@@matthewhastings2568 Well, Parnell keeps coming up a lot as an inspiration to the various Jewish national movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries- primarily between Home Rule and Autonomism/Bundism/Zionism, as well as between Irish and Hebrew language revival. In the next video it's Michael Davitt who makes an appearance.
@@SamAronow That's fascinating. Subscribed so I can check out that next video. Michael Davitt very nearly made it into this video but I cut him for pacing reasons.

Seems like this keeps being said here but - I was legitimately thinking about this channel and considering rewatching your Flynn video not even a week ago! And then this! Fantastic video.
Great to see another video from you hopefully the next one wont take as long as this one to come out but if it is an interesting as this ill be happy to wait
I don't envisage the next video being as long plus I learned so much about how to do research from this one that I really don't think it'll take anywhere near as long.
C'mere I just finished this and it was absolutely amazing, I know this isnt something you do full time but if you ever make more videos on our history I will definitely watch, even if it's just one video every year or 2.
Thank you. I'm working on a new video atm of which I'm about halfway through the video edit (research, writing, narration done so on the last step). I wish I could give specifics on when it will be finished but its hard to anticipate which parts will take a long time.
Thank you very much. I fully intend to keep going once I've settled on a new topic. Comments like this are what motivate me to do more so I really do appreciate it.
Fantastic video, but the music hall name is wrong. He was Harry Randall, not Richard. He describes the situation in his autobiography published in 1931, and mentions that the song only lasted a night until Piggott's suicide. A good read if you're into that stuff.
The daggers used by the Invincible's were retrieved from the Liffey via a diving bell, I don't know if the find was part of the investigation or coincidental.
It's interesting how a bag that would have been in police custody turned up with the letters It's interesting how The Nation newspaper was printed right beside Dublin Castle It's interesting how the Catholic/Protestant Church who were viciously against the Catholic/Protestant people ( who were United at the start of the land wars) came together along with Parnell to redirect the issue It's interesting that the first person to have a rent strike by the people was Cannon Burke Maybe this was a setup, and this was always going to be the outcome It's interesting how all the aristocracy who plundered Ireland, including James Stewart Parnell and were all bankrupt, including the Catholic church' came together to fight for our freedom I wonder if there was something going on behind the Green curtain
Very good video, though I thought the ending was a bit too fast. Do you have any good sources on mid 19th century Fenianism as a whole? I'd been thinking of reading about them for a while but I'm not sure where to start.
Weirdly, I just found out about this. Although the title is surely misleading, Independence was not on the cards. The stupidity of that man for getting into another scandal. The real hilarity for me is how Conservative (I mean otherwise Tory.) many revolutionaries are, even Éamon de Valera said so.
Superb video, with so much information I had not known. One very minor error: you used the American pronunciation when saying Lord Lieutenant, saying 'lewtenant'. In Ireland and Britain, lieutenant is pronounced 'left-tenant'. So the office was pronounced Lord Left-tenant. Just a minor quibble.

A famine and a genocide aren’t contradictory terms. Generally speaking, in a famine, there is enough food to go around, but, due to human actions, it isn’t being distributed to those in need.
Just when I wonder absentmindedly whatever happened to this channel, you come right back with a subject that keeps coming up over and over on mine!
Wow interesting connection I’m sure!

YEA NEW VID OMG I THOUGHT THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AAAAA already amazing thanks for all the Irish history
Very good, but an error to correct at 45:57 when you meant to say "Parnell" as master of the party, but instead you said "Gladstone" by mistake
Ah here we go lads, I’m strapping in for this one.
Goddamn this was such a great spotlight on an event I would never have known.
That was my number one intention. Thank you very much.

At 2:59 I really really hoped you were going to say "The Irish Republican Barmy".
Excellent video, glad to have you back!
Haha
Truthfully I did linger on 'IR...' for a fraction of a second because I knew people were going to expect me to say 'A'.
We need a sitcom about Piqot. Great video, glad you're back.
This was an excellent video. It's a real shame it never got views, but I hope it doesn't deter you from making more such videos in the future.
Truly inspirational storytelling.
Simple and yet riveting.
The best and most engaging of styles.
Wow...what an interesting piece of Irish history and told so well. You kept me riveted the entire time.
Phenomenal work as always Imparter! I especially liked the trivia about Charles Boycott.
Good to have you back, sir!
A great story that should be shown on the big screen

This would make a brilliant film! Why was this never mentioned in history at school?
Yeah, could make a great political period piece biopic.
Parnell was actually a part of my leaving cert history course
There's a mini series from the 80s I think. I didn't watch it because I didn't want to be narratively influenced by it.
It was mentioned when I was in secondary school.
It was when I did the leaving in 2008.

Just a little thing, but didn't Boycott indeed bring down Orange men frim the North to bring in the harvest. Glad to hear he had to pay dear for it.
