The diecast metal transformers were awesome.
They were heavier and sturdier.
and because they were metal you got a much better paint job on them.
You could hit your friend with an Optimus prime or SoundWave and they would run home crying.
now if you hit your friend with one of your transformers it'll explode into a thousand pieces and they will laugh at you for being stupid.

It always amazed me how much engineering went into building these, making them totally transformable from their vehicle to robot forms. It's gotta be ALOT of intellectual capacity, just to imagine viable methods for making an arm that can swing out and be tucked away, when it's in vehicle form.
Let ALONE creating an entire workable product.
Absolutely crazy skills involved in their creation, even when I was a kid, the line of first generation Transformers toys were extremely intricate and complicated, back then.
