  • On this trip, we stayed with Back Woods Rentals in Matewan, WV. We stay there frequently and their cabins are very clean and rustic. They can accommodate large groups up to 40. Their, “come as strangers, leave as friends” hospitality is second to none!
On day one we rode to Dingess Tunnel through Hatfield-McCoy Trail’s Buffalo Mountain System and Outlaw Trails. We encountered several trees down and cleared as much as we could. We ran three saws out of fuel. Also ran into a thunderstorm with hail! 108 miles this day.
Day two we rode to Elkhorn City via Kentucky Outlaw Trails. Working south through Feds Creek we rode the Pine Mountain Trail up to the silica rocks (high rocks) on the KY/VA state line. We ate dinner in Elkhorn City and rode back. 132 miles on this day.
Day three we rode to Martin County, KY to see the Outlaw Trails. There is quite a bit of hard top to reach these trails from Williamson but once you arrive the trails are fantastic. There is a maze of trails that could keep a group busy for a few days. We found creek riding, falls, open strips with hill climbs, technical climbs, and livestock. We spoke to several locals in this area who were very friendly. We rode 110 miles this day.
350 miles total for the trip.
    Thanks for watching!
