Songs for the Soul - Tonantzin (Aztec Mother Goddess)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 сен 2024
- This song is dedicated to my Mexican sister Ori with whom I have spent moments of joy and bliss in the Sacred Valley, Peru. Tonantzin is in Aztec tradition the Great Mother Goddess who bestows life on people with her abundance and generosity. With this powerful song I honor the Great Mother of the Creation of whom Tonanzin is yet another venerable aspect.
I really want to honor my aztec warrior ancestors by learning Nahuatl and embracing my indigenous blood.
Me too, I just bought a book to learn Nahuatl ^-^
@@kimmed2527 nice, I recently bought a book and im getting there.
@@kimmed2527 what book are you using? Looking for recommendations to start
Do it bro! Im learning, i had learned a bit when i was a teenager through a beautiful Aztec woman, but alas in the land of the gabacho there is no one to speak with

I'm so amazed and shocked my grandpa gave me this name
U blessed
So lucky!! I was given a Spanish name 😔
Lucky!
If I have a daughter, I plan on naming her Tonantzin
@MFG EK408 to old for all that now lol. Next life if i have to come back
Woooow that's amazing👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
IPALNEMOHUANI(we´re all one, unity)I
NOYOLOTL TATZIN(heart on vibration)
TLAZOKAMATLI(I love you, thank you)
TONANTZIN (Mother Earth)
HUEY TONANTZIN(GREAT MOTHER EARTH)
Yay lyrics 😁❤️
That's more of an interpretation than a translation, mind you.
The first line IPALNEMOHUANI doesn't mean "we´re all one, unity" but rather "by her grace (ipal) we all live (nemohuani)"
Last line TONANTZIN doesn't really say "Mother Earth" but rather "Our Dear Mother (to-nan-tzin) ", more literally "Our Little Dear Mother" where the "tzin" is diminutive form to express reverence and closeness.
@@joe_cortezit doesn’t sound like “noyolotl tatzin” either, but “noyolotl paqui” instead.
I wish I could connect to my Aztec roots, I just don’t know how.
Hi! I’m trying to do the same. I got a book to learn nahuatl and I’ve been looking up what I can on our ancestors.
Edguar Morales I’ll have to look that up then.
Me as well!
Same
Start off with looking into the Mexica. What their actual non-anglo given name of the extensive population.just knowing history and then finding roots of our own holidays even being latino a lot of it is mixed in
Respect from Poland my Mexica brothers and sisters. The colonizers can't hold back our cultures forever. They're in our blood.
Thank you for showing your respects to our cultura. Respects to Poland brother
HELL YEAH! my polish only you could understand the oppression.
✊🏼✊🏼

Tlaskamati.
The Aztec language should become the national language of Mexico. Due to the Aztecs historically being the most dominant people who helped to build Mexican society into what it is today. So that a part of the people's cultural identity can make them feel whole within their own country. I myself am a proud Mexican American and there's so much I want to know about my ancestors.
Agreed! I’m half Mexican however I have a lot of pride for my Mexica heritage. The Spanish language is European therefore it’s a colonization language. I’m learning Nahuatl before I learn Spanish.
@@zackarylinville5345 How are you half Mexican?? You're either Mexican or not.
@@DeepThinker_6597 Lol I’m Mexican and white therefore I’m half Mexican and half white.
@@zackarylinville5345 Mexican is not a race or ethnicity it's a nationality.
@@zackarylinville5345 You say your Mexican? show me your papers then
You helped me learn the song, I've shared it in sweat lodge, and will be singing it for Indigenous Voices in Nahuatl, Spanish and English
Wow. Amazing!
so kraftvoll. beim aussprechen von tonantzin fange ich sofort an zu weinen. danke liebe victoria
You feel this in your bones QUEEN'S
Why does this move my heart, like if i feel sorrow almost.
Hello Jose, thak you very much. Sometimes our heart wants to let go of the sorrow that comes to the surfce when the heart is touched :)
a past life as an Aztec? :)
@@CherryBerryFashion I was told by an aztec dancer that these songs are not learned by our people, but remembered. That gave me goosebumps once he told me. He also said, we may be far gone from our roots but it doesn't mean they're gone. The blood of the aztecs and mexica ppl still grows through us.
What a beautiful voice 😍
Thank you very much for your kind words!
Thank you RUclipsrs for this unexpected success of my version of the song Tonatzin. It has the most views and likes of all of my songs! There have been some criticism that I sing Wee Tonantzin and not Huey Tonatzin. My appologies, I hope it will not offend your fine ears. I have learned to sing it like that from my mexican friend Oriana. Please excuse this negligence. May you listen to my version with your warm and loving heart and not with your critical mind. Aho!
No worries. There seems to be a lot of ignorance within my community when it comes to the Mexica people and indigenous languages. There are different "dialects" of Nahuatl. In fact they could be classified as entirely different languages as they are not mutually intelligible but are similar enough to be classified within the same language family. Similar to how Romance languages sound similar and may even share some phonetic and gramatic similarities but are not dialects, or pidgeon nor creoles, but actual languages. Given the immense Aztec empire and the regional differences in Mexico, as well as the melding of other conquered tribes (and their languages), then there are bound to be differences in pronunciation. This is not mutually exclusive to indigenous languages but to all languages around the world.
Much love
Either way this speaks to my soul ❤️
Your interpretation was great. The pronounciation is secondary to the Soul in your voice. Those of us whom had the privilege to hear and observe this live appreciate your rendition.
Thank you very much, you beautiful people. I am very touched!
I listened your song years ago an it was nice
Dankeschön, das ist ein sehr tolles Liedgut!
Literally I just came inside my house after grounding outside on the frosted grass thanking my Mother Earth and Sun light for their energy and grace❄️🦁🔥 then this beautiful video came up 😀Synchronicity, thank you!

This is absolutely beautiful! Praise to Coatlicue, the mother goddess!
I love the Nahuatl language. It’s beautiful and powerful at the same time.

That’s sent waves of energy thru my whole body. Bless the goddess. Bless our people.
Thanks for sharing my friend...🙏
i feel power in this song, like i have never felt before it speaks to my heart and soul.
I’m Christian but this song makes me feel like life is awesome, and I respect the religion
Religion lmfaoooo this ain't religion homeboy this is traditional spiritual guidance foo something your controlling religion hates
Aztecs was made by the fallen angels to create division and doubt to those who don't believe that we are from one God Believe me or not so in reality not being religious but honest everyone looks up when they are in need but not everyone is honestly being honest with themselves always judging over comments, and race ,religion, politics, tribe, and a lot more than I want to write just ta let anyone know ✌️
@@3cabrones77 hell yeah Santa muerte even says we all come from one if you pay attention closely everything is the same every religion is the same just different styles and different ways of doing it
thank you and love you from wherever you are.. I'm Ori too
Wow! I’m speechless! I love it!!
Thank you 🙏🏽🔥
Einzigartig. Geht durch Mark und Bein.
Thank you for lending your voice to our culture. I can't say how accurate this song is or its historical significance since I'm not an expert by any means but I just want say I think you sounded beautiful.
I noticed you weren't Mexican yourself but just out of curiosity where are you from?
Beautiful song! Thank you! 😇💖🙏🙌
I like speaking Spanish, but when trump became president and all the crap we dealt with him and his followers!
I became more proud of being a Mexican and our ancestors!
And I wonder if we should go back to our ancestral languages, I know we also had tribes and we all didn't speak it, but almost all in The Mexica (Aztec) Empire spoke Nahuatl.
I believe the time has come for all of us to speak Nahuatl, once more!
@Illustratio are you also mexican?
Its time for those living in occupied northern mexico to realize who we are we have the blood of Cuauhtémoc and christ
@@colonelmustang3202 Not really Christ
So you’re not mad that the Spanish conquered Mexico which is why the majority no longer carried the Nahuatl traditions? If you weren’t born in Mexico you are not Mexican. You’re blaming Trump over the media’s narrative? Hahaha!!
@@texanboiii562Texan boy, a person does not need to be born in Mexico to be Mexican. That’s not how nationalities work, do some basic research. Also, do try and stay in your lane.
