Why are we ignoring biology? What are their chromosomes? So, if straight people are cant play trans roles and trans people dont want to play trans roles, who the hell is supposed to play them?
It’s like when Maddie Ziegler played an autistic person and she got back lash for it because they should’ve hired a autistic person. Trans people are the minority and giving roles that are for trans character to trans people, offers a more effective acting because the trans person knows what it’s like to be trans. But only playing a trans character is very limited and there not enough movies that have trans characters in it, and even if they did their rarely ever leading characters. Hunter is clearly a person to play a leading character, so she should be able to explore woman role as she is a woman. Again, cisgender people already have a bunch of roles for them to play and there’s really not that many trans roles that they’d be missing out on anyways, nor do I think they would want to play those roles.
One the video displays it wrong Schafer said she didn’t want the trans part being the characters whole storyline not that she wouldn’t play a trans character, two Cis women can have XY and Cis Men can have XX and unless there are major health concerns nobody is doing chromosomal testing, also straight people? Do you think every gay person is trans?
“Why are we ignoring biology?” You say spewing the 3 things you remember after watching the daily wire while having no knowledge in the biological field, and science. Chromosomes = sex in humans, gender; a linguistic and societal construct. Also if you didn’t know there’s 3 possible biological human sexes.
As an otherwise gender critical gay dude, I'll be honest, I'll respect Hunter for this because this sort of thing is what turned me against the trans community to begin with, basing your entire existence on being trans and everything to do with it, so this actually a good thing Hunter said. I think Hunter is genuinely one of the few who can build a bridge between the trans community and the rest of us. All the trans people need to do now is, this is all that bothers me, stop putting homosexuality and being trans together thinking our respective issues are remotely the same and I'll feel better about their reasoning. Even if the gays have given them a loophole on a few things, comparing our struggles and putting them in the same box doesn’t sit well with me. Our stuff is just sexuality, theirs is identity...you see the difference?
Lmao nobody is being misogynistic. Trans people are one of the most marginalized and hated minorities so this doesnt even make sense. Stop tryna act like you care about women or are worried for them whenever trans women are brought up. You're not doing what you're doing and everyone can see right through it.
What an advocate, you know actual feminists get fucked off for saying things are misogynistic right? Do you have a favorite movie franchise because I want to ask a follow up question(don't worry It'll be fun)
I think she should be able to pick the rules she wants and if she gets them, great. I also think though that the same should be said for any actor. Don't criticize others if you're going to defend people like her.
As long as she's being hired because she fits the role and not because of "diversity hires", I don't have an issue with this. Unfortunately I have a hunch Hollywood will choose the latter reasoning rather than whether Hunter is qualified to play whatever character she auditions for
@LilacSreya no normal woman or man would ever date HIM. or IT if you prefer. It has nothing to do with the gender they think they are. It has everything to do with the therapy they obviously need.
Did she say she won’t play any trans characters or she just doesn't want to be limited to explicitly trans characters? She passes very well (I get that statements about passing are problematic, but I’m speaking facts), so that works for her. If she just plays women and it’s never mentioned or relevant to the plot of character whether they’re cis or trans, that’s fine. If a trans woman who does not pass as a biological female gets cast to play a pregnant woman, you’re asking too much from my suspension of disbelief.
Correct. Considering she was born a woman. Trans people are born with their gender identity. Trans women are born women. Trans men are born men. Gender and sex are separate concepts and always have been. Trans people don't "change their gender" when they transition. Transitioning is just making ones body match their identity and being public about being gender incongruent. They were always that gender.
Wait, how dare she demand she play the roles of Normal women and take away their roles? Would she and her peers be ok with Normal women taking trans roles?
first of all there, are a lot more cis women in hollywood than trans women so i doubt she’d be able to take away all of their roles. and second of all, im trans and personally i don’t mind when cis actors play trans characters. in fact one of my favourite movies is the danish girl, in which eddie redmayne a cis man plays a trans woman and does a fantastic job. there’s nothing wrong with cis people playing trans people so long as they do a good job i guess.
@gentl3manly of course, none of them would want that role. At the start of movie, he was seen as a man that he was. That would shatter the fantasy. I heard that they want to off themselves when you brake the fantasy. Scarlet Johnson, on the other hand, dropped a role because of the backlash.

Cause I agree a trans woman should be able to play a cis woman, because she’s just as much of a woman. But, cis woman should be able to play trans woman than, because if trans woman are just as much of a woman (which I agree with), there should be no problem with a cis woman playing just another type of woman. Especially, when it’s hard to get an actual trans actor to play a trans character, especially if trans actors don’t even want to keep playing trans roles, which again I think is valid.

Stop getting all up in arms when actors play characters they don't match 100%.

I don’t care if she wants to play female roles. I just don’t really appreciate the inconsistency of telling cis people they can’t play trans roles. It should be about what actor is best for the part.

Why are we ignoring biology? What are their chromosomes?
So, if straight people are cant play trans roles and trans people dont want to play trans roles, who the hell is supposed to play them?
"straight people are cant" is not grammatically correct, I'm afraid.
@@kd9085 finally someone who isn't transphobic lmao

Y’all if u didn’t know she was trans you wouldn’t even think she was. Leave her alone.
So he wants to take roles away from women? That's very misogynistic.
The patriarchy is always winning.
Lmao nobody is being misogynistic. Trans people are one of the most marginalized and hated minorities so this doesnt even make sense. Did she say she won’t play any trans characters or she just doesn't want to be limited to explicitly trans characters? She passes very well (I get that statements about passing are problematic, but I’m speaking facts), so that works for her.
