Ok so apparently Supergirl was confirmed to appear some time ago and I just never caught that. About a dozen of you have informed me of this, so if that's what you're about to comment you need not worry, it's been covered.
Man of Steel came out in 2013. This movie is its 10 year anniversary. Actually quite poetic. This feels like DC's version of No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness. Multiverse variants and nostalgia actors. The problem is they didn't make a solid foundation before making a multiverse story.
No, supergirl was part of this from the beginning, she was announced in the first fandome if i remember correctly. Hope we can keep her if she is well liked.
I will explain the situation. Supergirl was not part of the orginal script. It was Cyborg and more Snyderverse cast were to be involved. After the Ray Fisher situation, they changed things and included Supergirl. So you are not completely wrong. They did have a different script but it was switched.
Supergirl was always in the movie. There are set photos from years ago. From what a lot of leakers and scoopers are saying without spoiling it apparently the only thing Gunn has changed about this movie is the ending
I agree that the “two Barrys” thing seems like a setup for one of them to be the villain. And the scene in the trailer that is apparently them meeting feels like a foreshadow: that it’s going to turn out the clean-cut Barry is actually someone else in disguise as him-someone who _has_ stolen his face. Presumably Thawne, Zoom, or one of the other “reverse flash” characters. Particularly since it seems like most of the other recurring characters don’t look the same in alternate universes, so it’s kinda odd that Barry _does_ - though Zod apparently is the same, too, so maybe it’s just the ones we see in this trailer (where they want to tease the returning actors).
I will probably watch this, personally haven't really enjoyed much of the DCU but Keaton's Batman is gonna be the main draw for me, Batman Returns still stands as the most memorable batman media to make it to the big screen imo.
Supergirl has been part of it for over a year at least. I remember seeing promo images of this actress and all before Ezra Miller’s issues even started getting attention more recently.
From watching Star Trek, the alt-timeline stories that work well have something that carries over into the main timeline. That's often just learning something about the character(s) or the characters learning something about themselves. When it doesn't do that, it's pretty throwaway.
Also, funny thing about rewatching the Keaton Batman movies is that that version of Batman really isn't the hyper-competent super-ninja we're used to seeing from other iterations of the character; he's a competent brawler with gadgets, armor, and theatrical scare tactics to give him an edge, but he frequently gets in over his head and has to scramble to snatch victory against henchmen who are bigger/stronger/outnumber him. It's hard to imagine him keeping up with Justice League level threats. Yet this trailer seems to indicate otherwise (obviously with a cgi stunt double in the bat suit during the action scenes, but still...)
You're right, it's an entirely different genre of movie and acting. This might be compared more to Spiderverse (than No Way Home), where the different characters came from different genres. (Keaton also throws a guy into a sewer and throws a grenade after him 😆That would be lethal in modern movies, but Keaton's Batman had more cartoon logic.) And this has always been Batman's issue, is he a theatrical ninja detective with gadgets fighting crime, or is he an armored supersoldier with scifi jets fighting aliens. His two aspects really clash
@@HotDogTimeMachine385 Exactly, though the discrepancy REALLY sticks out with Keaton. Like, Bale's Batman inhabited a more grounded world, though it's not really a stretch for me to imagine him adapting to keep up with the Justice League. Keaton's another matter, based on the apparent limitations of his capabilities, based on the two films he got, yet here we are.
Supergirl in this film is based loosely on Lara Lane Kent, Superman's Daughter from the Injustice graphic novel tie in to Convergence, where on Batman kills the Joker saving Superman's legacy and he has a daughter with Lois
Since it's seems to be an adaptation of Flashpoint, that's probably going to be pretty much the case. but while Turn Left was completely undone at the end (Rose was already multiverse travelling & her meeting Donna was a dash of luck with a lot of Caan's influencing of timelines factoring in, & technically wasn't undone, since she (Rose) remembered), Flashpoint (at least the comic- being honest havent seen Arrowverse version) had consequences/changes that stuck after the things that changed during the story got changed back. Since this is the last 'Synder DCU' film before the 'Gunn DCU' kinda makes sense to do Flashpoint as the Infinity War/Endgame(technically the finale but with films and/or TV shows, still coming afterwards) of the thing. So guess, The Flash (as in the film), could end up being Turn Left meets the end of Back To The Future 1.
Never been much of a Flash fan so I'll probably save the 20 quid cinema ticket and it watch on telly when it's come up to rent. That said it had got the best Batman of the lot for me, so I'll leave the final decision until the spoiler-free reviews are in.
i'm on the same boat as you are on what I feel on the movie's.. production issues, but muschietti looks to be doing a great job with what he's given. the action sequences look fun and it's kind of cool to have this be a send-up of the snyder-era dceu.
I think the reason this trailer is one of the best DC has put out is probably because they are nervous going in.... so they have made a trailer full of stuff to draw you in... by focusing on Keaton particularly... I bet if they weren't in the position they are in right now with this movie..... keaton would hardly have featured at all.... it would have been held back until the film came out...... but they desperately need a positive hook..... and keaton...is a pretty big hook.
Heh: unless you set it up, the ad algorithm is being very clever: _immediately_ after you said “so, let’s take a look”, but _before_ you started playing the trailer picture-in-picture, I was served the full Flash trailer as an ad. It was such a seamless cut and perfect timing that I was more than half-way through the trailer before I noticed.
Can't speak for others but here's where I'm at: I would still very much like to see them removed from future projects as The Flash, if only to allow them to better pursue their own health. And if that were to be confirmed I'd be more likely to watch this in theaters as a sign off on that version of the character. What it looks like is happening though is that if the film is successful enough Miller might be kept on for more films and I'm not really comfortable being party to that.
I'm only seeing this for Keaton. Returns is still my favourite Batman movie of all time and he is MY Batman. Couldn't care less about Zod, Flash , Batfleck or Man Of Steel flashbacks.
I'm pretty sure this will be it for Ezra Miller after this movie. It seems like James Gunn is just clearing out the rest of the DCEU Slate before moving onto his projects
A good filmmaker can make us care for Barry's mom in the first 10 minutes of the movie. I hope Andy Muschietti is able to do that. For the rest, I hope they are keeping this Kara, becauseI think she looks amazing and seeing Keaton was the highlight of the trailer for me. I was not interested in watching this movie, but now I'm sold!
Supergirl was intended even under Snyder however they cannot cancel her contracts for multiple films without her royalties for the rest of her life. Keaton will also be in multiple films so that they do not have to pay him royalties forever also.
The trailer u showed isn’t the actual one aired during the game cause that trailer had a Keaton batmobile reveal scene in it where a Barry pulls a sheet off the car revealing it’s Keaton’s version of the batmobile and I can understand if the original version of the movie had Henry in it as the kryptoian being experimented on by the government them switching to Kara to not having James’ Superman casted yet to me by the look of Keaton’s batsuit he isn’t playing Bruce but actually Thomas Wayne who became Batman in the alternate timeline
I think for this movie, I'll live vicariously through others. I'll watch reviews, break-downs, easter egg vids, but I'm not going to be watching this in theaters. I'll might watch it once it drops on HBO though. Depends on the reviews.
It's a Last Hurrah now. The post-production additions must be massive and throbbing. EDIT: She's a dead woman in relation to a superhero. She is a perfect ageless goddess figure who will die for Barry's and our sins. What more do you need?
They'll make us invested in the fate of Barry's mum by revealing she's called... Martha! Not going to spend money on this, might check it out on streaming (just like Black Adam)
Wohooo Fantastic cool movie amazing surprise The Flash two Batman Michael Keaton & Ben Affleck, General ZOD With Sasha Calle Kara Zor El Supergirl finally appeared yeaaah
By the looks of that trailer I get a bad feeling that they've crammed way too much stuff into one film. Two flashes, Batman, Supergirl, end of the universe... That's A LOT going on.
To me it feels like flashpoint but some things tweaked like supergirl being in it instead of Superman and Barry interacting with himself but I don’t need it to be almost a panel for panel recreation of the comic I just like knowing I can tell they are doing the comic storyline the movie is pulling from unlike civil war that felt more like iron man vs captain America dawn of justice out of marvel being scared of Batman vs Superman
"It's more promising than I thought it would be" - my exact thoughts after seeing this trailer. I had been aware of some of the big stunts for this (2 Barrys, Keaton & Batfleck, Supergirl), wasn't aware of Zod but it's a nice alternate to the Atlantis vs. Themyscira war (I assume that's the idea) based on what the DCEU had. I'm still not a fan of Ezra Miller's Flash (no, the Snyder Cut didn't give us a better Barry, at least Whedon's had a character arc for Barry, but both versions were annoying as hell) but this trailer at least...showed what could be a better version or simply cut the parts that will annoy me. I'm not as sold on the nostalgia bait of Keaton because (controversially) I don't really like his Batman but I do appreciate that others are happy with it - frankly, I preferred Kilmer but it was incredibly unlikely he'd be back for this. I mildly enjoy Flashpoint as I do like some alt-world stories, but it always had that weird "but why does Barry changing his mother's death change so much else" - something I could shrug off for a quick story (like the animated film adaptation) or if the themes and such resonate well, but it may bug me if I'm not otherwise distracted by a good film, so the idea of Barry actually messing up other events by interacting with them himself (rather than simply "ripples" from what he did) would be good. I don't remember Barry (in any version of JL) really talking about his mom, outside of the general reference to her death being the reason his dad's in prison, so I agree that aspect doesn't quite work, but I may be sold on it well enough so long as the writing and Ezra Miller's acting sells me - we'll see.
If I'm understanding correctly the original plan was to reboot the universe with Supergirl & Batgirl in lead roles. Superman would take a little break. Batman would get filled in by Keaton until they were ready to reboot. All that changed in the last couple years.
@@karazor-el9596 I didn't say that, no. i said the original plan for her to get a lead role has changed. That doesn't mean she won't get a lead role. It means it won't happen in the way it was going to before, where she essentially takes the place of Superman.

This trailer looks good, I don't know how to feel about it all but I imagine I'll just have to decide when it's in cinemas if I see it then or not
I've gone from interested in The Flash, to fairly uninterested after all the Ezra shenanigans and rumours of no Batmen being involved, to now when I'm genuinely looking forward to this. A lot of it is through seeing Affleck, Shannon and of course Keaton return and his "I'm Batman" but the rest is working for me too. Surely Zod is the villain? Although, Barry being the big bad works very well. The only thing that kinda disappoints is no Cavill but they could also be deliberately hiding him with Supergirl and he'll have a small role. I also think having Supergirl in this is how The Flash acts as a starting point for the Gunniverse, which Gunn has sais this is. All the previous films will be in their own universes and The Flash will effectively create a new one for Gunn to play with.
Keaton's Batman, I'm in, full stop! Just to see him in the suit on big screen again! The rest of the movie can be total BS but I got to see the real Batman!
Not really thrilled about Ezra Miller coming back as the Flash. I didn't watch Justice League, but the clips I saw didn't show me a very convincing portrayal of Barry Allen. Maybe Kid Flash, but not Barry Allen. Cautiously optimistic about this movie, but I'm more excited to see Michael Keaton's Batman in action again than anything else.
His portrayal was decent in the Snyder Cut of JL. I wouldn't recommend watching the other cut of the film for the Flash. Since it paints him in a really belittling and negative light.
Agree with you that the circumstances would have been a better villain. We'll see. As for parallel universes, I kind of mostly don't like those, because this trope is often abused in this genre and often it comes from the place of exhausting all the possible threat/villain options, every possible storyline, and only then the parallel universe comes in, and feels like a lazy solution often times, where nothing matters anymore, because in a parallel universe things are different
Crazy how they will give a kidnapper more clout like this. Cool Keaton is in it, but the film should be scrapped. Ezra doesn't deserve any money from it.
Supergirl is in an alt-timeline, right? So they could leave the character in the alt-timeline if they wanted to cast someone else. Narrative-wise, I think that works, but yeah, if the audience likes this actress in the role, that might not go over well
My favorite defenders of the film are the ones who say "A lot of totally innocent people other than Ezra worked on it." Oh, so I guess you watch literally every movie ever made? If not, how do you live with yourself?
To slightly repeat myself, it sounds like you are buying into the false narratives regarding Ezra Miller. While some questionable choices were clearly made, the spin has been absurd.
OK. So far I have neither been a fan at all of the DC universe movies (the ones I've seen) nor been excited about any of them. This one though... Might get me in a movie theater 😉
In the same way that Christian rock doesn't make Christianity cooler but instead makes rock music less cool, having Ezra Miller in this movie only ruins the stuff in the film which would otherwise be awesome. If they'd make both versions of the Flash the villain then I might by it but I can't take him playing a hero.
From what I can tell, supergirl was always in the movie - there were leaked set photos of her from years back. From what I know, I think the reshoots only changed the ending, likely so they could use flashpoint as a sort of reset button for the DCU.
I am not a fan of time travel/let's mess with history stuff either as a rule. I did like the Flash TV series for a while but it got too depressing and weird over time. I don't know what to think about this so far.
I really don't like this version of the Flash or Ezra Miller as an actor, but I'll watch this movie for Keaton's return because, seeing him back in the Batsuit with better movement while wearing the suit and cowl is something I've wanted to see since I first saw Batman and Batman Returns in the '90s. But as a movie, no, I'm not interested in it because there is no solid foundation for this film within the DC Universe.
It looks like NO WAY HOME for DC fans, only more batshit crazy, which...hey, I'm there for it. That said, it makes explicit that they've amplified a point of annoyance I had with, well, all three MCU Spider-Man movies, which is that our "superhero saving the day" is a dumb kid scrambling to clean up his own mess.
I loathe Flashpoint. The original story. It was nonsense. I was a huge fan of Silver Age Flash and I knew Barry's mom was originally alive. So Zoom changes history and all is fine. The Flash changes it back and suddenly....everything is broken. It's stupid. Cheap drama. Lazy plotting. I generally love Geoff Johns. And there was a point that his Flash was my favorite book. But this was complete garbage and made me wish he'd never brought Barry back from the dead.

Cant wait to see this, just for keaton. But i dont like the big smirk on his face in the reveal. Its like kilmer or clooney’s batman haha
I’m watching it in spite of Ezra I didn’t watch aqua man due to amber for a while
Keaton's Batman, I'm in, full stop! Just to see him in the suit on big screen again! The rest of the movie can be total BS but I got to see the real Batman!
Im so confused, i thought grant gustin was the flash
Not really thrilled about Ezra Miller coming back as the Flash. I didn't watch Justice League, but the clips I saw didn't show me a very convincing portrayal of Barry Allen. Maybe Kid Flash, but not Barry Allen. Cautiously optimistic about this movie, but I'm more excited to see Michael Keaton's Batman in action again than anything else.
His portrayal was decent in the Snyder Cut of JL. I wouldn't recommend watching the other cut of the film for the Flash. Since it paints him in a really belittling and negative light.
Unfortunately and SPOILERS if you didn’t know but there’s a secret villain (hardly) they’ve made up called Dark Flash :(
Agree with you that the circumstances would have been a better villain.
Michael Keaton is back 😳😁
Crazy how they will give a kidnapper more clout like this.
The yellow suit Barry will be Zoom.
But as a movie, no, I'm not interested in it because there is no solid foundation for this film within the DC Universe.
who is the one with the white lightning? godspeed?
Why should I watch The flash why should we boycott the flash
The crime spree oddly enough can be an answer to both of those.
If you're saying these things because of Ezra Miller, I believe you're buying into a false narrative.
@@kneau Anyone who uses "narrative" unironically is selling a narrative. By your own rules, you have been invalidated. Godspeed.
@@arubinojr5670 I reject this gross mischaracterization.
Honestly, this looks great! I’m going to pirate it tho, I ain’t giving money to another grubby company.
It looks interesting but way too selfserious. The flash just shouldnt be edgy, or superman. Even if flashpoint is ambitious.
New 52 was a misfire but it had some great vens like Jeff Lemire's Animal Man.
Supergirl was always apart of the movie
