- S1E19: In this episode, we finally move into our bus! And since we just rebuilt our engine, we take her out on a road trip down south and over the Lindis Pass, to pick up our new wood burner, and to shake out any potential issues.
We are doing a house bus conversion! After the COVID 19 pandemic put an end to our epic hiking expedition across the world we returned home to New Zealand to build a tiny off-grid home on wheels. Follow the transformation of our 1984 Isuzu JRC500 school bus, an NZ skoolie. It is going to be epic!

LOL... yeah... 😂
Loving watching the transformation and the channel 👍
Thanks a lot! :)
I've been watching you guys since the beginning of your build. Your videos have been great. I'm picking up my short bus in 2 weeks and then I'll start demo and building. See how I said short bus, it'll be a lot easier to handle on forest roads and out of the way places. You have some skills pulling out of your driveway. Congratulations on getting on the road. Stay safe
Thank you! Best of luck on your bus conversion! Enjoy the ride!
I just did the bus conversion omnibus in one sitting... now it is 2am! That was very impressive and inspiring. Amazing job. The beer is on me if I ever see you in Christchurch :)

Hey guys congratulations on finishing your amazing motor home rebuild. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
What was the final figure amount for conversion including the purchase of the bus?
Enjoy your new adventures 😊
I would love to know this aswell to see if I can fit a nice bus in my budget
Hay hi lovely job people do you stil have the bus im looking at buying a bus if ur selling it i like how you hun the bus rock on
Thanks! :) No plans on selling at this time.
How do you reckon this'd go through a south island winter? My family's been in Arrowtown since about 1890 and winters have become family folklore. We've got a 40ft. motorhome conversion happening here in Brisbane, Qld.
She’ll be alright. That new wood burner will keep us warm! We have insulated, and will insulate to floor too from underneath before winter. :)
Looks great! In an earlier episode you picked up a second hand multi fuel burner, what made you decide to go with the wood burner?
Ah well...we really liked it, but ultimately decided it was a wee bit too big and heavy for the bus. So we sold it on. 😊
... of course it is "she" 😊
Yes... of course. 😉👍
Hey guys!! This is so cool! Just binge watched all your videos 🤩
We are currently building our Volvo B10M in Cromwell and have a Roaring Meg fire too - John Paul is a mate of ours!
Your plans sound epic and we are hoping to buy land and do the same, we may end up on the coast too, some good sections over there! We are on Instagram the_freedom_project_nz 😄😄😄😄
