An incredible find! Really amazing that these finds still happen. The second Ruth will be auctioned at a later date, along with the doubles Thanks for sharing
Yes or more specifically they'd do an mk qualifier. There are other sets like one I collect diamond matchbooks where they hold the manufacturers fold to be a crease which really kills the graded market as there is little difference for in grade for good corners & centering.
I have driven by that building in Lawrence when I was heading to the Canal Street Antique mall. Love the history of the mill cities (Lowell and Lawrence) that were part of the American Industrial Revolution. History, baseball and the Babe!
What a discovery! You never know what you may find when you are even looking for “it”. Thanks for sharing this one, Mike. Looking forward to an update.
This is completely awesome! Morehouse Baking is fairly close by to my neck of the woods. TaxAchusetts has an amazing cardboard history where much of it is from the Great Depression, so this M101 and Close Candy are some of the earliest. I had done a lengthy article on the backs of the M101, and found evert time I typed in Felix Mendelssohn, the Composer kept popping up. The cardboard Felix died in a Chicago hotel room in October of 1938 and had a world-class collection of theatre programs. I thought he was born between 1868 and 1875 but I tried finding a photo and it was impossible, so I never released the paper. I wonder how many full sheets Morehouse bought from Mendelssohn? Some backs are only known through a single sheet such as the Chicago Tribune and Furniture City Brewing Co. If you like history, photography and Baseball - you'll love the M101! This was a great video, thanks for posting it!
Just a real great story. Flea Markets and moving sales have always been an opportunity to find collectibles/ sportscards. You have to be patient as most of the time you’ll find junk. But the 1 time you hit it you’ll always remember. One I will remember was in Salem NH. I ask the gentleman if he had any sports collectibles; he went into the house and came out with 4 original 50’s Montreal Canadian Jersey’s and photos signed by 50’s players. He told me his dad had worked for the organization before moving to the US. I asked him what he wanted for them and he said $20 bucks. I didn’t have the heart to rob the guy and told him what he had. He hurriedly brought the box back to his house and that was that……he did give me a few of the sign photos as a thank you. I believe the Rocket Richard “Maska” jersey had to be worth close to the value of his house.
You always hear some old codger say this or that has been known to exist for decades. There really needs to be a baseball card scan project where images for fronts & backs are scanned. One could setup badges & moderators as an incentive and ad support as to cover sever & storage costs. Unfortunately I'm no coder so its up to somebody else.
Hi Mike, that is an awesome find and a great story. I'll be curious to see how much the Ruth card sells for. I think it's cool that the cards have the cancelled stamp on the back. I had never heard of these cards before watching your video. Thanks for sharing.

Do you have one of these in your attic?
I don't have an attic. Probably why all I ever find is ''junk wax'' era cards that I forgot, I had. 😢
You're a disgusting fraud

@@ACollectorsDream thanks for that extra info!
I’m glad PSA differentiates “cancelled” on the label instead of just giving it a 1 due to the stamp. Super cool card!
I'm glad they do that too!

Wow! Good for you for being honest with him
You know, I grew up in Methuen Lawrence area and I've never heard of that building I would love to visit and see if it's still there
The building is but not the company
That is a cool story. Well told. Thanks Mike!

If the canceled version will sell about 2 million how much for the uncanceled version of the same grade go for double or triple that amount
@@MichaelSnead-lf7wl good question! I’m not sure but I wouldn’t think there would be a big value difference. It didn’t affect the grade.

I'd say the stamp adds to the history of the cards.

Great story, perfect AFF subject!
Yes! It really is.
I want to know what PSA charged for grading these?

Great story and awesome find of some pre war cards.
Yes!

Pretty interesting! Are you going to make a video about those Jackie cards from the SI article?
Maybe!

If these are the only one's ever found, who's to say they're real?
PSA. They can compare them against other examples with different backs. They can examine the paper.
I was under the assumption that no other Morehouse were out there until now
@@rockcundiff1761 that’s correct. But there are thousands of Sporting News, for instance. And the other advertising backs of the same cards.
