The story begins in 2029, Wolverine has aged to the point where he is essentially a shadow of the man he once was. Over time, his once-dominant strength has waned, leaving him frail and exposed. No children have been born in the last twenty-five years, and many have passed away. Wolverine, whose real name is James Howlett but who is more often known as Logan, is burdened by his numerous missions and fights.
One day, while traveling, Logan meets a man named Donald, who mentions a nurse that Logan needs to find. Donald gives Logan his contact number but refuses to provide further details. Logan notices the name "Alkali Transigen" on Donald's car, which brings back memories of the sinister experiments led by Stryker that transformed his body with adamantium.
