo different any suggestion ???
Add water then bleach. No foaming.
Also wet fence first
I used white vinegar
Thanks for the video.
Just curious what this does to your grass around this area when bleach and water run off?
Turn it white 😂
My question is. If I do this will I be able to stain said fence after I apply, how long do I have to wait if I do?
Yes you can stain it after it completely dries. A few days to a week should be plenty time.
Looks good

Question, does it ever leak through and bleach the other side of the fence?
Oh I bet it does

I was wondering the same thing Brian.
Im on the fence on this one !

Half-ass job
Good fences make good neighbors.
Good video and demonstration. "Looks better" is subjective. Because some people prefer the grey look. But I understand what you are saying.
Love your project. I made similar with WoodPrix instructions.
If you use bleach to CLEAN your fence you have to power wash the fence within 2 minutes and stain the fence
Why , thanks
How come it didnt work for me? The fence is still grey.
I want to know. I didnt work for me either. My fence still gray

Its cheaper than power washing it , cause that water bill when it comes is more than 25

Not really cleaning as much as bleaching out and destroying wood cellulouse.
