Fun Fact about Rock 'n Roll Racing: its developer Silicon & Synapse is the same company we know today as Blizzard. They changed their name in 1994 shortly before the release of the first Warcraft game.

Batsugun is an extremely important SHMUP because it featured a small player hitbox which the player would utilize to weave through an absolute curtain of enemy fire. In other words, it's considered either the first or direct predecessor to the Bullet Hell genre. Development staff from Batsugun would go on to make Donpachi, which remains the most popular arcade Bullet Hell series (overall nothing is touching Touhou). Tsuneki Ikeda is an especially noteworthy member of the Batsgun development team, going on to work on nearly all of Cave's entire output.

Oh heck, I had no idea! I’ve played Donpachi and DoDonPachi and they absolutely rule. Fascinating to know the connection between them and Batsugun, and I feel a bit silly for not noticing because their shared DNA seems pretty obvious with that knowledge.

I'm 30 too! Playing Cyber Sled in my local arcade when I was a kid was AWESOME. Thanks for reminding me what it was called.

Man i miss 93'. I was 8 years old and its one of the most memorable years from the 90s. 1993 felt fresh in the sense that it was no longer the 80s and it took a good 2 years before the 90s got its own identity and 93' was def that year.

Subbed!!! Great editing and love the tone of the video. An unsolicited bit of opinion is that maybe going a bit more in depth on each game would have been cool; but I digress. I am now a sub pixel fan!

Thanks for watching and subbing! Normally I definitely would’ve gone into greater detail about these games; but as a bit of insider baseball, this video had a pretty tight turnaround to replace what was originally in our December release schedule - so it became this more abridged version of itself. But we’ve got plenty of deep dives elsewhere on the channel for you to enjoy!

I love Rock and Roll Racing, the music was made by Tim and Geoff Follin who were known for making ridiculously good music for otherwize mediocre games.
Also very sorry to "um actually" but the sound on the SNES is more closer to a mod tracker than a MIDI player. It does sound like a MIDI player depending on the game though.

I played the snot out of Rock n Roll Racing on my uncle's SNES.

Awesome selection ! In the hunt is indeed a great lesser known gem. Back then I played so much Rocknroll Racing the MIDI rendition of Black Sabbath was etched into my brain ... and after that it took me almost 20 years to realize that Silicon and Synapse was actually Blizzard's former name ...

Lots of really interesting games here! Seems like there was a lot of SNES covered here, but I couldn't always tell what system each game was made for.
How does Alcahest's intro remind you of Bionicle? I absolutely love Bionicle too!

Hindsight I definitely should’ve specified what platform each was for! For whatever reason that Star in the opening cutscene in Alcahest reminded me of the Red Star in Bionicle, specifically when you can look at it in the telescope in Mata Nui Online Game (we have a video about MNOG if you haven’t seen it!)

Theres no need for clickbait title. Just title a video what its about. Don't classify me based on what you don't know. It's tiring.
