The piece on the front of the train is called a cow catcher. It is a metal frame on the front of a locomotive meant for pushing cattle or other heavy objects out of the way.

That piece on the train is a cow catcher. It would push cows and anything else off the tracks so the train wouldn't run over it.

i am continually amazed at your painting skills. you make the detailed painting look so easy. 🥰 do you like your paint pens? i forget what kind i have but mine just seem sooooo dry 😂 and the puff paint....hobby lobby only had a small bottle and it was like $3 or something like that. it really gives it a nice look! i hadn't thought about using the straws as candy canes. really genius!
