This was the show that introduced me to this genius (and his former partner-in-crime, Richard Herring) - I missed them both, having left the UK in 1988.
really enjoy his work. a man committed to his art. i was a big fan ricky gervais during the office years, but he's now becoming bloated on his success. the word sellout springs to mind.
@hereticmagpie I agree but to be fair Carlin is practically a non-entity to the British general public, so its doubtful he'd get high in anything but a "Comedian's Comedian" poll. Hell even amongst many of my stand-up saavy friends they know him first and foremost as Rufus from Bill & Ted. Shame but much as Lee has decided to maintain his network of indie dates in Scotland and London, Carlin spent his last decade on HBO so international knowledge of either is damn low.
I think he's my favourite stand up, but I can see that he's not to everyone's taste. The American joke is a bit out of context here, he does go on to say in the full show that he doesn't really believe the things he says about Americans. But then it is fairly obvious since he is a comedian, and therefore likely joking.

Very weird: a Stewart Lee video without a single "has let himself go" joke in the comment thread... What's going on here?
Nah! He is a genius.
You’re entitled to ur opinion....
....but on this occasion ur correct.
