  • Hall of Fame heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon explain their regret for not getting a second or third opinion before stepping into major neck surgery in 2019. Ozzy calls his 2019 surgeon “insane” and says death would have been a welcomed gift amidst prolonged post-surgery pains, while Sharon lets us in on the emotional toll felt by the entire Osbourne family. She - alongside others in the Osbourne family - tried to wean Ozzy off of a regimen of 60-70 painkillers and prescribed medicines. [Filmed September 2021]

Or maybe because he has so much money, they do all the useless operations just to get the money even if its not in the person's best interest? I mean how many celebrities do you hear of getting so many medications which do more harm than good only because they have the money? I think a lot of medics especially in the US seem to just give whatever the patient wants even if it's of no help and causes lots of illness and even death, but they keep dishing it out and take millions of dollars from their clients, they just want the money and seem to have no ethics as humans and certainly no medical ethics!

Until you have a real medical crisis you cannot fathom the horror of it. Uncaring doctors, endless waits for appointments, the cost,. You are treated like a commodity once in the medical system. They will cattle chute you for all the tests they can and profit they can get out of you then cast you adrift. Truth.

It’s beyond crazy how Dr’s can be so eager to do their surgery or other treatments on you, but when they mess it up, they just wash their hands of you and that’s that for them. Infuriating. Same goes for all the people you know who told you to “Go get that done! What have you got to lose?” It’s hard to imagine at the time but things can get a whole lot worse! I had the same exact thing happen. Never had back or leg pain in my life. A surgeon said my spine at my neck looked like gravel and I could be paralyzed if I fell or was in an accident. So I had a neck fusion and came out miserable with pain in my lower back and all the way down my left leg. Several surgeries later, trying to figure out where the nerves impended, no surgeon can figure it out. I stay in pain constantly. I even got a nerve stimulator implanted. I’d give anything to find a dr who could fix it. It really sux to hurt all the time 😢

Graham thanks so much for this post on Ozzys neck drama.
I was in a puddle of tears watching this because like Ozzy I had this same operation
April of 2020. I call it the day my life ended.
I got told almost verbatim the same thing Ozzy got told "You need the surgery because you will be paralyzed if you should fall the fluid in your spine has narrowed eventually you will have not control over your bowels and you will not be able to function" At the time I some tingling in my hand light.
At the time of my initial appointment I was working 2 jobs and volunteering and playing pickleball. I was extremely active and always on the go. My neck did not hurt at all it was just tingling in my hand.
I was scared to death but the doctor is the doctor. I did get a second opinion but from another surgeon and they wanted to do the same thing and kept referring to the original doctor. Because with insurance when you go to the 2nd doctor they see exactly what the first doctor said.
I was never confident in the doctor he was bully, but was continually told he was the best I tried to cancel the surgery a few days before and the doctor started screaming at me he would put in my medical record that I refused his medical advice. His tone and attitude were you will never get this fixed if I put this on your medical record. So like a fool I went ahead and had the surgery. When in the moment is different then looking outside.
The exact same nightmare which I am still in of pain and not being able to function. Every time I would take this up with the doctor they acted like I was crazy. They said "Its so unusual for patients to be any pain after the operation and don't bother making an appointment until a year from surgery. " So they make you feel like its your fault you did something wrong.
I too feel like a burden can't work can't function around the home. My neck is constantly in pain and like Ozzy I can only hold my head up for so long. I have done physical therapy, massage, acupuncture and pain clinic nothing really helps. I can't believe what a whisper of a person I used to be.
I can't afford to go the Mayo Clinic but I certainly don't begrudge being able to. Did Ozzy ever get any relief did they do another surgery I can't tell from the interview. If you could reply that would be so great. Any silver of help would be appreciated.

I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. My spine was very narrow. My Dr. said if I didn't have the surgery I would be paralyzed, if I fall or in a accident. I believed him. He said I would go home the same day. My surgery started at 5.30 in the morning till 7.30 at night. The next morning when I woke up I saw that I couldn't move from my neck down. I was Paralyzed from my neck down, I couldn't move my hands or my legs. My Dr. said I will get better slowly. I was in the ICU for a month, in the rehab for 2 months. I had to learn how to Walk again. It has been 6 years, I am still paralyzed with a lot of pain, burning, stabbing, numbness, pins and needles you name it I have it. No meds takes the pain away, 24 hrs in pain. I rely on everyone to do everything for me, I use to do everything by myself. The Dr says it will get worse, but I keep trying to do as much as I can. Only God knows the outcome. I keep trying.

@@deniselebeau9874 I had platelet rich plasma and it has helped my spinal condition - also use of posture pumps. Things that the majority of doctors don't talk about. I learned in my early twenties not to blindly trust - after a doctor made a horrible "mistake" and operated on the wrong thing. I know without holistic healthcare contacts and some money it can be literally deadly to have an otherwise treatable bout or condition. Do take care and may everyone here pray for you.

My dad reminds me of him. He had a car crash and had to deal with neck injuries. He was so out of it all the time until he passed. His doctors put him on so many painkillers, he got hooked. They knew of my dads past substance abuse issues, but nope they prescribed him heavy duty meds. I tried to get him into weed to ween him off the meds. He would always take the pills before weed. He passed 3 years ago from an overdose, I found him. Only 63. Brutal times for me

I feel with Ozzy. They messed up my mother´s spine in hospital badly, too - not by a bad surgery, but by the oldest and most uncomfortable hospital bed I´ve seen in my entire life and that she had to use for almost a week. Which resulted in a bad case of disc hernia. I will never forget the look of agonizing pain on her pale face, bathed in cold sweat. It took her weeks before she could sit up again, and months before she could walk again relatively free from pain.

Nothing else like it or like him. # generation's of my family love him, 2 have seen him and I have seen him with Sabbath, Blizzard of Oz and the last show he did on no more tours. Zak Wylde took over and went through the audience playing and leaving us in awe as Ozzy disappeared behind the curtain for a while. I too have a neck so bad that the #4 Neck surgeon called it toast. He wouldn't operate and I suffer tremendously but he knew it wouldn't help. Ya play, ya pay! I love you Ozzy and the world we definitely be a smaller place without you! Praying for you and yours.

Ozzy as a lifelong Artist, has a Need to create and to Perform. Most Artists do. Especially when they’ve performed as long as he has. My Dad was a multi-talented artist and had an almost compulsion to create. If he didn’t make something for a while he started to feel physically unwell. It’s a thirst an artist must quench.

To hear that this was caused by an unnecessary elective surgery is horrendous. The amazing over prescription of drugs is something that many people with loved ones know about all to well. I had a doctor tell me how great my wife's tests were when the medication he had her on, had made her bedridden. I wanted to break every bone in his pretty face, when he smiled at me about those tests. We got her off that medicine and I got my wife back, moving around on her own. I never looked at doctors the same again. I am always grateful for the pains God gives me because men can sure fxxx people up way worse than God would ever try to do. I hope Ozzy gets a break with his new doctors and these new neck appliances he has in his neck, but we need to say a prayer for the old fella. No matter what happens, I wish Ozzy and Sharon the best.
