I have finally gotten lego tank treads and made a adaptive suspension like this, but instead of using springs for tension, I used several 7 long torsion bars, and connected them with an even amount of gears. This provided the same adaptive effect like your suspension. Thank you for inspiration!

my advise is you need a higher terrain clearance for soft snow and mud, widen the track aswell, also proof your drive train and make sure it's resilient so you don't ever encounter problems like the battery problem. Nice video though I like it.

Well, that design withe suspension and treds looks like it would be fantastic for a robot to get around.

Try it, The knobs works like spikes under football shoes. Or like Spikes in a cars winter tyre

amazing build!, but what if you put a PF switch at the output of the reciever (the black battery hub thing. Not sure how its called xD) and connect that output of the switch to the XL motor, then the steering on the remote shouldt just work
Eriyo2000 I don´t have a PF switchAlso you have to power the switch with an additional batterie box... this wouldn´t be real efficient

I wonder how do you do to make it so fast; and what are these "differential 3M Z 28" gears for? You may know, it is often used in the lego technics cars.
+Arthur Gaudefroy You need the 2 differentials for the subtractor gearing.
Normaly you put a motor on each track and just control it via the left and the right trigger on your remote. But with a subtractor gear you can steer it like a real tank or a normal car. That means you have a motor for the steering and a motor for the driving. So you can have a steering wheel on your remote and a normal trigger for driving... I hope you can understand this explanation. Otherwise you can search for "how a subtractor works" on RUclips ;)

Hi, gibts ne Möglichkeit das ganze ohne die L-Motoren bzw den RC-Buggy Empfänger/Fernbedienung zu bauen? die Teile sind ja doch ziemlich teuer
Ja gibt es schon mit normalen powerfunctions motoren und empfänger aber dann wird er um einiges langsamer und du musst viel umbauen

Nice MOC. Just a question - I've been building Lego Technic for years but always wondered the origins of the term 'subtractor' as applied to such a mechanism. A google images search for 'subtractor tank' only brings up images of Lego subtractors - I've never seen this mechanism used outside Lego MOCs...did this definition of a subtractor just spontaneously arose within the Lego community?
I don't know actually because english is not my mother tongue. But i'm pretty sure it also exists in some real tanks.

Well, kelkshitz made an amazing tank reload mech that I love, but whatever, from the looks of it, you are covered to make at least a turntable, an elevation mech, and the gun on a light chassis

There are some cheap used ones with missing parts maybe.
