    I lost my way on Fromme last summer and ended up going “up” the Skull (pushed the whole way obviously) and then down Lower Ladies (still pushed most of the way lol!) and crashed on the Monster coaster because I didn’t carry enough speed to get over the second hill. Those trails are no joke and truly for experts only.

    I feel, like you, Dale and Dave should have a Bike-Olympics: You each get to choose a trail to race on, approx. the same length; then also add a pumptrack, trials, skate bowl/street run, and a park DH lap. Overall winner gets to be King Of Kings? 😄

    Your tech skills has progressed very quickly. I can only imagine how much janky it is in person.
    I wonder what ya'll 's building technique is to preserve the wood feature's foundation in such wet weather climate. Here in FL some of the wood used rots quickly depending on which trail system you ride but mostly affects heavily on coastal areas. (obviously)

      The trick is to use the right species. Cedar lasts by far the longest in this climate, hemlock rots quickest

    With all due respect, maybe mellow out a bit on the "jank" comments? This trail (and many of the other historic trails on the North Shore Shore) are not jank. They are just original, well used, largely natural, AMAZING trails that helped craft the sport that we all enjoy now, in all of its different forms. Trails like Bookwus have largely been maintained as close to what they were when first opened for good reasons. History, raw challenge, and to keep variety and spice alive and kicking for all riders to enjoy.
    You guys came to Fromme that day to show your buddy the classic, original lines on the North Shore that basically started the sport. Respect those rooty, slippery, steep, and occasionally desperate lines for what they are. Repeatedly describing them as jank takes away from the amazing videos you guys create. Not every trail is smooth, groomed, and flowy. Nor should they be in my opinion.
    Apologies for the rant and sounding like an old man. But I am, and I wouldn't trade these masterpieces of "jank" for anything! 😊

      @DaleStone 6 месяцев назад +3

      "Janky - A super awkward or rough bit of trail." [lynettedeaconmtb.com/2021/05/30/a-dictionary-guide-to-trail-features/]
      Bookwus is janky. We like Bookwus. Therefore we like janky trails; we wouldn't choose to ride 'em if we didn't! 🙂

    • @HumanExternalCargo
      @HumanExternalCargo 6 месяцев назад

      I understand the definition. Unfortunately, many people of the younger generation do not. The term jank, when used to describe trails these days, is almost always understood as a derogatory term.
      Only my opinion of course. 😊
