Can you imagine if someone could reestablish the right of way of the canal? Putting it back in working order with today's heavy machinery probably wouldn't even be a big deal. It isn't like you would have to dig it by hand with wheelbarrows again. Even a small mini excavator could probably do a sizeable amount each day. Many of those locks you are finding wouldn't take much to put the masonry back in order. What a tourist attraction that would be. That lovely brick warehouse you found would make a great restaurant and pub for tourists. If you could rent a narrowboat for a weekend, and tour from one town to another, what a trip that would be.

I’m curious as to how the mules were cared for. I assume that there was room somewhere in the canal boat to store grain to feed the animals. Seems like a life of hard work for the poor creatures but perhaps easier than plowing on a farm.
