    Thank you so much for all you teach and share. At exactly 6.00 you explained the thing I needed to know to make a 'C' shaped shank for the back of a large bezel setting. It's my first bezel and first soldered ring, and I was struggling to work out the length to cut my half round wire for my shank. As always your video is informative, well explained and so pleasant to watch. Much appreciation to you from Cali.

    I love pierce work, it's loads of fun! I've also found that if concerned about the drill bit skittering across the metal using a small round bur to make a divot helps. You're wonderful as always!

    I noticed that you don't show disconnecting the blade to start in another section. While everyone may scoff at my statement, I am learning so I am not afraid to sound ignorant to sawing intricate patterns. I realize to some it seems pretty obvious that one would have to unscrew pull the blade out and rethread it. I am a visual learner and as hard headed as a bull, but do you have any video that shows you doing this even once so I can see you moving throughout such an intricate piece? If you don't respond I understand. However, just so you know, I do like your videos. They are very clear and concise.

    Soham, I've been watching your videos the past few days and am sooo happy I found your channel here. I am from Germany, brandnew to the obsession and your videos are just the best thing that could happen to anybody that wants to make jewellery. Huge thanks to you :-). I just love the way you explain each and every step you are making, how you keep repeating the most important rules (the flux will go clear, the solder will flow). You are the most informative jewellerer on youtube and I just love that you share your secrets with us :-) I am at the stage of tryin to get my tools together and was wondering what 'pickle sollution' you use, because you mentioned in 'tools part 1' that you use cold pickle.,.. How long to you keep your silver in that sollution to soak? Thank you soooo much in advance :-)

    Master Jeweler / Goldsmith here: my father taught me to bezel set with a jewelers hammer and hammer the edges. there wasn't fancy tools like these. would've been nice. cutting the heads from coins was my training got real good that I used thinner blades and got more into the details on Mexican pesos. I paid my dues, lots of blood sweat and tears... good 'ol days. time to put some music

    I enjoy all of your videos so much...as an aspiring metalsmith with no available workshops in my area you videos are by far the best on RUclips....may I ask with this type of shank how do you size it correctly ? If you get an order for a specific size? ...and thanks again for making these informative videos....:)

    Can you tell me the guage of the fine silver sheet you use for bezel. 24,, 26 ,, ? I already found the ring shank. I am trying to purchase from rio. Do you have a recommendation for a non grs vise. I teach jewelry to teenagers and dont want the expensive interchangable system for school. I am buying it. I make them watch your videos for homework. They wish all their other classes had homework like this. Your voice is calming they love it. Outstanding teaching technique! Im learning better ways to teach from you.

    Maybe someone can help me, every time I set a stone I can’t get it to not move around/twist in the bezel setting... I am only using a burnishing tool to push the bezel up against the stone right now, could it be that that doesn’t secure it enough? The fit of my bezel wire around the wire before I solder it around seems to be the same as in many tutorials.
    If anyone could offer me some advice on this it would be greatly appreciated:)

    if you are using a propane, or an LPG air torch i would recommend easy solder, you are right in assuming all the other solder would flow, but if you have an lpg oxy you can isolate the joins so it would work to use hard on everything

  • @sohamharrison
    @sohamharrison 11 лет назад +1

    it is the hardest thing to get right. are you using binding wire? i usually dont. i just place the ring on the base with a third hand gently resting on it to keep it in place, and check it out about 42 times, and sometimes it is spot on.
